Atmosphere was pretty decent for a relaxing Saturday evening. Food was average Florida at best; which, equates to diner or bar food. Prime rib is something to pass on as they take NO pride in their approach. Cut is decent but flavor is lost in the preparation and storage. The au jus is very flavorful but it is prepared separately from the prime rib and is used as an attempt to cover up the horrible prep work, seasoning and storage care that they deliver in their bar food approach to cuisine. Their shrimp scampi is trash as well. They should rename it shrimp Alfredo and it would raise the dishs grade to average or slightly above average. Their ribs are worth skipping since they simply cut too many corners with this dish as well. Gas station rib shacks take more pride in their ribs then shrimp boat Brandon. Appetizers and desert were good but over meal quality is low to low average at best. Please note we have not tried their fried dishes but if they are as good as their fried appetizers then they are worth trying. ... good luck and hope Brandon and the Tampa area starts stepping their game up in the seafood arena. It is sad that most seafood in the area is on par with Long John Silvers fast food seafood strategy. Quick, cheap and barely edible.

The Shrimp Boat continues to impress every time I go. The menu encompasses local and foreign ingredients and flavors. Definitely not a run of the mill seafood restaurant. The tasting menu featured on Saturdays is a prime example of this. First time I tried the tasting menu: Started off with a lump crab and goat cheese beignet served with a spicy sauce. Ive never had anything like it. Thats why I ordered 4 to go after the meal. Next was blackened swordfish filet served over crab fried rice. I asked to have my fried rice made spicy. The filet was cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dessert our server also asked us if we wanted a chocolate pave or would like to try the chefs new homemade ice cream. She said the chef had recently started to make his own sea salt caramel, and Belgian chocolate ice cream at the restaurant. So we opted for that considering everything else was delicious. We were blown away. The service was great and the food was amazing. It also recently relocated to a larger space, which is very elegant and makes the experience all the more enjoyable.

My wife and I went for lunch -- our first time to this restaurant. The ambiance is a bit upscale, with a glowing, sparkly bar, and smooth jazz on the overhead speakers. We were nearly the first customers in the door for the day, so service was quick and attentive. We were seated with warm bread and cold butter almost immediately. Nice touch: the salt shakers hold pink, artisanal salt. My wife had shrimp Florentine, which was delicious. The ingredients were fresh, the sauce perfectly complemented the large, tender shrimp, and the dish gave her a happily full-but-not-too-full feeling. I ordered a pretty standard fried shrimp "platter" with waffle fries and coleslaw, and it was only okay. It was not platter-sized, it was six shrimp, a cup of slaw and a handful of fries. The slaw was bland, obviously from a bulk-food tub; the waffle fries came from a bag, and the shrimp were unseasoned, nearly flavorless. I made use of the pink salt and cocktail sauce more than I normally would. Verdict: My wife loved it, I did not.

Owner is disrespectful. Had applied there before and he had talked to me as if I was incompetent due to me not having restaurant cooking and acted like my experience of cooking for thousands US Army soldiers was a joke and acted like i could not cook for the very little customers that come in. Not to mention food is horrible, eaten there before and havent eaten there sense then, was hoping to be a line cook there to better the quality of food since me and my fiances food was completely flavor less, you can tell that their seafood is not fresh that it comes frozen just by the taste and not to include our food was luke warm. No wonder they are constantly posting on craigslist for employees.

We have been going to Shrimp Boat for many years (both locations) and have always been very pleased with the taste and quality of the food. Its our "go-to-place" when family come to town and want seafood as they are never disappointed. The new three course meal deal won over many when family came to visit just a couple of weeks ago and my mom said the duck was the best she ever had (and she is not easy to impress!!!). The only reason we did not give it a 5 star rating is the cost is just a bit higher than we feel it should be and due to the portions, not the quality. The food tastes amazing and we have been pretty lucky with the service so no complaints!.

I have loved The Shrimp Boat Grill ever since my first visit at their former location. I still call it one of my favorite restaurants. My only question is, why has the menu changed. My favorite dishes are not listed anymore...;-( When I first visited, I had butter-garlic sauteed shrimp with waffle fries!! Absolutely loved it! At their new location I had their Shellfish Thermidor...and for me, it was to die for!! Scrumptious! I hope that these items get back on the menu. I would love to see more grilled shrimp dishes. The chef is tremendously talented, and I am sure he can create anything! I am faithful to my Shrimp Boat Grill! Thank You Chef Paone!

We were told it would take 20 minutes for a table. After waiting almost an hour I asked what was taking so long. The hostess stated that multiple people had come in with reservations that were priority over waiting list. I understand that but they should calculate that in to their wait time. I chose this place because my husband loves shrimp. Why are you called the Shrimp Boat if you only offer Shrimp 4 different ways?!? The service was terrible. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a salad that they charge $2 extra for that is covered in so much dressing you would be better off drinking it. New to the area but WILL NOT be coming back to eat here!!

This is one of those hidden GEMS that you love to stumble upon. Ive been here five or six times in the last two years and Ive never been disappointed. You can tell all of the food is made fresh in their kitchen. Their servers are very friendly and attentive, the ambiance is just lovely, despite the name (boat). It feels like a very high class establishment but with a budget that is affordable. Three people with full meals, appetizers, drinks etc can eat here for under a hundred bucks. The food is so good, extremely well prepared, delicious etc. My complements to the Chef for sure. If you want seafood this is the place go in Riverview/Bloomingdale.

We went there are few years ago to take my mother out to dinner for mothers day. Everything we tried to order they did not have. Have not been back until today. The reviews were all excellent etc so what the heck well give it another shot. So today is my moms 86th birthday so we decided to take her there for her birthday. We went at 4:30 in the afternoon. The restaurant was not full or anything. They would accept 7 people. I will never ever go there again nor would I recommend them to anyone. Word of mouth says a whole lot.......... P.S. No where on their website does it state ANYTHING about making reservations................
