This review is for Mr. Tequila Mexican Restaurant. The one I am reviewing is on 639 10th St E, Palmetto, FL 34221. At first glance it looks like any ordinary strip mall restaurant. When you walk inside you are greeted by a colorful display from the tables and chairs. We were seated promptly and our drink orders were taken. I oped for a pitcher of Mich ultra and the better half opted for the homemade sangria. The appetizer order was taken quick as well. We ordered the queso cheese dip cause lets face it, if you cannot make good queso dip then you are close to failure...LOL. The queso was decent, i just wish it had a little more jalapeno kick to it. Anyway, looking over the menu I noticed a nice but strange dish that I have not see at some of the other "mexican" restaurants. It is called Molcajete. That is the actual name of the bowl that the food is served in, Google it. As you see from the photos, it has a cactus on top. It was very tasty. The food was very hot but that is a good thing. The tortillas were good and look to have been made by hand. I went with this dish as it has just about everything. Steak, Chicken, Shrimp, Potatoes, everything but pork. So after downing about 3 glasses of beer I tried it out. Man let me tell you that was some good stuff! It is in a cheese sauce, and I do love cheese, and the way it mixes make it sooooooo good! The cactus on top does not have any strong flavor so do not be put off about it, be adventurous and take a bite, it wont kill ya. The Jalapeno is a bit warm but the bacon wrap was a good touch as I have never seen that before. It is filled with a cheese that I thought tasted a bit like a goat cheese but I could be wrong. The whole meal comes with your normal beans, rice, lettuce, and the like. Just like everywhere else. I finished the whole bowl and was stuffed just like the pig on the bowl. It is the normal animal on the type of bowl in Mexico as well. The fajitas were, well, fajitas, nothing special about it. However, they did have more flavor than some other places. Now for the downside. The beer, while it started off cold it got room temp fast. Something I did not expect it would do with it being in the "Polar Pitcher". After I finished I took a look at the bottom and saw right away why. It was missing the insert that is supposed to be frozen and put in the bottom. Not sure if that was a mistake or not but a warm beer is not good unless it is made to be warm when drank. The Sangria was also light on the alcohol, as in you couldnt tell it had any. So with that, the food is good, the drinks are meh. Would I give it another shot, yes but I would make sure to let them know about my drinks from the previous experience. Check the photo album for this restaurant for menu and what I had. 4/5 stars

My son and my friend and I use to be weekly customers. However the last 3 times, this is what happened. We went in on a Friday night and our usual waiter was busy with other tables so we got this one guy Ive never seen before. I order the quesadilla on the menu (that is not made with mushrooms...as stated on the menu) (because Im allergic) and when the quesadilla came out it had mushrooms in it. I told him that it was the wrong quesadilla and that I couldnt eat it because I was allergic to the mushrooms and it will make me really sick. So he takes it back in the kitchen...opens it up...and barely takes the mushrooms out of it. Leaves some in there...and then brings it back out. I was livid at that point and Im like I cant eat that, I will get sick...just make me a cheese quesadilla instead. So I didnt make a stink. Ive eaten here dozens upon dozens of times. I figured they had a bad waiter and it was busy so I just let it go. I went back about 3 weeks after that and one of the normal waiters who are there during the day was nice and great and brought the food normal. However when i got my bill it said 14.97...he charged my card 24.97. I brought it up and he took it off. Didnt really think anything about it. Went back a week later and paid with cash this time, same amount...same things ordered (like always)...this time he does the SAME exact thing but shorts me 10 bucks and then disappears into the kitchen and wont come back out. That was the last time I will eat there and the last time I will EVER recommend that restaurant. Forget that place.

Visiting and a family member that recommend this place. Looked at what I thought was their menu online (come to find they are linked to a website/menu that is not theirs - they dont have one) so when I tired to order they didnt have what we wanted. Also called was on hold for 5 min (could hear them talking the entire time) hung up and tried back for over 15 min and finally decided just to drive there. They picked up finally 1 min away where I had to figure out a new order for my family since their menu wasnt what I found online. Ordered less as I didnt want to give them any more business than minimum. Making me suffer not having what we wanted. Passed another Mexican place a block away. Will make sure to try that one next time I am in down. Isnt worth over priced food for bad service. Waited over 25 min from call in and nothing. Asked for manager that informed me the order was not put in (guess a spiteful employee mad I complained of the delay in answering phone) manager actually cared and placed the order. Took me well over an hour to receive food from when we called in initially. How this place stays open surprises me

I like this place. Theres some flaws, but theres also a lot good. Starting with the decor. I love the hand painted chairs. The moment we walked in, the chairs made me smile. We started with chicken fajita nachos. My friend loved them, while I just found them weird. One friend ordered the steak fajitas. This was a large entree and was cooked just right. My other friend and I ordered an enchilada combination plate. It has a beef, cheese, bean and chicken enchilada. All were good. The beef melted in the mouth and had the texture of a slow cooked pot roast. A side order of beans and rice was enough for both of us. The frozen margaritas were fantastic; they sure dont skimp on the tequila, and we were pretty cheerful by the end of the meal. We had a very sweet server. While his English was mostly non-existent, he went out of his way to ensure we had a great time.

If your not patient and do not drink the 2 dollar margarita , you will notice the poor service . they sometimes get you order messed up too . with that said . There great! the margarita is fantastic . and if you order the specials Monday thru Thursday you will get your food in a timely manor . The food is still a little tame for real Mexican food , but down here they all are easy on the stomach for the older folk . but it is still good ... you can heat the food up with some of there salsa witch is good and spicy . but maybe a little hotter option would be nice.
