PHENOMENAL My boyfriend watched Food Network and immediately decided he was taking me to Georgia, hes known Ive wanted to go for the peaches...he however wanted to go for the BBQ. BEST DECISION EVER. We arrived at Fox Bros around 930 on a Saturday night. It was busy, we were met with a 1 1/2 hour wait. That didnt stop us! We were going to wait, we didnt hop on a plane with this destination in mind just to walk away with empty bellies. We were lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar and were able to order there, bypassing the wait. Woohoo!!! AWESOME! He ordered the Fox Bros "Burger", their take on a burger, made with chopped brisket, pimento cheese, bacon...and more! The same one he had eyed as it danced across his TV screen. I on the other hand ordered a combo plate. I wanted variety, I LOVE smoked meats, I love BBQ and I can never decide so a combo plate was a must. I chose pulled pork and chopped brisket with mac and cheese and brisket chili. The meats arrive naked (no sauce!). YUM! The service was great, the food was hot and it went beyond our expectations. The meats were smoky and pure perfection, tender and delicious and begging to be devoured. The mac and cheese was both creamy and cheesy and not a single crumb topping to be seen (THANK YOU!! I cant stand crumb topping). The brisket chili was the best Ive ever had. Trying everything in a single bite all mixed together was superb! My boyfriends burger was amazing as well. We made eyes at each other. This was GOOD stuff. ORGASMIC We watched others inhale their food with enthusiasm. Tender flaky cornbread. Smoked chicken wings sucked right off the bone, bones discarded for the next bite. The biggest and most awesome beef short rib Ive ever seen...it was the most tender rib Ive ever seen, the beef just melting off of the bone in lovely shreds. OMG Our meal was pure perfection and weve had a lot of Texas BBQ, a lot of BBQ in general from ALL over. Hands down this has got to be the best weve ever had. We were proud members of the clean plate club Saturday night. Even the BBQ sauce was amazing, I could have drank it with a straw! They have their own sauces, a traditional and a spicy. Both mouthwatering flavors! We bought 3 bottles to take home with us! WORTH IT If youre in the area and you want some great food this should make your to do list. Its worth the wait should there be one. Youll go away satisfied. While sitting there we made plans to return again next month for a day trip. For the food. My mouth is watering just thinking about it and I CANNOT wait!!!!

I just happened to catch one of those Foodie shows that displayed Fox Brothers and the comments were all outstanding. I thought, nawww...not in Atlanta...no way. Fox Brothers brings a slice of Texas to Georgia...no way. Well, I can state for a fact, they did and they do it well, very well indeed. The area off either 75/85 & 20 is not the best/safest; you know, cash for your car, bars on windows, gang markings on walls of buildings (everywhere), etc. When you get within a block or two of the restaurant, Millennials & Gen Xers have been buying in this area rehabbing the homes. So on street parking was fine, youll be safe. Just dont walk more than 5-blocks away in any direction...youll be fine. Three of us started off with their Texas fries with the pulled pork option minus the jalapenos. Oh my... If you dont control yourself, you will literally eat the whole plate and have no room for your meal. These fries were off the hook! Just dip them in the provided ranch dressing and try to stop yourself. I had the brisket platter, ordered it on the fatty side with chili-mac & jalapeno corn-bread. The brisket was succulent, pulled apart with ease, extremely tender, not over-seasoned, and I lightly put their base BBQ sauce on it...WOW! I havent I had that taste sensation since my last trip to Austin. The brisket today was as close to Texas as you can find in the state of GA! The chili-mac was more than the name implies. It was shells & cheese, with a pulled pork mixture of chili. I could of ate a bucket of it! It was fantastic. I didnt think it could get better until I tried the warm jalapeno corn-bread with butter. I was ready to dance. The flavors were fantastic and popping. This is a meal where you need to take a small bite of one item and add a quick 2nd bite of the jalapeno corn-bread to allow the flavors explode in your mouth. The pull pork sandwiches were also served with tater tots and again, this meal nailed the mark. The pull pork was cooked to perfection, and extremely tender too. Even the tots were served crispy, not over-cooked whatsoever. Can you tell Im stoked? I finally found great BBQ in the Atlanta area...thank you Fox Brothers! The hour plus drive each way was well worth the insanity of the downtown connector! Simply put...get in your car and go! NOTE: They give Military discounts too

For all the hoopla, I expected a lot more. To begin, it will be very crowded. The police officer that walks the premises will tell you it is always 1 1/2 hour wait on weekend nights. Parking is a nightmare, plain and simple. There is nowhere else to park (really, nowhere else), and the lot is very small. People park at all kinds of weird angles, and everything is super crowded (hence the need for the cop). Many double and triple park, and we had to wait a long while for the cop to find the owner of the truck that had us blocked in. After finally getting seated (you know it is a long wait if they provide free water for people), you get a chance to look around. The decor is interesting, but again they have crowded everything as much as possible to maximize table seats. We were forced to sit on the patio, which isnt all that pleasant. Every table had ants galore. About halfway through our meal, they brought a small candle for all the tables and then lit them. I thought this was a super nice touch until I realized it was citronella. Within minutes, it was extremely obvious why they use them. Expect to get bitten a lot. They do have an open air smoke pit where you can watch the cook chop up the brisket. Kind of fun to watch that part. With regard to the food, I was not impressed. Expect extremely seasoned meat. In fact, it tastes exactly like Dales meat seasoning...just WAY to much smoke taste. It was so unpleasant, I couldnt finish my brisket and didnt even want to bring it home (wife declined too). Speaking of brisket, mine had excessive fat (I know, brisket is about the fat...but too much isnt good). They do have some interesting recipes, so that is a really big plus. The menu prices are high for this kind of food, with two brisket sandwiches, fries, slaw, and sweet teas coming to 36 dollars. We will go back to try some of the other unique recipes. All in all it wasnt too terrible, but certainly doesnt live up to the hype. There are definitely better BBQ joints out there.
