If you always wondered: where could i find a David Lynch-esque restaurant? You know, the kind they had on Twin Picks - this is it. Its old, the waitress are comical in their normalcy. They do call you "hon" or "honey" and it feels like youre in a time capsule. Even the cash register is still old school. I love it! The breakfast food was a topical dinner food. When you order a mushroom omlete, they mean business; its mushrooms only so, dont forget to ask for some cheese in it if thats the way you like it. The seasoning includes salt and pepper and a hot sauce with ketchup. Just like in the old movies. I personally love visiting places like that, it makes me feel like Im on vacation. Enjoy.

This was my first time in Chicago and I was looking for something more than fast food. I called Big Top and was informed they are open 24-hours and have availability. I headed over and was pleasantly surprised by the retro look of the place. My friend that was with me and I both agreed the place reminded us of the diner on the sitcom "Alice" from the 70s. Food was good, but Rose, or server, was outstanding. Always made sure we had plenty to drink and was more than happy to provide us with a piece of cake (or two) for dessert. I will absolutely go back when Im in the area next year.

This was disgusting I will never eat here again. The lady filled up the pitcher with half full cups of water I can only assume that they are reusing water that customers didnt finish. My friends food tasted pledge cleaning supply. I went to go use the bathroom and there was urine all over the floor. There was only us and two other customers sitting so I can assume that that is how the employe treat their place of work and it makes me wonder how sanitary their food really is.

I had been going to Big Top since I was a little girl and always enjoyed going there. However, recently I went with two friends and had an awful experience. My friend ordered a burrito, when it came out it looked awful. We tried sending it back and the waitress got the manager. The female manager was so incredibly rude to us that our friend started crying. She also forced my friend to pay for a meal she did not eat. I will never go back.

I went yesterday morning around 8:45 am, our waitress was an older lady. She was an absolute sweetheart and perfect at her job, she was patient with my questions and didnt make me feel bad for asking! I had a mushroom omelette with rye toast, it was delicious!!! They even had Louisiana hot sauce! The decor is still classic, but beautiful and very clean. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a happy start to your day!

I use to like this place.The last few times I went the food was burnt hash browns.Eggs were already broken for easy over.The bacon over cooked was also burnt.The waitresses seem more stress .Not enough waitresses on the weekend rush. When I use to there a year ago when things were different I love great food.Not over priced .Nice waitresses .Then I would of rated a five.Hopefully they can fix the problems that I address.

Horrible service, the guy cooking our burger for the low cal plate cant cook. Burger was awful asked for med.rare got a well done hockey puck, the server seemed put out when we told her the soup was awful. Never had this kind of problem there before, well never go on a Monday again, the real cook must have been off,no mgr. to correct the many, many problems.

The air was on full blast my food was cold when I got It! Waitress had a runny nose the whole time she served us . Im not saying I wont go back I believe in second chances hopefully it will be slightly warmer and that poor waitress will be feeling better after all she was very nice and attentive...

I had a great breakfast here. Its one of the few places open really early. The pancakes were made just right. The eggs were cooked to perfection. Also, very good bacon. The people are nice and friendly. And the place is clean. When Im looking for an early breakfast, this is the place.

I eat at a lot of diners. This one is pretty typical with typically weak coffee and the usual food quality (canned mushrooms, etc.). Two negative attributes though are a musty smell and that its somewhat dirty and run-down looking.

This was the place to eat late when I was in high school. The menu is big, the food is good, and the restaurant is open around the clock. This is a good sit-down, diner style place, and I would be happy to visit again.

I love this place, its a total throwback to my childhood. The 1970s decor is awesome! I eat here once a week and Ive never had a bad meal. One of the best char burgers around.
