This place, as ALL other restaurants on Sanibel Island, are very slow this time of year. My wife and I decided to eat here with our 16 month old son and we had a fantastic time! We even came back for breakfast the next morning! There may have been 2-3 tables in there at the time we were there, but the service was fast, friendly, and they couldnt have done more to please my wife and son. My wife has many allergies and they were happy to double check everything to make sure she didnt have a reaction. My son isnt so picky, but he was popping the bluberries from his berry french toast like they were candy! It was an eclectic atmospher with hand painted tables and giraffes stuck in every corner and in the ceilings...this seems to be a big thing for restaurant themes on the Island. Animal mascots and wacky designs. The food I must say was the highest quality we encountered on the island, there are jsut ways to tell if a place is cutting cost on food or on service. Most cut it on both and they were easy to spot with angry and anxious servers that knew nothing of the menu or their tables orders, or peculiar odors when you walked into the establishment. This place was NOT one of those, but one of the cleanest. That even includes their bathrooms! The manager was especially friendly and commented that the owners eat here nightly, that must be why the food was so good! Go here if you want to miss a bad tourist dive, but still want the island fun that Sanibel has to offer without sacrificing the quality of food.

Well prepared, Fresh and Friendly...My wife and I took our 2 children over to Captiva Island for our anniversary for the weekend of April 30th, 2011 and on our way back to Weston, Florida we stopped into the Blue Giraffe restaurant because my daughters favorite color is Blue and her favorite animal is a Giraffe! I had the Sesame Crusted Salmon with petite roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables and Wow! I eat out often and this was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The Salmon was juicy and cooked to perfection, the roasted potatoes were perfect and well seasoned and the vegetable were steamed I believe because they were still crisp and lightly seasoned. I was tempted to ask for more potatoes and vegetables and if we were eating family style i would definitely taken seconds. The decor was country casual with lots of beautifully crafted and painted art and little stuffed Giraffes hung from the ceiling! The staff all worked together well and we needed for nothing! My kids eat almost everything on their plates as well which is a great feat in and of itself and our trip home went very well. Everyone left fully satisfied! I will be dining here again next trip over to the East Coast of Florida!

I rarely write reviews for restaurants but the food here was bad enough I am taking the time to do it. I am giving the restaurant 2 stars because the service was friendly and fast. This did not make up for the truly horrible food we were served or the high price we paid for it. Our bill came to $115 for a family of five, which is a reasonable price for high-quality food. I had an appetizer of the crab cakes - it was almost inedible. Frozen seafood waaaaay over fried. It was like eating a bad frozen fish stick. Coconut battered shrimp for the entree - again waaay over-fried, dry and not made with fresh ingredients. My sons macaroni and cheese was Kraft, my other sons hamburger was dry and cold, and my daughters pasta was cooked penne in a jarred sauce. My wifes cobb salad greens were withered and the chicken in it had obviously been stored with fish as the whole thing tasted like spoiled seafood. This is a meal I could have purchased at a supermarket and made at home for $20.00. It was really, really bad. If you are visiting Sanibel, consider eating elsewhere. The restaurant was clean, service was good, staff was friendly and helpful...the food is atrocious and way over priced.

We, unfortunately, did not have a good experience. We were trying to be polite and eat outside since we had two young, rambunctious children. We had to get our own napkins off of the serving cart. We were not given silverware until our food arrived. Our entrees were to be served with a basket of bread, which we never saw. Finally, we were a party of 4 and the gratuity was already added to our check. We know the service could have been better because the party of 6 with no young children at the table next to us were greeted politely, received silverware and napkins upon being seated. Their basket of bread was brought out to them and the gratuity that will be added to their check is because they have 6 diners which is what it states on the menu. When we questioned the host about it, he along with the waiter blamed everyone but themselves for our poor service. They did credit us $2.70, but left the gratuity exactly the same. We were extremely disappointed because we were so excited about eating there.

Great service and food. Went there with my wife and 6 year old son - I had pasta Diablo and my wife had pasta pacifico. Huge portions and tons of grouper, mahi and shrimp in my dinner. Perfectly cooked and definitely $20 worth of seafood. Perhaps a little heavy handed on the cayenne, but it IS called Diablo and I did order it medium spicy - glad I didnt order the full heat. My son had a grilled cheese and chips - attention to detail all the way and my son loved the perfect grill lines on his sandwich. The chips appeared to be made in house and were great (yes, I stole one!) Everyone was super friendly and our waiter Chase was great - the guy hustled and my coffee never got below half full. Well worth stopping by, and next time we come to Sanibel well definitely be back.

Food was very tasty - unfortunately the service was not. It took a while for the waitress to get to our table (my sister said she saw the manager say something to her). Since it took so long we were ready with our orders. Food was EXCELLENT (crab-stuffed salmon, it was outstanding, and the sauteed vegetables were good) but we didnt see our waitress again for a long while....I had to literally walk over to her and ask if she wouldnt mind coming back to our table. By that point we had decided against dessert or any more wine since we thought it might take another hour.

We went here after waiting 30 mins for another restaurant thought they we would give it a try because it was my first time in Florida and why not. It took forever to get our drinks and then forever for our food to come out and it was not busy just one other table in there. Finally when it came out my salmon was under cooked and raw completely through the middle. So I told the guy cleaning the tables and order something else. They did not apologize or offer any money off the bill for something that could have made me very sick. save yourself and do not come here.

Friendly staff, although when we first walked in, we did feel like we were ignored for a brief moment. However, the nice girl behind the bar made up for it. We sat outside, and that was lovely. Our server was prompt, courteous, I wish I remembered his name! The food was good, chips for an appetizer excellent, but they are a bit pricey. Overall a good meal in a really nice atmosphere. Will come back if Im ever out on the island again!
