Let me start off by apologizing to all of the fans of this restaurant. I am truly sorry for what I am about to write. We had heard from a local that the burgers at this place were good so we decided to try it out. From the minute I walked into this dive I knew that it was going to be bad....this place is filthy. When you look down you see dirty carpets and when you look up you find dusty cobwebs in the rafters. I know that the place is supposed to have a Fifties feel to it but cmon man it looked like it hadnt been cleaned since the fifties. Service took too long and when he finally came over to take our order he said "Do you know what you want??" (I should have told him yeah, I wanna get out of here). Enough said about the waitstaff...I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say that it must have been his first day of work....on his first job ever. At this time I am not going to attempt to describe the food that we attempted to eat because I am getting nauseous just thinking about it. Now I am not a picky eater by all means, but when I have to CHOKE down a burger, you know there is a problem. There were more onions and red peppers then actual burger and I had to cut it with a knife and fork to eat it. It was so greasy that it immediately fell apart the first time I picked it up. I thought I would be able to wash down the slop in my mouth with a handful of fries or onion rings (if thats what you want to call them)....WRONG, they sucked as well. (Ok I just threw up in my mouth a little bit) Honestly, I truly believe that the entire meal had been sitting under a hot lamp for about an hour before being served to us. The best part of my meal was the mason jar of water. I NEVER write reviews....ever....but I feel this one had to be written. Especially after reading all of the reviews before mine. I hope that the earlier reviews show a true reflection on what this place is really like and hope that my experience was just a one time nightmare. I guess I will never really find out because my family and I will never return.

We absolutely would never return to this restaurant. We went here for an early dinner, looking for a place to grab a quick meal (we were not expecting a fine dining experience by any means). The service was horrible-beyond slow, especially since the restaurant was nearly empty. The drinks come in small mason jars and mine was refilled once during the meal, and my boyfriends was never refilled (although it was empty when she refilled mine). After 20 min. our server finally brought the bill, and although I had my credit card ready, she quickly walked away without it. Another 10 min. passed and we finally went and found our server, who was chit chatting with 4 other servers, and handed her the card. Dont waste your time or money here-the food is ok, however the dumpy atmosphere and terrible service make this the worst place we ate at during our trip, by far.

Reading through these reviews I didnt notice anyone mentioning the salad. I am a salad lover, and it was one of the best salads Ive had. I had the side salad along with the build your own burger, which was also excellent. I saw in the menu they also offered a build your own salad, which I would love to try another time. The servers were great, the prices were good, and the atmosphere was great. My husband and I loved listening to the oldies music from when we were young. The only negative was that my husband said his whole wheat bun tasted stale. He ended up just eating the burger without the bun. However, I had the rye bread with my burger and it was excellent. If I could give this a 4.5, I would, because of my husbands bun...but since I cant, I will give it a 5 since my food was great, and I am the one writing this...LOL

Stop by for dinner. Was not that busy, but expected this time of year. Seated promptly. Restaurant was hot inside, I later found out in other places it was cooler. Dont sit by the windows. Ordered our burgers how they wanted and they were prepared to our liking. Also ordered the onion rings. Food arrived fairly quick. Burgers were very juicy, the way I like them. My husband thought they were too greasy. Guess it depends on your preference. We both thought the meat was very bland, needs more seasoning. Onion rings were ok, they were greasy. Place is starting to show its age. Chair cushions are cracking. Restrooms are not in the best of shape. I would go back, but not anytime soon.

This was my first time at Cheeburger Cheeburger, and I wish there were one closer to where I live so I could go again sooner! I have to say that the location and atmosphere really caught the "feel" of Sanibel Island, though I thought some of the furnishings (table and chairs) were a little "old" feeling. The burger I had was cooked perfectly, and was one of the best "thick" burgers Ive had. The fries were also a home run - perfect balance between seasoning and potato. Someone in our party ran into some confusion with milkshakes (chocolate versus black and white), but thanks to a patient waitress, he was able to get it how he wanted.

So sad to see this place slip. Its been a family tradition for decades. But its no longer on our must visit list. The food was decent but we were not asked how we wanted our burgers prepared. Our server never asked if we wanted refills. By the time she checked on us after someone else delivered our food we were done eating. It takes really bad service for me to get annoyed and I was very frustrated by the time we left. Oh and it was not busy at all. I always tip 20% & sometimes more if service is exceptional. Because we were a party of 6, 18% was automatically added. Server didnt deserve 10%. Thats how bad she was.

I had heard a lot of good things about this place, but I found that it didnt live up to all the hype. I ordered a hamburger, which ended up being complicated given how they go about adding condiments. The food took forever to come, and they werent busy at that time, only two other tables of people when we were there. My burger was very dry and hard to swallow. Initially, I only ordered water, but the water tasted very odd (from a tap). I got a shake just to help try to get that dry burger down. Wont be going back there.

Great place for burgers. You can choose: the size of the burger, the bun, the cheese, sauces/condiments, and toppings. The french fries and onion rings are on par with the best youll find at burger joints. The atmosphere is beach casual and the service is friendly and efficient. Its not so great if you dont want burgers, but then why come here. Didnt have a shake this trip but I recall them being excellent. Only issue was with my wifes burger, which was a bit overdone. Will not hesitate coming back.
