AWFUL. Avoid at all costs. We had heard from friends that this was a good place, but apparently that was before new management took over. I ordered a carryout order that I was told on the phone would be ready in 30 minutes. I arrived 30 minutes after I placed the order, and found that not only was the place packed with people waiting for their food (several said theyd been waiting an hour or more), I too had to wait another 30+ minutes for my order to be ready. All told, it took over an hour to get my food. When I got the order home, all the dishes were ice cold and greasy, indicating the stuff had just sat back in the kitchen for 45 minutes instead of being boxed up and brought out to me when done. (And this was after Id asked for my order status at least three times!!!) The food we brought home was overpriced and barely edible. Several people waiting for their orders in the lobby told me theyd been patronizing the place for 20-plus years, but that since the place had changed owners it had gone way downhill. I called to complain about my order, and the girl offered to recook the entire thing, but I told her not to bother since I would never go there again. STAY AWAY.

This restaurant resides inside a plaza right at the intersection of W Dundee & S Buffalo Grove Rd, and it’s hiding in a corner so you would not see it until you walk all the way deep into the plaza. The first time I went there for lunch was with my coworkers, who recommended this place. The decoration inside seems fairly old, but not to a point that will affect your appetite. The owner is very friendly, and knowledgeable of all the dishes on the menu. He seems old, but communication is not a problem at all. Yes, he speaks English. Lunch special is definitely the way to go if you go there during lunch, the dish portion is very generous if you ask me. I really like their hot & sour soup, it hits the spot every time. The food are not bad, nothing fancy or out of ordinary. The food is served fresh & hot, and the speed of service is not to bad considering that day we had 4 people dining in. By the way, make sure to check your fortune cookies when you’re done with your meal. Often time those fortunes don’t make any sense, and can be quite funny.

Previously had good experiences the last two times we ordered our food from here. Tonight we ordered our dinner from here and it took over an hour to get to our house because one of the employees did not speak good English and could not find our house. My husband ordered chicken fried rice. He is highly allergic to shrimp & we found pieces of shrimp in his chicken fried rice. He had to take benydryl. I was going to call them but it took them past their closing time to get to or house and now they are closed. Really unhappy.

This is your classic old fashioned Chinese looking restaurant that is family owned and they are so nice! They will seat you immediately but sometimes its hard to get through on the phone to place a carry out order because its just the family members working. The portions are HUGE for the price and the fact that you get free egg rolls for carry out is a bonus! This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the area and I would recommend the "General Chicken" to anyone!

Terrible food. Didnt like anything we ordered which included egg rolls, beef and broccoli, general tsao chicken, sesame chicken, fried rice. Got the order home and didnt have the egg rolls and the beef fried rice was a combination rice. I called them and they were good enough to bring the egg rolls and beef fried rice to my house, but since none of it tasted good it didnt make things better. Wasted $32!

Stopped her for lunch. Service wasnt the greatest, Our waitress didnt even ask us if we would like a drink other than water. The food came out quickly however I was a little disappointed that there lunch special doesnt come included with an egg roll. The food was okay at best, definitely nothing special. I will probably try something new next time Im in the area. PS- dont order the orange chicken.

They ruined Christmas dinner! Ordered food hours ahead of time, they were unprepared, waited there 45min before someone finally said they had lost the order and they were so backed up they couldnt get to our order. We have no dinner now. Then some one who worked there came out to yell at the customers about how they are trying to do the best that they can. Not even sure what we are going to eat!

I have never had a bad experience here. This is my go to place and everyone is so nice. When they switched management I was skeptical to say the least but I really love this place. I bring everyone here. The food is amazing and has so much flavor. The service is punctual and so warming and will make you smile on a bad day. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Bump it to 5 stars please not 4.5! After 1 year and 4 months living in Wheeling I have found my chinese restaurant. Tried all the ones in the area and my wife and I found ourselves disappointed every single time. New Golden Dragon is the BEST! Service is beyond what I expected and the food is delicious! My #1 and only chinese food place from now on.

Nice and cozy restaurant. Staff is very good and friendly. The manager who took our order was gentle lady. Delivery was unexpectedly fast. Quantity of the food was ample too. We ordered lo-mein, shrimp pineapple rice, garlic chicken and fu yon. Everything was good and tasty. Definitely we will visit again

My favorite for their inexpensive combination lunches (including soup, egg roll and main course with rice) and for dinners that are sufficient for doggy bags. Closed on Tuesdays, and located in the corner of a mall. Atmosphere is clean and informal.

Delicious food and great service. I come here often for the great lunch specials, and I love the complimentary hot tea and almond cookie as well as the won ton soup. Definitely worth trying
