I had just come back to the states from Afghanistan, and as a tradition when I visit my father in Florida, I take him and my Stepmother out to dinner, and they get to choose. The last time I was in town, it was the Council Oak Steakhouse in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa. For this trip, it was the Stonewood Grill. Honestly, I had never heard of the place, even though in Florida, it is a famous chain with fourteen restaurants total (2013 #’s). I would compare Stonewood to a higher class level than the typical chained restaurants around the United States like Longhorn or Outback, but just under the ranking of a 1-star, working its way up. The atmosphere was pleasing, and conservative, the service staffed was very attentive, helpful, and considerate, along with great menu knowledge, and the quality of food was very good also. I would return. Read the full review on the wine, dine, and Play blog, searching under January 2014 in the blog archive. Thanks

My company has a Happy Hour once a month and the service is usually very good. Tonight was an exception. Service was awful, one lady had to ask three times for a water to go. I asked to see a manager and specifically told the server "I do not need to complain, I want to see about holding another pretty large event here" 20-25 minutes later I was told "The manager said they (cant remember he or she) are busy and cant come out" ITS A TUESDAY NIGHT AND THE RESTAURANT WAS NOT NEARLY HALFWAY FULL??!!?? The manager did not request my name or number. I told the lady "I host a Meetup Group, we usually have a turnout of 35-45 people, mostly drinkers and there are 50 restaurants on this road who would be happy to host us" She apologized. Wow.

What happened to the Brandon Stonewood Grill?! Used to be our favorite restaurant, but the food & service have majorly gone downhill. When you spend over $200 on a meal, you expect it to be good. Ate there a month ago and it was so-so. Decided to give it another try and food was awful. Had to ask for the bread basket - bread was old & stale. French onion soup used to be great - now tastes like water. Ribeye was burned and the 2 bites that werent, had no taste at all. Ditto for the NY Strip my son got. Ordered dessert just to try to have one item that was good - used to like the orange cake - they changed it, too. Icing is now a tasteless whipped cream vs. buttercream. Used to go there 1-2 times a month. So disappointed, were not going back.

I usually go to Stonewood Grill about twice a month for a wonderful dinner. I was there on Saturday and my husband and I ordered drinks which were terrible. My husband sent his back which he never does. On Wednesday evening I came again with another couple and I ordered Lamb shanks with mash potatoes and asperagus. I was very disappointed in the lamb shanks. I go to many different restaurants in tampa and beyond and order lamb when on the menu. The lamb at your restaurant were very thin. There were 6 very thin lamb chops which really made 3 lamb chops for $28.00 which I think is a ripoff for 3 lamb chop. I dont know if I will give Stonewood another chance but If I do, I would never order drinks or lamb chops.

I was absolutely surprised by the mediocrity of this restaurant. After reading some of the reviews, I guess my expectations were too great. We found the food to be very average, if not below average in some ways. My steak tasted very grilled to the point of having the taste of the meat overwhelmed by the grilling itself. It had a charred, almost burnt taste, even though it was prepared medium as I had requested. My wifes salmon had an orange glaze, but came very spicy and this was not indicated anywhere on the menu. Add to this slow service and a largely non-personable wait person, and you get a largely forgettable dining experience.

This is my favorite restaurant! Every time I dine here service is ALWAYS impeccable! I love their menu options and usually try something different evertime I come here. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic. I always make reservations so Ive never had to wait. The house dressing (its a citrus balsamic) is by far the best dressing ever and its made fresh daily. I love the assortment of fresh bread. My favorite is the pretzel bread. That alone makes this place stand out above the rest. Also, the calamari and the dipping sauce is the best Ive ever had!

Went here last night for dinner with my business partner and we were exceptionally surprised on the quality of food, service and cleanliness of the restaurant. The Delmonico steak and Prime rib were tender and cooked perfectly. The sides and caesar salads were delicious too. Maria, our server was amazing. I have had no luck finding a good place for steaks in Brandon, either they come out cold or tough and grizzly along with lousy service. I can tell this is a very well managed restaurant that pays attention to detail. I will be back

Honestly Ive been waiting to come here since I stumbled access the restaurant while in Fort Myers. Unfortunately it didnt live up to expectations. My server was very sweet and slightly attentive. My food was okay. Nothing to rave about. Nor was my pineapple mojito. My significant others mashed potatoes tasted like they were plated WAYYYYYY before the rest of his food. Sad. And my sons Mac and cheese looks like Kraft Mac and cheese. I dont think Ill come back honestly, there are other places that Id rather spend money on.

The service was outstanding! The cocktails were really tasty and consistent. The prime rib was good. Try the blue cheese and balsamic glaze potato chips! They had the perfect amount of topping. The soft pretzel sticks they bring in the bread basket are definitely the best Ive ever had. And that icecream sandwich with cookies and toffee was absolutely amazing. Probably the best cookies Ive ever had. I will likey become a regular here!

Great place to eat in the area. On the nicer side in regards to restaurants for date night in the Bloomingdale, Valrico, Lithia areas unless going around Brandon Mall area or in Tampa. Been here 3 times in past month and the food has been good and short waits once orders have been placed. Nice ambiance and service has been great on all 3 visits. Love their Tuna Steak dinner and my better half loves the crushed grouper dinner.

Im currently dining in this very restaurant and my server is named Abe. As a server for the past 5 years of my life Abe is literally the best server I have ever met in my life. Hes doing a fantastic job. Ive never requested to sit with a server in my life but Abe has made the list of server I have to dine with when I come back. The food is also very good but in the opinion of my boyfriend and I, Abe has made the dining experience.

Choose Stonewood for a birthday celebration from reviews posted on this page. Generally a disappointment. The service was great our waitress friendly and efficient. The food a different story. Our appetizer, mussels, was terrible. Empty shells with chowder poured over them. Our main dishes were an improvement, tasty and well presented. After dinner drinks, specialty coffee everyone enjoyed immensely. All in all just above average.
