After moving into the neighborhood recently a friend recommended "A Taste of Heaven." Our first visit was extremely disappointing for a holiday breakfast. We sat against the window and because of the sloped floor the table and chairs leaned on an angle so badly we had to turn our chairs away from the lean to sit comfortably. We were served water promptly with menus and ordered coffee. Shortly thereafter our waiter brought the coffee and took our orders. During our wait for the food I was bitten numerous times by flies in the restaurant. It became such a nuisance that other patrons started swatting them away as well. A restaurant with a biting fly investation problem is unacceptable. We both ordered different varieties of breakfast sandwiches. Mine "Erica" was to be served on a toasted french bagette but was served on an untoasted Ciabatta bread which is italian, not french. This sandwich was just ok. My partners breakfast sandwich "Mikes Pesto" had extremely undercooked fried egg with bitter yolks and served on sliced "grilled" Italian bread, not "grilled Brioche". Seems the short order cooks dont know their breads, which is strange for a Bakery. Coffee at $3 a cup was awful and we had to get up and go to a coffee bar near the front door to get a refill if necessary. We shared an order of fresh fruit which was fine. Service was terrible. Once the food arrived we never saw our waiter again. I had to flag another waiter down to get a water refill. Once we finished I asked for a container for my ungrilled half of Erica, got the container but had to go to the counter without a check. Two breakfast sandwiches, one fresh fruit order and two coffees and water with tax and tip $43. I left a tip

The food is excellent for sure. My favorite is the bread pudding and omlette. Ok, it does get crazy busy in there. Sure, the staff arent always 100% attentive, but theyve been pretty nice to me so far. Some people are complaning about kids discrimmiation - well leave your kids at home. Its not a place to bring kids around. Its not a F* playground. We dont need kids yelling and screaming. Its more like a cafe where adults get together to socialize, business meetings, etc. Its so small why would you want to bring kids there? I dont ever recall seeing a high chair! Sometimes I feel like telling the parents to shut their kids up. I am sorry to say, but it really is not a place for kid. Other than that, its a great place. Price is reasonable and oh coffee is excellent!!! It could also be a date place. =)

Never again. Lunch time today. Chicken curry salad was just ok -nothing special. My dining companion- chicken and biscuits served just barely warm. We both got desserts. He had the flourless chocolate cake. Definitely not fresh. I tried it also. It was terrible. This was our 4th visit and 4th time ordering it so he knew the taste - it fell terribly short! He left well more than half! I felt my lemon cupcake was stale. Dry and hard around the edges- tasted like a pound cake base as it was solid- I used a fork to CUT through it. If MY restaurant was known for dessert Id be embarassed to serve these!

We were in Chicago and stayed with a friend who is walking distance from A Taste of Heaven. We decided to go in for breakfast. I had the caramel apple french toast which was amazing!! It was so good, that we went again during the last day of our trip. This time I had the Thanksgiving burrito, which was also really good. My husband had the grilled cheese sandwich which was delicious and our friend had the chicken burrito which was fresh and tasty! As for service, it was friendly and prompt both times we were there. I would highly reccommend this place. I plan on visiting next time Im in Chicago.

I have loved this place ever since they opened on Foster, years ago! Every cake is unique and delicious, my favorite is the Jeanette (sp?), which is named after the owners mother. He pays a great tribute to her by making this cake. In fact, my daughter got married 12 yrs ago, and ordered it as one of the layers on her wedding cake. At the Clark location, they started making a wider range of meals, all are good. This is a great, social place to meet with friends for a terrific brunch or dinner. Just leave room for dessert because you dont want to miss that part!

This brunch spot in Andersonville is so warm and home-y. Every little detail of this restaurant is adorable, from the tea-cup lamps to the plates on the walls. I really enjoyed their breakfast burrito during weekend brunch, and they gave out a sample of their fruit cake (which, for fruit cake, was moist and delicious). Our server was really attentive, refilled the coffee often, and was really talkative/sweet. Id love to go back for brunch and try the eggs verde next.

At first glance, A Taste of Heaven seems a little expensive for a cafe. Once you go in though, the meals are actually pretty large sized. The staff is very friendly from the moment you enter. They have a nice option of outside seating for the nice days you dont even realize exists at first. While the food is good, the cupcakes were what were awesome. From Nutella cupcakes to Chocolate Raspberry ones, the selection is awesome.

Andersonville top brunch spot! This is just some good homemade cooking. Their pastries are amazing! Just stop by to look at their bakery case and youll know why this place is so amazing. All of their brunch options are good and always get a cornmeal biscuit. Their cupcakes and scones are amazing too. Im only giving this place 4 stars because they arent child friendly and they have a sign posted on the door to prove it.

Ordered delivery via Door Dash and had a wonderful breakfast experience from the comfort of my own home! My girlfriend had French toast that was quite tasty and I particularly enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were home made corn meal biscuits and the gravy was a unique take on the typical sausage gravy. Overall, loved it! Would recommend and would definitely patronize this establishment again.

If you crave good home-cooked food served quickly, then this is a great spot for amidst the busy-ness of Andersonville! It can be a tight squeeze and occasionally a bit of a waiting time, but its well worth it! The service is mostly good despite the fact that theres only ONE SERVER at lunch time! (He kinda messed up the order a little bit but he fixed it and was very apologetic...) Next time: sweets!

Needed a break from 9pm grad school reading. Came here with a friend and zoomed in on the cupcakes. I had the Elvis cupcake, which included banana cake, peanut butter creamy frosting, and a Reeses peanut butter cup chunk on top. Totally memorable. It was $3.50, which was fair for the experience. The counter guy was snarky, but I like snark. Cant wait to have an excuse to come back.

I went in as a last minute decision on trying to find a bakery in the area to satisfy my sweet tooth. I am pleased to say the cake slices(German Chocolate & Coconut Cream) I purchased were DEE-LISH!!!! I also bought a rugalah and it was as delicious as it looked. Also the staff was friendly and attentive. I will most definitely be returning to try other items on their menu!!!
