Barbecue is such a divisive topic. Everybody "knows" what the best barbecue is - where it comes from - how its made, etc... lets suspend the subjective notions of BBQ for a moment and discuss objective stuff. This place, Mission BBQ, features various barbecue styles. All I needed to see was North Carolina pulled pork and nothing else really registered. In Tallahassee, Mission Barbecue takes a spot alongside the other chain big leaguers like Sonnys, 4 Rivers and Dream Land. Its hard-opening day today and naturally, staff is high and the interior is immaculate. Im pretty certain it will stay that way. The cole slaw is a smudge sweet for me - but thats a subjective point. Objectively speaking, its crisp - flavorful and complementary to center stage. I would enjoy learning more about the behemoth dual smokers prominently parked on the east end of the line. Id also like to bring my "grown up" photo kit to take some better shots (much like those I took at 4 Rivers when they opened). All the options truly look great. I cant imagine Ill veer off of the NC pulled pork option (once you know what you like, is there time to fiddle with other stuff?) too much but Id be unfair to not try everything at least once. I know, in advance, that it will all be good. Patriotism and demonstrable respect of our armed services is at the core of this establishment - check out the "about us" on their very well laid out website. This is a welcome and refreshing theme and will surely attract active duty and vets alike. Many folks confuse patriotism with conservatism but nothing could be further from the truth (to me). Im a proud liberal who is exceptionally patriotic, the son of a lifer (54-84), and who appreciates the red/white/blue and our men/women in uniform. No single political party is going to hijack patriotism and love-of-country! Bottom line: these guys arent playing around. I take them to be perfectionists. P.s., the GM, managers and staff are all very customer focused. Evident of a thorough hiring process coupled with a structured training program. I was loitering around the front door a week prior to opening and was graciously welcomed inside to check it out!

First time eating there. I didnt find the flavor of the food to be exceptional in any way. The beans were luke warm, definitely not southern bbq. The half yard bird was tender but the flavor of it was not to my taste. Its a bit pricey for what you get. I had cole slaw on the side & it barely filled 2/3 of the container. The Pepsi wasnt mixed right, tasted like carbonated water. Greeted by a young man with a very loud voice. Told him he was way too loud. He thought that was a compliment. I wont be returning nor will I reccommend Mission BBQ to anyone I know.I enjoy southern bbq & this is not it. French fries were luke warm, tasted old, like the oil needed to be changed. They only have corn bread no garlic bread. I did like the ice cubes. They have 6 different sauces on the table. Other sauces are available. They only have Heinz ketchup, again not my favorite. There is a 5 ton (deuce & a quarter) military vehicle parked on the grass. Food didnt taste as fresh as I expected it to. Service was quick & that probably explains the pre sorted portions of institutional tasting food.

I ordered the brisket and 5 ribs, then added on two sides and a drink, expecting to pay around $25, but was told my bill was just $13. Seems the cashier ordered me the sampler, which in hindsight was good for me because both selections were short on flavor. Worse yet, the brisket was dry and the rub hardened on it was also devoid of flavor. Brisket should ooze liquid, but I had to dip mine in their sauce to make it edible. The sauce was decent, certainly not mind-blowing. The ribs are advertised as fall off the bone. Mine did not. They were moist and tender, certainly juicer than the brisket, but again the rub on the outside was tasteless. Sauce was certainly needed to induce flavor. Ribs should be able to stand alone and these did not. The service was friendly, fast and impeccable, other than shorting my order. The fries were good and the corn on the cob the highlight of the meal.

Wow! Tried Mission BBQ last night and I couldnt be more impressed with the quality of food and the outstanding service from EVERYONE! The food is amazing! No microwaves or freezers. Salmon was excellent! Turkey was the best Ive ever had at a restaurant. I didnt have the blehhhh feeling you get after having BBQ. Tea was superb too! They had a lot of sauces to choose from, but the food was so good I didnt want to ruin it with the sauce! They pay special attention to our first responders and Veterans - well done! Apple cobbler was soooooo good. Say "Hey" to Courtney when you go! She was fabulous to talk to! Cant recommend enough! My kids wanted to go back again today!

Great BBQ, friendly & fast service! I loved eating here for multiple the reasons: the staff was very kind, the food was really fresh, the helpings are large, there are many different (delicious) options for BBQ sauces, and the bathrooms were nice and well kept, the overall decor is fun and tasteful. Dont forget to mention if you serve (or did previously)- my dad, who is a retired fire fighter, got an amazing free dessert! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese, fries, and blueberry cobbler. 10/10 for my hangry self. Really looking forward to coming back!

Food was great, same setup as Four Rivers but the taste and quality is better. Mac N cheese and the green beans are so good. Brisket was also great and I loved being able to try six different BBQ sauces. The bread pudding is seasonal so you need to try it now. It is very buttery and moist without being too sweet. Btw, Veterans have parking spots in the front and if they dine in, they get a free dessert which is the freaking bread pudding right now! Glad to have better BBQ in town. We were disappointed by Sonnys and Four Rivers.

I ordered the pulled pork sandwich ($6.97) and made it a XL combo (one side and a drink $3) my wife ordered the salmon ($9.99) a side salad ($2.19) and a water. The total bill was $23.70. I dont mind paying for good food but this food was medicore at best and way over priced ($7 for a sandwich). The pulled pork was dry like it had been warmed up in a microwave and the salmon was just ok. Maybe Ive been spoiled growing up eating at Fresh Air BBQ in Jackson GA but I wont be going back to Mission.

Went last week with my bf and baby..the portions look small but once you finish eating, its just the right size. Price is reasonable, not expensive. Great food, i am a BBQ lover and the sauces were okay, sonnys sauce is better and sweet baby rays is still the best in my opinion, but there were 6 options to pick from and i mixed 2 together which turned out good..the Mac n cheese was awesome!! Bf said these were the best ribs hes ever had. We will definitely be going there quite often.

The staff are friendly, helpful and they keep the restaurant clean. Food is served alicart and is very tasty. The mac and cheese is a must for a side. The brisket, half of chicken and turkey is delicious and moist. There are about nine types of bbq sauce. They even have great salads if thats your kinda thing. The Patriotic theme in the restaurant makes you feel proud to be American. Mission gives back to the community and service members they serve as well! The food is great.
