I am originally from California and come from a Mexican family. When I first heard about El Mexico I was thrilled to try it out. I usually go two times a week with friends and family. However, today on March 12, 2017 I had the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! The waitress was very rude and messed up my order, then told me I was wrong! She treated my friend and I like we were bothering her and she spoke down to us. This was the worst experience I have ever encountered at a Mexican restaurant. I informed the nice manager and suggested she should probably be nicer to customers especially LOYAL CUSTOMERS. I will no longer recommend my friends, family and coworkers to visit this restaurant in fear they will encounter this waitress. FYI this was my second time dealing with her rudeness and I decided I will no longer spend hundreds of dollars a month at this restaurant.

Food was cold!.. also had a order of regular nachos about $8.00 for them. chips were when you spread out there were a squirt of beans on them.. hardly none. One teaspoon look like smeared on chips... I let the waiter know and asked if a little bit more beans could be added. She said she had to ask her manager, when came back she said that he said no you have to pay for a side order of beans about $2.00.. manager should have come out and looked at my plate. He or she did not come out to see what my plate looked like but just sent the waiter back and said you have to pay for ..wow!

Waited 30 minutes to be seated. Eventually we had to make our own seats. Waited to be served, Noone came. Went to find a server, and a young lady proceeded to come 10 minutes later with no chips, no salsa and complained about how she was supposed to be on break but she decided to come serve us.....okay... thats not our damn fault. THEN she came and finally took our orders. 10 minutes later... No chips, No salsa, No drinks, NOTHING. Our party of 7 left and went to little azios down the street. MUCH better service and MUCH better food. Never again!

Food is SO good, although it can be a little over salted at times. I recommend the enchiladas trio, its a sampler plate of three enchiladas (chicken, cheese, and steak) with different sauces on each. They present a flavor combination unexpected for a small Mexican restaurant. The Queso is really great, especially if you have a picky eater. Service was a little lackluster, but overall good. Definitely going again soon! Entrees range from $7-14, lunch specials are by far the best deal.

I moved from Southern California a few years ago and had been searching for something that could rival the places Im used to. Some had told me Nuevo Laredo, but I wasnt a big fan. We stopped by this place which was off the beaten path this afternoon, and I was impressed. I always judge a reputable greasy mexican joint by the chimichanga. Their chicken chimichanga rocked. Chips were good and salsa had a nice kick. Rung in 11 bucks for 2 people. Best mexican food joint in Atl by far!

The chips taste like the $2 Only chips from Walmart. The salsa is basically diced tomatos with cilantro. The beef in the enchiladas is flavorless, just like the rice and beans. I would definitely not consider this authentic in the least. I am from Texas and have tasted my fair share of authentic GREAT Mexican food. This is not that. The waitress was sweet and the sweet tea was good. If you have actually tasted authentic Mexican food before, I wouldnt recommend this restaurant.

Great food. Im from southern California and love Mexican food. Atlanta has some great Mexican restaurants, especially off Buford hwy, but this place is the best. I had two carne asada and two al pastor street tacos and rice and refried beans, while my GF had veggie enchiladas with rice and black beans. Both were great. The street tacos are perfectly traditional, down to the seemingly in house-made corn tortillas. Well definitely visit again.

I really want to love this place. Only a mile from home. Seemingly original menu. But over several visits I know Id rather drive to Buford Hwy or to Nuevo Laredo to spend the same $$ and enjoy the service and the food. Tonights meal was to feature fall off the bone pork...it did not. And why bring one mint with the bill when 2 people are dining? Lots of folks seem to enjoy it here so your experience may be great...Good luck.

My boyfriend and I think its one of the best aunthentic Mexican restaurants in town. The food is cheap and the portions are big. My favorite is the steak burrito!!! Also, the tacos are amazing!!!!!! Every person that Ive invited their agrees that its a great place. The only con I have to say about the place is that it needs to be renovated because it looks old. Other then that, its a must go place if your close by.

1. My date found an ant in her food 2. Service was friendly but could have been a bit more attentive 3. Waitress sent someone else to close out the ticket after we mentioned the ant problem. I would respected her coming back to check in before we left; maybe she was embarrassed. I wont be going back, but it seems cool to go to for lunch and cocktails. Id say try it once at least, but they seem overrated.

Three people asked me what I ordered because it looked so good. I got the super nachos and beer after shopping around for local Tex Mex. The cheese was actually melted, not queso, and even tho there was only one open seat in the house service was STELLAR. Ten out of ten would recommend. I eat cheaply too!

Lets see, 1 burrito, order of rice and beans, 13.50, much better deals. Rice had no flavor, beans ok, burrito was terrible. Go to Taco Bell, you will be much happier, and.1/3 the price. The beef burrito had rice, tomatos and almost no meat. Good luck in getting a plan beef burrito at this dive.

Seriously some of the best street tacos in the city. Affordable. Traditional. Fresh ingredients. Friendly staff. Scratch made margaritas. What more could you ask for? Do yourself a favor and pay this place a visit--you, your tummy and your wallet wont regret it.

The food here is great! As well as the drinks. Usually get the horchata but the strawberry is so refreshing, so now we have to get both. Loved everything Ive tried but my go-tos are the ceviche and shrimp quesadilla. Staff is friendly too. Thats always a plus.

We love visiting El Mexicano. The food n drink is terrific. Sophia/ manager, is delightful. She is professional and smiles all the time. And Ashley/ newbie, served us up a fine meal and stayed in touch often. Excellent service all around.
