Do not be fooled by the cakes in the pictures. They completely messed up an important order 6 mos ago and only offered to refund the difference in ingredients cost - what??? They will provide whatever cake they feel like baking that day regardless of what the ticket states Then at my wifes request we tried them again last week for 2 birthday cakes and again, completely messed them up. Do not trust these people with an order for an important event, they suck and do not even provide basic customer care even when they acknowledge that they messed up. That is 3 cakes completely screwed up folks - you decide. Also, the owner Peter is a complete Jerk and refused to provide a any type of credit other than the price of the missing ingredients. If I didnt care about the cake, I would go to Jewel and buy a 10.00 cake, at least then you know what you are buying. There are a lot of talented bakeries in the city that appreciate their customers - Try Bleeding heart or Floriole

Less than two weeks before her wedding, my daughter emailed Alliance Bakery a picture of the cake she hoped they could create. She had chosen different designs for each layer of the cake. Peter Rios assured me that he would balance the designs so they would compliment each other. The cake not only looked beautiful and was exactly what she wanted, but the taste was amazing. She choose vanilla cake filled with fresh raspberries and custard and frosted with a delicate vanilla buttercream. The vanilla buttercream frosting was perfect, not too thick and complimented the cake very well. The cake was fresh and not too sweet. I am a bit of a custard snob and this custard with the rasberries was delicious. We had many compliments on how great the cake tasted. When ordering, I spoke directly with Peter Rios, and he was most attentive, helpful, and courteous. We would order from Alliance again in a heart-beat! Thank you.

What a dissapointment!! I ordered my babys 1st birthday cake from this bakery after all the reviews I saw and the cakes I saw in the store..I spoke to this guy Peter for 30mins explaining about the design and sent him pictures of other cake designs for reference. He charged me $200 for it and I wanted a garden theme fondant cake with butterflies and flowers on it in hotpink, limegreen girly colors. But when I got the cake, I was so disappointed by the way it looked. It was pale and boring. There was no fondant. instead had icing and some lame design that probably I can design on my own. It was such a disappointment. But one good thing was that the cake tasted great and he charged me $120 instead. But I would have been OK if he charge me even a little more but made the cake I wanted. I would not go back here.

So I was walking along the street when I happened to see macaroons out of the corner of my eye. I had to stop and try them as the assorted colors drew you in. It was a great desert and my favorite was the sea salt caramel along with the rose. I did a little mental math later that angered me a little bit. I paid $19.25 for a box of ten macaroons and they were being sold for $1.75 each. This place would have gotten an easy 5 stars for me if I didnt feel like I was getting ripped off a bit to buy a box. I didnt think about it until after we left though. All things considered. Everything I tried was good. Just remember to buy individually instead of the box.

1. They prefer cash for smaller transactions (I.E. Just Coffee, or a croissant). 2. If you want to sit inside their lounge area, be sure to be quite. Its always silent as a graveyard in there. The room is separate from their register area, so the noise is minimal. 3. Sit outside, in the early morning if possible, and strike up a conversation with some of the regulars. I love their food, their drinks, the atmosphere, the patio, the cake display in the window (which changes periodically, currently they have a Narwal Cake! ). Id say 99.5% of everything about this place is wonderful except how quiet the lounge is.

Alliance bakery is a charming establishment and their coffee is spectacular! I often go in to buy a coffee and end up leaving with one of their delicious almond croissants. Ive ordered a couple cakes from them and their decorators must be the most talented in the city. Michael, the handsome manager, guided me thru every step of the cake ordering process and I was 110% satisfied by the final outcome. I go to Alliance Bakery at lease once a week, and their constantly changing menu always has something new to entice me. All in all I would make this bakery a MUST SEE for all Chicago Visitors and residents.

Incredible cake displays that change seasonally with a front-space that hearkens back to the older style of stores on Division prior to the sports-bar explosion, Alliance Bakery is a worthwhile stop along your jaunt west (or east) in Wicker Park. Dont miss the croissants and pain-au-chocolats. Finally, do take a few minutes to shut off your smart-phones, turn to your fellow diner, and simply savor the streetscape outdoors if weather permits. While the seating outside is minimal, theres far too good people-watching youd miss along with that tasty cupcake. My recommendation for an afternoon pasttime.

Oh wow! Where do I start? Im a red velvet fanatic. This place hit the spot. Decor was very simple but classy. I was on my way to visit some friends and when we walked past the door we could smell the aroma. MMmmmmmmhhh! :) This place had very friendly staff. Im used to just picking up Jewel or Dominicks pastries, so the staff was very helpful and they knew just how to serve what I wanted the next time I came in to purchase some specialty cup cakes for a co-workers birthday. I will never go back to grocery chain pastries again. This is the spot! Keep up the great work!

The service at Alliance Bakery was wonderful. However, I have to be honest. I paid way too much for the cake, and it was not worth that much money. I was really dissapointed at the finished results. The cake was delicious, but a cake from any bakery would have been just as good. I wanted a festive 3D cake, and in the end, it was a piece of cardboard on a sheet of cake. I could have made this cake myself and saved a whole lot of money. Truly listen to these reviews. They are a good representation of what youll get. I know I should have.

Alliance made my wedding cake in July 2013 and they did an excellent job! I wanted a pretty simple design but they made it beautiful, and of course delicious. They were very flexible with options to combine two cake flavors (I had to give my fiance at least one thing he wanted in the wedding planning process...) and they were more than happy to deliver special desserts for our vegan and gluten free guests. Jennifer was really helpful with the few questions I had and our tasting was fun. I highly recommend Alliance Bakery!

Dont let there web site fool you! The pictures might look good, but the staff is rude, mean, and they dont know the first thing about customer service. Peter which is the top chef should be a bus boy because first he has no people skill and does not work with you at all. God forbid if you ask alot of questions too they dont like that. Over all it was my first time and last time to order form them. If i was the boss i would get rid of Peter first then make my way down the list.
