So I tried out Gaines Street Pies when they first opened. I dont like giving anyone 1 star, so Im giving them 2, but I dont know if Id ever go back on my own without someone convincing me to retry it. I was pretty disappointed. First, when I walked in, there were boxes laying on the floor by the entrance, they ran out of ice, there were no napkins or seasonings (salt, cheese, pepper) on the tables and you had to get up every time you needed any because they only had a handful at the counter. Also, you had to pay when you ordered (and the receipt asked for a tip) - and I gave them a tip. I really wasnt happy about that considering the service was practically non existent. They brought the pizza out and never came back until they needed the pizza pan back. And they just simply said "Can I take this for you?" and grabbed it and never came back. Also, I wasnt impressed with the pizza at all. In my opinion, it was slightly better than a chef Boyardee pizza kit. The only thing I did like about the place is their tables had star trek/star wars images under the plastic/glass on the table tops. Im not star wars or trek fan, but I thought it was neat.

I absolutely love this place. Hipster vibe, local business founded by local high school alumni, great variety of creative pizzas, laid back atmosphere, full bar, cool artwork on the walls... Originally it was in a building that used to be the most famous comic book store in town in the 90s, but it recently moved down the block to where it is now because they needed more space... anyway, thats why the comic book themes. My only gripe is that in the "____ Pies" chain, which includes Midtown Pies and Northside Pies, the menu seems to vary at each location, so sometimes if you really like a specific pizza, you need to go back to that specific location to get it. :/ Granted that adds unique charm to that location, but its also a pain when thats what youre craving and that location in inconvenient at the time.

So Ive lived in Tallahassee for about 3 years and Ive gone to Gaines street pies maybe like once a month, most months. They have really good pizza, always fresh, but I recommend getting a whole pizza instead of "by the slice", because like any pizza place, by the slice means a pre-cooked cheese pizza, then they add toppings and throw it in the oven. Not ideal. But expected. Just bite the bullet and order a small pizza, youre an adult, you can handle it. Its totally worth it. Idk if youre a dipper but I am, and I LOVE their ranch dressing. Get a cup and dunk your pizza in it. Favorite pie: METAL MIKE

Delicious pizza in a slightly nerdy and fun setting. There is also some beer on tap. Their pizza crust is thin, toppings are numerous, and each pie comes out hot and fresh. As others have noted, their parking lot is terrible. If its raining, it turns into a mud pit. It also only accommodates 10-12 cars at best, and it is shared with other businesses. Unfortunately, there arent any close parking alternatives. Either Railroad Square or College Town garage will do, plus the walk can help burn the delicious food youll partake.

Went there with a couple friends. Id say we had a well rounded initial experience of the menu. I myself got a slice of pizza, the girlfriend got a calzone, and an accompanying third wheel got a sandwich - all were made fresh hot to order. Everything tasted great. Location is not bad at all, especially for nearby college kids and state workers; neither of which have to walk too far to get there. Ill definitely be passing through in the future. Count on it.

Quality has dropped drastically since the last time I was there... Make sure you check your order when getting take-out. Got home and my pizza toppings were incorrect. That, or they need to fix their menu online. Very disappointed with I was presented. The container my spinach dip came in was squished to half its size and the pita was soggy. Not worth $23 for a small pizza and a plate of dip. Dont even want to eat this.

We decided to pick up pizza for dinner after my father had previously had a wonderful experience with this establishment, I believe the word he used was "tremendous". However this time around the pizza and service were far from exceptional. While I will say the quality of ingredients used seems to surpass those used by other establishments, the pizza itself was incredibly bland, and the customer service was sub-par.

Originally from Long Island, NY, Im an insufferable snob about a lot of things. One of them is pizza. GSP is the only place from which I would get pizza after they opened. Before that, there wasnt a real pizza place in town. Now, as a vegan, I still eat here. They have several vegetarian and veganizable options. One pie, The Temptation is natively vegan. Its absolutely delightful.

Service was ok if a bit brusque. Flavor of slice pie was wonderful, but a 1/5 on the toppings. I got a few pieces of onion, a few mushrooms, 6 or 7 pieces of spinach and 4 thin slices of roasted red pepper per slice. LAME LAME LAME. If Im going to pay for the toppings above the price of the slice with none added in, you had better give me some veggies.

Gaines Street Pies serves some of the best pizza in town! The dough is always fresh, and they have a variety of different pizzas to choose from. The wait staff is very friendly and super attentive to their customers needs. I highly recommend eating at Gaines Street Pies the next time youre craving a quality pizza!

Best pizza in tally better than Brooklyns, Mikes, and momos by far! Great crust and cook style, innovative specialty pizzas, amazing salads, and BTW custom by the slice pizza as well as 2slice and a drink $6 special. Comic book theme is super cool and allows for a friendly enviornent. Love this place

Coming from the NYC area, I miss the pizza there. This is the closest thing to it Ive found. From the ambience, to the excellent crust, to the great toppings. I eat here about once a week, and absolutely LOVE it. The lunch special (2 slices, 1 topping + drink) for $6 is the best deal going.

Gaines Street Pies is my favorite pizza in Tallahassee. Fresh ingredients, premium meats, homemade sauce and a warm environment. The handmade comic book tables and week night events offer a community feel with Sunday screenings of Walking Dead and Thursday night trivia rounds with Hank.

I love this place. Been there SEVERAL times and have never been disappointed. Its everything I love in one place. Pizza, Superheroes and a bar from War Horse connected to it. The Pizza is super good, the community are all polite and the pizza comes out fast. A "go to" for Tallahassee

Ive been here twice. Both were in the top 10 pizzas Ive ever eaten. It is leaps and bounds better than any other pizza places in Tallahassee, which isnt meaningless. There is some really good pizza in this town. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.

Everyone had me so excited to try gain street pies but I was extremely disapointed the food was terrible the marinara they give you is like eating salsa. The people where friendly but I rather go to an original local pizza place like Momos or Decent pizza
