Now, I can usually deal with slow service, or even a server who lacks skill or knowledge, but couple that with bad food, and Im writing a review. Aside from the décor and outside patio, there really isnt much to like about Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant. We visited this location for the first time several weeks ago, and despite disappointment at that time, we decided last night to give it another try. First, the service is truly subpar. While we were seated with minimal wait times each time we visited, our servers were slow and lacked menu knowledge, as well as some basic serving skills. The highlight of service was being brought chips and salsa right away. The fact that it didnt wind up in my lap is truly incredible. Last night, our server was almost timid in his delivery of our food. I was actually afraid at two separate points in our experience that I was going to end up in the ER with burns caused by the way he crossed over me twice, with his hands almost trembling, to serve our hot food. Well, maybe not the ER (the food wasnt all that hot), but I was sure Id wind up walking out of there with a very embarrassing stain on my crotch. (Heres a hint to all new servers: do not cross over seat ones space to serve seat 2 when serving to a 4 top table. Come behind seat one, and serve seat two). My dining companion and I each ordered the pick two fajitas. I ordered the shrimp and pork, and he ordered the shrimp and chicken, and we ordered a kids chicken and fries for my daughter. Out first, my daughters meal - which is fine that it came well before ours. She is a slow and picky eater, so that kept her occupied. Oh, and her chicken and fries were the only thing served to us piping hot. Next, our side places with toppings, beans and rice, and tortillas were served about 5 minutes before the actual dish was served. Needless to say, the hot items were cold and the tortillas were rubbery by the time we were actually served the entrée. I was provided a plate with 5 shrimp (tail still on) and probably 5-6 oz or so of pork (slightly fatty in places). My co-diner was served 2, maybe 3, shrimp and about 2-3 oz of chicken (I think there were maybe 4 or 5 small strips). The disproportion between our plates was obvious and pathetic. Then, there was the flavor: oil comes to mind, no seasoning found here at all. Yes, we had oil flavored chicken, pork, and shrimp. Since I was served a good amount of pork, and my co-diner doesnt eat pork, I did graciously pluck a few shrimp from the oil slick to share with him. His refried beans were also the consistency of water, and had no flavor either. When it was clear we werent going to eat any more our server promptly brought the check and handed it directly to my co-diner. So many things wrong here: 1) how was your meal? nope, that question was never asked. 2) would you care for dessert? nope, not asked either. 3) let me assume because you are the man that you will be paying for this meal. Ughhh!!! The only saving grace for this server (aside from the chips and fact that he didnt actually spill anything on me), was he did fill water in our glasses regularly. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back to Mi Casa. I am sure there are some other establishments in the South Shore area with much more authentic Mexican flavor, and likely at a better price. My daughter was clearly content with her chicken fingers and fries, so if you are looking for a place for fried chicken strips and fries, this place might be for you. I guess that can account for the one star rating, since Google forces us to give at least one star.

I was hesitant to try this place due to so many bad reviews. Im glad that I took those bad reviews with a grain of salt. My experience here was everything you would expect to have when you dine out & more...good food, fast courteous service & authentic atmosphere. Our waitress, Monica, was very attentive. She had initially brought out the wrong orders for my wife & I, but without us even bringing it to her attention, brought them back to the kitchen & had our correct orders out within 10 minutes. Granted, we came on a Tuesday at about 4 pm, but my family of 4 had no issues with wait time to be seated or for food to arrive. We even requested our sons meal to be brought out as soon as it was done (kids chicken quesadilla w/fries) & Monica happily obliged. What exceeded my expectations, were the portion sizes (very generous) & the BOGO margaritas & draft beers. It might be a little hard to find, but Ill help...it is on the road behind Applebees & Village Inn. We definitely will be going back & recommend Mi Casa to others. Some advice about these other reviews, go between 4-5 pm & be your own judge.

Caveat Emptor 8:47 placed an order over the phone with the hostess and verified price was $12.99 per order of fajitas so I ordered two = $26.00 +tax 9:09 arrived at Mi Casa sat at bar 9:12 Hostess rang in order at $14.99 per order = $30+tax = $32.00 9:13 informed Carlos the manager that I was told $12.99 over the phone 9:14 Carlos "whats the problem?" Me "I was told $12.99" Carlos "price has changed and we havent updated menu." turned his back and went back to making drinks at the bar. Really??? 9:20 Arrived home to see that I just paid $32 for two orders of steak fajitas and received one orders worth in total 9:25 Last time I ever dine with you again 9:25 Lost customer who just posted this hoping everyone who reads does not dine with Mi Casa out of pure principle Poor and rude customer service, poquito portion. Recommend Sabor A Mexico in Brandon, by far the best Mexican food and customer service around, well worth the extra drive. I feel bad for the hostess who just lost a nice tip, because Carlos doesnt know how to treat a customer.

Visited Mi Casa last night. It was very busy so we went to bar to wait. My son is not 21 so I asked the bartender if we could sit at high top table in bar area, he said yes but then reprimanded the waiter for taking our order. My husband spoke with hostess, and she said it was fine for us to eat there. We ordered dinner. My husband ordered another bottled beer and wine for me as our dinner had not yet arrived. He took a sip of his beer - looked at me, said it tasted like water. I sipped it - yes, dirty water. I poured some from the bottle into an empty wine glass. Water, dirty water. Dinner arrived without the meat for the fajitas. We waited for the server to return with the chicken. My husband told the waiter, showed him the water that was coming out of the bottle. He was disgusted also. The waiter returned after speaking with the bartender, who was laughing. We turned down the offer of a new bottle of beer- paid and left. Drinking dirty dishwater ruined our appetite. Will never return to this establishment.

The food is pretty good here but the service is subpar. I have had "good" service there only one time. The server was prompt and the food came out in a timely manner. The other times (because I do keep coming back) the service has not been good. The servers dont check on you, they dont refill your chips and salsa and trust me you need them refilled because the food takes FOREVER to come out. One time, after waiting over 40 minutes for our food, we just asked the server to cancel our order. She just said "ok". No apology, no acknowledging it had taken a long time, no nothing. Just the check :( Edit: After writing this we decided to order take out from here. What could go wrong? Well, they forgot our quesadillas so we had to wait 20 MINUTES for them to cook them while the rest of our food got cold. I had the review marked as 4/5 stars but I had to bump it down to 3/5. They are about to lose a customer!
