Oak Mill Bakery is the supplied cake vendor for our wedding venue - The Cafe la Cave in Des Plaines. I worked with the Niles store and was impressed by the vast amount of cake portfolios they have available for viewing. I had gone on my own during the week without an appointment and was able to view each binder. My fiance and I returned at a later date for our actual appointment. We picked a great combination of kiwi/strawberry with custard filling and a special sugar coating on the outside over buttercream. Our guests raved about how great the cake was and that they couldnt believe it was real since it looked so stunning! My husband and I ended up eating half of the top layer we took home and froze the rest regretfully. If its not that great after being frozen for a year, we are happy to know we can go over and order another cake at any time! Basia was wonderful to work with. Thank you!

I bought a birthday cake for my daughter. One of my guests found a long and disgusting hair in her piece. I called the Niles location as soon as it happened. She took all my info and said someone would call back. Nobody bothered to call back until I called again. Martha and Claudia suggested because I didnt save their nasty evidence, there was no way for me to prove there was a hair in it. Add insult to an injury... I guess I had to keep it as a memorabilia. DISGUSTING!!!! NEVER AGAIN will I or any of my friends will buy from them again... There are plenty other European bakeries I can go to. Ill make sure to tell everyone around me how Oak Mills customer service works.

Great bakery! We ordered our wedding cake from Bill Tempelaar-Lietz at this bakery. He was very helpful and great! We live in Japan so we didnt actually get to see or eat the cake until the wedding when we were in Chicago for. We were going on basically blind faith but it was totally worth it. Great price and they delivered in downtown Chicago on a Sunday. The cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious. We got a buttercream with chocolate cake and strawberry mousse. It was such a great day and when we walked in and saw our cake we were that much happier. Great job Bill and thanks again.

This place has been our familys go-to for cakes for several years. Our prior favorite was the Vienna Bakery on Addison, which would be undefeated in my book except for the sad fact that they closed their doors several years back. Oak Mill is a great substitute. The old-world style cakes are a hit with traditional Polish folk. I love the detail on the cake decorations and the fact they use fresh ingredients. Never again will you buy a cake from Costco or Jewel - once you try Oak Mill, you will demand it thereafter. Try their hedgehog cake for birthdays - so cute!

We absolutely loved our cake. We had a fall themed wedding. So, when we went to meet about our cake we looked through books and talked with the cake expert about what we wanted our cake to look like. She took down notes and lisened intently. When it was all said and done and we saw our cake on our wedding day, it turned out to be exactly what we wanted. Very beautiful and delicious as well!!! Overall, we had a great experience with Oak Mill Bakery. We ordered from the Niles location.

Ive been here 3 times, and although the food tastes great, the customer service is bland & made me feel unwelcome. My bagel was overdone and hard the first time. The third time my $10 sandwich was slimy because of the soft fried egg that they dont specify about. Its sad to see other customers, regulars?? I guess, be treated w a smile & a warm greeting and feel so annoyed with when I come in... Love the pastries and croissants tho...only reason J gave 2 stars

Though there are many offerings, the Torte "Poznanski" will make your special occasion even more memorable...just take note that your guests will probably beg for seconds! They were extremely pleasant and accommodating when I originally placed the order for pickup at the Wicker Park location, but then called (with a days notice) to change it to the Niles location instead.

Although most of the cakes and pastries come from Niles main store I think that it is solid place to get your sweet taste filled. There are a few better pastry places but they have very limited choice. If you want to try good quality, not sugar loaded cakes it is the place. Large selection of cakes to choose from in unique flavors found nowhere else. Coffee needs improvement.

Best place in Chicagoland, Ive found a complete bakery shop. Familys celebration destination! Tried few other places but mostly ran into disappointing sugar-packed creations. Oak Mill Bakery provides taste of highest quality of savories, my favorite poppy-seed rolls, fantastic fruit packed treats, breads and melt in your mouth cakes! Absolutely my place of choice!

I stop by their North Ave location on my way to work whenever Im craving something sweet. Their breakfast pastries are some of the best Ive had since my travels to France. Even the lunch salads Ive had there have been phenomenal. I would highly recommend OMB to friends and coworkers, and hope to get into one of their hosted multi-course private dinners soon.

The place used to be 5 stars, but it seams like over the years the quality of their product has went down. Its still great but not as good as it used to be. For example the whipped cream and their frosting inst the same. This is supposed to be a European bakery but seams like its being Americanized.

We used Oak Mill Bakery for our wedding cake in May 2015. The cake came out beautiful and tasted delicious. Bill was so helpful from the tasting, to finalizing all of the details, to arranging delivery to the Botanic Gardens. I highly recommend!

They salle now GREEN cheesecake , green from mold . We went there to return it , person behind counter said its not her fault . After driving 45 minutes one way I was expecting little more from one of most expensive bakeries in Chcago land .

Love Oak Mill Bakery! Their goods are always fresh and everything is delicious. The shop has a nice, relaxed atmosphere so its perfect for hanging out and meeting up with friends. Will definitely be returning soon.
