We went out to celebrate my landing a new job. It was a big deal for us and a nice meal would have really topped off a great day. We chose to go to Piccolos, even though we have had some problems there in the past. The wait staff was fine; though they were slow with getting service to the table it was a Friday night and busy. When we got the food, my order was wrong. They put the wrong steak on the table and then whipped it off somewhere else. Ive worked in restaurants for years and know that mistakes can happen. They went to cook my order. During the wait we saw that my daughters pizza was very undercooked and the crust was grossly limp. They replaced it with a childs spaghetti. I waited quite a while on a med-rare steak, but was cool about the whole thing not wanting them to rush it and give me a rare steak. When the steak finally did arrive it was a cold rare. It had basically been seared and sent on its way. By now everyone has eaten and Im just sitting there with this piece of undercooked crap. Seriously, if you cant manage to get a med-rare steak to a table in 45 minutes then you are in the wrong business. Apparently, it was too difficult for these guys to pull off. I told the floor manager to just take it, Ive been sitting there for too long and didnt want anything from them. They offered to box it up and comp it. I didnt go there to have a boxed up meal. She then had the gall to tell me that this was their med-rare, implying that there is not a standard or that Im too stupid to know what sort of steak I wanted. This really pissed me off. They offered a couple of things, but you know, by now I was spending more time talking to the employees of this place than I was my family and just wanted them to go away. Now the owner comes out and tries to "make things right". Oddly, he seemed to be enjoying this sort of thing. Not screwing up the meal- but coming to the table announcing he was the owner and comping this and that to "make things right". He admits to under cooking the steak to rush it, besides "you can cook a steak more". Really? They sent out food they knew was not up to spec? And charge $25 a plate? Maybe they could lower the prices if they ran a professional place and stopped comping everything. So they screwed up two of four plates. This 50/50 ratio seems to be the magic number with this place. Weve eaten there six or seven times. Half the time we get treated to Tim Piccolo coming to the table comping stuff. This was the last time with me.

Decided to give this place another chance under the new ownership and I was impressed! The staff was very sweet (some a little under experienced but very sweet) and attentive. We all had pasta which was very delicious. The owner visited our table and was very nice...he even gave us a slice of their amazing blueberry cheesecake! Cant wait to return! A must try in Watkinsville!

Horrible. Took 45 minutes for a drink, longer for appetizer. My bruschetta was given away. Didnt even get close to having an actual entree in front of me. Took over an hour for them to tell me they didnt have what i ordered in the kitchen. Both my mother and I were very dissapointed. On mothers day nonetheless. Do not recomend to anyone. Takes skill to be this damn bad.

After three wonderful meals, can say that this sweet little Italian/Latin restaurant is outstanding! Everything is so fresh - especially the salad - and there are unexpected treats (wild caught Alaskan salmon, quail, mussels, bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar). The pasta and various sauces are delicious.

Fantastic food and good service. Their soup and sauces are to die for. Have had several menu options and they have all been excellent. A family run restaurant with nice atmosphere and freindly servers. IMO this is the finest cuisine in Watkinsville.

I called in an order for pickup. The food was outstanding, the white sauce was the best Ive ever had. The salad was very fresh and crisp. Would recommend over any Italian restaurant in the Athens area.

The setting was charming, the food choices were varied, ample, and good, service was polite and helpful, chef came to table. Prices very reasonable. Even with a the 25 minute ride, we will be back .
