My family recently visited the Champaign-Urbana area of Illinois for the weekend and visited the Original Pancake House on a Saturday morning. My family – my husband and myself, my teenage daughter, my toddler son, and my mom – walked in, saw the crowd of people waiting to be seated and almost walked out. Thankfully I was able to convince my husband to wait in the car with my toddler while my daughter and I got our name on the list and waited inside for a table. Unfortunately, the Original Pancake House does not take reservations, so everyone is forced to wait around inside for an empty table to open up. Our wait time was a little over 35 minutes. The Good: The food at the Original Pancake House was great! There were a lot of different pancake options on the menu. My mom ordered the seasonal pumpkin pancakes and they were delicious! The rest of us ordered eggs and waffles and everything was tasty. The Bad: Obviously the wait time was no fun – especially when visiting with a hungry toddler! The Original Pancake House tries to accommodate everyone by adding bench seating in the waiting area, but it still wasn’t enough for everyone to have a seat. Overall: We enjoyed our meal at the Original Pancake House, however, next time we’ll try to visit at an off-peak time. This place is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Champaign-Urbana area.

The food was good, but they ripped me off. 3 pancakes came with one of the omelette meals(that was already $10) and I just asked them to add strawberries on top of the pancakes. I was fine with the extra change but they charged $3.75 extra!!! Really?? The waitress did not even explain that it would be an almost $4 extra charge. It did not say that on the menu either. They just put like 3 strawberries on top. Ridiculous. Then I asked them why the charge was so high. They said "because theyre fresh strawberries". Yeah but fresh strawberries are in season now!! I can get a whole container of strawberries for that much this time of year... Give me a break! The food was good but Im sorry that charge was way too high. If you are going to charge that much to put an in season fruit on someones pancakes at least let the customer know when they ask for them?? I was ok with an extra charge and was expecting it. But they took advantage by charging me way too much for something that would not cost a restaurant that much to purchase this time of year... That made me mad. I will go elsewhere in town for breakfast next time.

This is probably the best breakfast place in town. The service is always attentive and helpful. The wait time can be long, and they dont take call-ins, so be tactical about when you go and be possibly prepared to wait if it comes to it. The fresh OJ is amazing and they make it in house with a machine in view so that you can see it being made. The pancakes are amazing and gigantic. The egg scrambles are really good. Depending on your preference, the omelettes have a lot of cheese (like about 2 cm of cheese in them), I personally dont like that much cheese. Dutch Babies take a long time, and so keep that in mind if ordering with a group as they wont serve all dishes together.

My family has been going here for years for family holidays. They have a wide range of breakfast options in a friendly family environment that is sunny from the large windows, the air wafting over you with the smell of pancakes, the distinctive clink of their large plates, and the sound of sizzling sausage. (This is the only place in town where I order it.) Be prepared for a wait if you come on a breakfast holiday. The waiting area can get crowded, but the only trouble Ive ever had (if you can call it that,) is an enthusiastic toddler waving a book at me from the activity bin they keep there for kids.

Went here for my birthday brunch on a Sunday. The wait was a good 45 minutes. The holding area was PACKED. Twaitress we had was the worst waitress Ive ever seen. You could tell she hated life and stood against the wall not checking in her section. I had the potato pancakes. Always great. My daughter had the banana pancakes. Delicious. My mother had the bacon Belgian waffles. Really good. Food is always worth the wait. The service was hateful especially since it was my birthday meal out. But Id definitely go back.

When I retire I plan on becoming a regular here. They already know me and I dont really go that often. But, the staff is that good. Ive had everything on the menu but my favorite is the 49r pancakes. Ask to be seated close to the orange juice machine, the kids will love watching it squeeze the oranges right into your glass. Protip: Although the menu doesnt say it the portions are negotiable. You dont have to get 4 pieces of bacon ask for 1 (but you really want 4 dont you?)

Great place for brunch! Large portions and freshly squeezed orange juice. This place is extremely busy on the weekends, especially on Sundays after churches let out. Plan on waiting for 15 - 30 minutes to be seated if you are going on a weekend. I recommend getting one of the (egg) scrambles. They are filling and also come with a side of two pancakes. TIP: You have to pay the bill at the cashier table up front, not with your server.

The orange juice outstanding, and a must have. Not a huge fan of corn beef hash, but my brother in law ordered it and it was amazing. I got one of the scrambles and a side of pecan pancakes. Everything was amazing! A bit of a long wait to get a table, but they provide free coffee for those who are waiting. But the reason the wait is so long, is due to the amazing food! A must have place

Amazing service! We were quickly seated and our orders were delivered in a very timely manner. It was full of locals at 6:45 AM, and for good reason! Food was delicious, and not just tasty, but high quality. You were getting your moneys worth. Really enjoyed this experience! Will be remembering this eatery on my next road trip!

Quick and friendly service makes for a short wait, even with the lines that build up on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The menu features excellent pancake and omelette options. (For those visiting Champaign from Chicagoland, OPH uses the same menu as the Walker Bros. Pancake Houses found in the north suburbs.)

Awesome food, love the dutch babies, fresh orange juice, good coffee with real cream etc. Prices may be a bit higher than some of the cheap campus places, but the quality is MUCH higher here than there, more than making up the difference! There is often a wait for tables, due to being a popular place.

This is a popular restaurant; Good luck getting in quickly on Sundays however. Food is great! They have several breakfast options to choose from and is always cooked to order. Prices are a bit higher than the surrounding breakfast places. Service has always been attentive and friendly as well.

Awesome, baby, with a captial A. Puts all other breakfast spots to shame. Great staff. Excellent service. Fresh cream. Butter freshly whipped. You wont be disappointed. Get there early. You will have to wait if you get there after 10am, but it is well worth the wait. Outstanding.
