Ive been there twice (about a year apart) and both times the service was poor, the fish was low quality, the sushi had too much rice and was not seasoned; our tempura shrimp was not de-veined, small sized and were way too greasy. The udon noodles were overcooked and the broth was bland and littered with lettuce (not Japanese!). The seafood selection entrees were revolting - anyone can dump jarred sauce on overcooked seafood and add hot mayonaise, this was not what we were expecting. We were unable to complain as the waitress never came back to us. The final touch was a cockroach crawling on the wall behind us. This was extremely disappointing. This food is so far from being right its not funny. I will keep looking for a good Japanese restaurant in the bay area....

We went to tampa today n feel very hungry around 4 pm looking fir sushi joint lucky we found ichiban , first we were not sure if they were open but turns out their happy hour from 3-6pm feeling really luckly, we have gyoza n crab ragoon first they were both very delicious then for the sushi we got dancing crab , yummy jr. Tampa, mexican , those sushi roll are just amazing we will come back for sure even takes me 1 hour to come is worth it. The ambiance are very beautiful n elegance, part of traditional n modern , for the Asian restaurant I was impressed how nice n clean their restroom. I will recommend this sushi bar to my family n friends.

Came here for my birthday, tipped our waitress $20 before the meal even started and told her there was more coming if she made sure to take care of us. She did not. Most of the time we were looking for her. Half the time I saw her staring blankly into the back room but not doing anything to serve anyone. I had to continually remove the plates from our table and put them on another table to get them out of our way. The sushi is of acceptable quality. I dont typically like to eat here, and I wouldnt go by myself, but sometimes my friends want to go and I always end up feeling the same way when I leave: Id rather have been somewhere else.

Ive been going for five years and have never had a bad experience. They get their fish fresh every day, or they dont serve it. There are about 40 styles to choose from, along with a large menu of other non-sushi options and more familiar items like American beers, soda, spring rolls, etc. They have ample seating for such a small restaurant without being too crowded, and there is a Japanese-style chairless room for those who prefer to sit seiza-style. My best advice: Friday and Saturday nights can be very, very crowded. Go in the daytime or weekday evenings if possible! Also, get the yellowtail if at all possible. ^_^

Ichiban has always served us quality products. We love everything about this place. Its nice and small, not too crowded. Their hot green tea rocks and their sushi menu has many choices. Also, if you dont find the sushi you like on the menu, you can custom order! Theyll make anything for you! Ive been going here continuously for almost a year now with my boyfriend, and its always great! My only complaint (which isnt really a complaint) is that the rolls are enormous and hard to fit in my mouth!! They also have AMAZING lunch specials that anyone can afford. I highly recommend this place.

Took my kids there for lunch and was very disappointed. They serve such tiny pieces of meat for $11 lunch. My son ordered chicken teriyaki as it is his favorite and he got 5 thinly sliced pieces of chicken. I ordered salmon teriyaki and was overly surprised to received 2 thinly sliced small pieces of fish. See picture. I suggest for you readers not to eat there if youre hungry and if you want more bang for your buck. Anyone can easily make these lunches at home for a bigger portion but for busy people with hectic schedule wanting fast food, this restaurant will be a disappointment.

This was definitely the best sashimi I have ever had! The sashimi platter came with over 28 pieces of fresh fish (good sized cuts too! not the skimpy little pieces), a soup, salad, and a bowl of rice for only $25! It also came with seaweed salad, crab salad, and a few other little things to pick at. The quality of the fish was very good and very fresh! The platter comes with a lot of food for the price - enough to satisfy both myself and my boyfriend! The service was also good. Well definitely be coming back!

Im very picky about my sushi, which most people dont believe because I go to publix for sushi usually to save a bit of money when thats ALL I want and I can get 30 + pieces for the price of 15 in a sushi bar.. however the key is to not be afraid of trying something different! This place is very very intimate inside, the service is friendly, and the rolls you can watch be prepared if you sit at the booths closest to the bar. :) I love love love the dragon roll, the catapiller roll and various others :D

First off, very friendly staff and a nice casual atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was not all that good. My wife and I ordered teriyaki chicken and beef. The beef was at best a $2 steak from Winn-Dixie, very fatty and chewy. The chicken was quite bland. The sesame chicken nuggets as an appetizer also lacked and recognizable flavor. Maybe the sushi is much better, so if you like sushi, I would read other reviews. Two adults and a child got out of here for $45 before tip.

Avoid this place to prevent yourself a headache. I ordered the BBQ Eel and Seafood Udon. First red flag: she gave me the wrong plates. Second red flag: The waitress gave me the wrong bill charging me for sushi (which I did not get). She refused to give me a menu to double check the prices. Third red flag: I gave her $25 and she kept walking around without giving back my change. After waiting for 15mins, I asked another waitress who finally got my change.

this place has amazingly fresh sushi. there are certain kinds of fish i will only eat here, because it tastes so fresh. they have reasonable prices and their specialty rolls are great. their salmon melts like butter in your mouth. it is always crowded so expect kind of slow service. you have to be aggressive at lunch and seat yourself. make sure anyone gets your order because they all help each other out. but trust me it is worth it.

Customer service was terrible !!! As i was writing the deserved tip, i was questioned on the amount i was leaving. They stated it HAD to be 18% when in fine print it reads SUGGESTED tip. Not only this, but as i adjusted the tip change after the comment, higher, i asked about the order we made before to take out. What we got as a respond was, "We cancelled it already, goodbye." Goodbye indeed, and now i advise others to stay away.

Problem with this restaurant is cleanliness. Food is okay but sat at sushi bar, chef dropped cleaning clothe on floor, picked it up and used it again. I stopped going for 6 months, went back sitting at a table and found hair in roll. My husband and son have eaten there many times without problems that they knew of but with sushi, cleanliness is a must. Not going back! Lots of sushi places in town, no need to go back.
