I was a loyal customer to Olympic Star. It has been around since my childhood in Tinley Park, and I have dined there many times. However, I will not be going back there any more. The female owner who usually runs the early morning and night shifts has harassed me for the last time. I can think of many times where this lady has interrupted my experience there, and tonight it was simply too much. A few years ago I was on a green tea kick, and as they do not serve it there, I would bring my own tea bag. The lady told me that I could not bring and use my own tea bag, and even took away my cup of tea. Tonight I was settled into my table playing cards with a friend, and I had a my foot in my sock on top of the chair absent-mindedly. She VERY RUDELY told me to put my foot on the floor. I am generally a very nice and accommodating person, but addressing me in a rude manner when I dont otherwise have to be nice to you, was enough to put me in a sour mood. I put my foot on the floor and continued playing cards until a server came up to tell me to put my shoes back on. I understand that it may be strange to take your shoes off in a restaurant, but it has never been an issue at any of the restaurants I have been to before. I had my feet under the table, and my friend did not mind. Additionally I wasnt dining near anyone and my feet were clean and in socks. I was put into an even more sour mood, and after discussing my frustration with my friend and finishing my card game, we got up to leave. I did not say anything to the woman as I stood next to my friend who paid. As we walked out of the restaurant I started to make a comment about how I could have been mean, but refrained. Before I could finish my comment, she called LOUDLY after my friend and I. She followed us out the door and told us that if I wanted to return, I had to follow her rules for dining there. She also told me she did not appreciate my language (not that I cursed at her, just in conversation to my friend because I happen to curse a lot when I am not otherwise required to use clean language). I will not be returning. I have never been harassed at my own table for otherwise minding my own business. Additionally, if she wants to successfully impose her rules on every customer there, she needs to do it in a much politer manner.

It was an awful experience and ILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.. We arrives and everything seemed okay but when we sat down it took a while for the surver to come to our table. Remind you, it was 3am. So it wasnt busy.. Our server had a slightly rude attitude like she didnt wanna be there. We brushed it off and let it go. We recieved our soup first which actually tasted good. But then... We got our main dish............... I got a steak and cheese sandwhich and my cousin got a burger. My cousin asked for well done and there was still pink in the middle. It was also very plain... My sandwhich wasnt even sautade together. It tasted like everything was just thrown together and chopped poorly. The worst part was that my breading was so soggy that when I tried to pick up my sandwich it just fell apart and all my steak and cheese fell through the side. It was disapointing. i didnt even get to really eat it.. I just picked at it. Also. My meat looked slightly silver.. What ever that means.. Then when we went up to the counter to pay the lady was pushing buttons on her computer and refused to acknowledge that we were there for two minutes exactly once I started keeping track. (she was older with dark hair. Looked like a manager) She could have at least said "ill be with you in a moment" instead of just completely ignoring us. Also, she never even asked how everything was. Just gave me the receipt and hovered over me watching while I was signing and trying to write a tip. Before even taking my cousins money for her bill..It was very irritating. As we were walking out the door, the people behind us were paying and I heard her ask how their food was. Great customer service guys... Ill NEVER go there again.

We took my mother-in-law there for lunch for her Birthday. My husband ordered a Reuben sandwich, which he couldnt finish because the meat was too hard to chew. I had a salad with garlic dressing that was completely tasteless and without even a hint of garlic, and gyro meat served on hard, dry pita. The fries that came with it were disgustingly greasy. My mother-in-law ordered a clam chowder and a ham sandwich. They brought her two slices of bread with folded slices of ham between them. The meat wasnt even nicely spread; it was just slapped in the middle. When she pointed that to the waitress, the answer was "thats how we make sandwiches." So my mother-in-law ate half a bowl of the soup and took the "sandwich" home to add some mayo, lettuce and tomato. The atmosphere was...well...there was none. The place is like a huge diner with no decoration, and definitely nothing suggesting a Greek menu. That was our first and last time there.

If your not a Regular Morning Customer, you may have to wait a bit for service. Regulars get Special Attention it seems after the last two mornings of my visiting. Im retired & am in no hurry, but would like some attention before 10 minutes of waiting. Bus Boy was attentive and I at least had a cold glass of H20. OTHERWISE, Good Food, have been going there since opening in the early 80s, just need to visit a little more often to become a REGULAR I guess!!!!

The frog legs were exquisite!!!! Not to mention the waffle pizza..... have been coming here since 1946...Burt Meatagain recommended this place , and I thank him. I usually knock down a few grasshoppers before breakfast.... and they go HEAVILY on the creme de menthe!!!! If you are ever in the Phoenix area, and are looking for some good eats...hop a plane to Chicago and then drive to tinley park!!!!! Remember, you have to keep yer shirt on!!!!

From the outside, this seems like a place Id keep driving right past (dingy, no windows), but dont judge Olympic by its exterior! The inside decor is much nicer than the outside would lead you to believe. Its your standard 24 hours a day breakfast did diner. The food is good. The prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a stop.

The staff has an old fashioned friendliness which is very comforting in this day and age. Our waitress was fabulous! The food was fresh, healthy portions, and delivered pretty quick after placing order. Great family restaurant that i wouldnt mind becoming a regular of since Im new to the neighborhood.

You dont go to the Olympic Star for great food. Not that you dont have tons to choose from. The greek style menu has literally 100s of options. Its a place where regulars go to enjoy a good conversation, a cup coffee and the legendary Hercules Special. Ive been a patron for nearly 17 years.
