Eight of us from Philadelphia arrived at 1:30pm and the sign on the door said lunch was until 2pm. We were welcomed like long lost friends. The food was superb! The sangria was the best we had ever tasted. And the mole sauce on the enchiladas was incredible! The decor is delightful. In spite of the time frame, we did not feel at all rushed. I had read the reviews prior to coming and it sounded great, but you wonder if places are really as good as other people had written. Trust me, La Cocina is as good as everyone has written! I cant say enough good things about this restaurant and wish they werent so far away as we would make this a weekly event! Judy D. Philadelphia, PA

This place is horrible just keep driving . Dont waste your time I read reviews from people and thought it would be an awesome experience . Now before elaborate on my experience I travel a lot and have many different taste in Mexican. My best friend is even Mexican and have also had home cooked foods . Making long story short the portions were very small and the meats were cut thin but Im ok with that . It was the taste in quality it sucked . I ordered the Maloconte which is Beef, Pork and chicken and let me tell it is hard to get 3 meats to taste the same but they mastered it . Im begging you keep driving .....

We walked in without one on a Friday night and had to wait 1/2 an hour, but were told it was worth it by some other customers just leaving the place. We did have to wait a little bit longer after we got our table but our server explained that the kitchen was a little backed up from some parties, and gave us an extra basket of chips and salsa to help make up for it. And our meals were worth the wait! Tasty! Oh, and the decor is super charming, with murals on the walls and ceilings. The great atmosphere is a pleasant surprise considering the outside doesnt look like much.

Wow !!!! Weve been around here several times in the last 6 months ,bought a condo locally. This is the very first/only Mexican cuisine we just totally loved. Went here for lunch a few days ago.....OMG.....what an obscure/wonderful find. We looked for this after eating a few times at the sister spot in St Augustine Beach. This place is equal in a totally different way. Casually delicious, amazing venue. IF you like authentic Mexican food for a reasonable price with happy staff....this is IT !

From the moment you walk in the door until you leave it is enjoyable. The staff are very friendly. They bring very good chips and salsa to each table. The food is fresh, served very hot and delicious. The staff make you feel welcome. They check to make sure your food is good, they refill your glass as soon as needed and you never have to sit and wait for them to check on you or bring the check. I have never had a bad meal here and have never had bad service!

True, authentic mexican cuisine! It doesnt get any better than this. The restaurant is owned by a mexican family and the food is the best homemade mexican I have ever had. I consider myself a connoisseur and cant stand commercialized american versions of mexican food. Truly the best and the family staff is very accommodating. My favorite, the tamale appetizer with pork carnitas, comes with homemade tortillas. Cant go wrong with this!!!!!

I really enjoyed this place. Very homey (in a good way) and intimate setting. The food is great too. Lots of splashes of lime in a lot of the dishes which was a nice touch. I had the chile relleno and I thought it was good. I wouldnt write home about it though. Kinda squishy and average flavor. I will talk up the salsa and guacamole. Those were awesome! I couldnt get enough of that! One really cool thing they do is serve fajitas on FIRE!

this restaurant is the best! the food is fantastic, the staff is great. the place is very clean and the presentation of the food is fabulous! weve tried other things on the menu but our favorite dish still remains to be the corona fajitas. they bring out your sides and then they bring out the sizzling pan with your meat, onions and peppers and set it on fire for a little show before you dig into the delicious platter. You have got to try it!

This is a great place if you love authentic Mexican dishes. The tamales are excellent and the chips and salsa taste home made. I had a burrito dish that came with black beans and yellow rice. Everything was tasty and the waiter we had was super. On the way out I was able to thank the the kitchen staff for a great meal. The ambiance is like someones house with each room fitted for great seating. There are also seats outside.

I consider myself very picky when it comes to good Mexican food and La Cocina is the best that Ive had in a long time. The servers are very kind and accommodating. My husband and I are both vegetarians and asked for a couple of modifications on our order. They were pleased to help and the food was WONDERFUL! The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. We plan to go back as soon as possible!

Best mexican food in town. Everytime we come to St Augustine we must visit La Cocina. The owner Andres and the staff always provide great service and make my family feel like home. The food is amazing. My wife always get a beef tamal for appetizer and pretty much every plate on the menu is delicious. Not to mention the red and green salsas.

Excellent take-out food service and presentation. I really enjoyed the Beef stuffed chimichangas with a delightful tres leche cake. Everything was put together so neatly and sauces were organized into tubs. The decoration on the tres leche was over the top and made my day. You have wonderful food standards and excellent staff!!

Treated me like a gringo. Wouldnt let me sit where I wanted. Was waiting on my food another couple came in after us ordered their food and got their food before me. Was walking out the door when they brought my food to the table which was small .Ate it in two minutes and got the hell out of there. Yes it sucks

I do not get the hype at all. We came here with high expectations after being told how good this place is by locals. The queso was delicious, but everything else (including the salsa) was so bland with no spices or even salt for that matter and tasted like leftovers. Never again.
