When Shin debuted, it was one of the very few stark urban minimalist restaurants in town. Almost cold as some people felt. The menu and presentation was very high end with astronomical price tags and itsy bitsy portion sizes. Yes I whipped out my Motorola cellphone just to check the size of the Chilean Seabass as the reviewer mentioned. The service was stand offish and absent. It was as if a really hot shot restaurant landed from a different planet and demanded Orlando’s attention. Not so fast. Granted, taste was on point. But this is Orlando not New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, or Miami nor is the location of any high end hotel chain. While other more metropolitan cities are years ahead of us Shin had a conundrum to face. What to do? With all of its flashy starkness, it was slammed by the local newspaper and empty most of the time. Check out the full review on my blog at travelerfoodie dot com.

Hands down the best sushi in Orlando. Ive tried dozens of sushi places from lake Mary to disney. Some are very good but none of them are as good as shin. The sushi is fresh flavorful and delicious. They have great classic roles and great new ones I have never seen anywhere else. The presentation is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere is perfect. You could go in casual or dressed to kill. Its not trendy where you feel uncomfortable to be there in jeans and a t shirt. Def the best kept secret. Whenever I have friends and family that come to visit, shin is a must to visit to show off Orlandos best restaurants. Go there, you will not be disappointed!

Japanese owned/operated for the most part, which is not the standard in Orlando. Very clean inside w/ nice atmosphere. Overall they are better than the average sushi restaurant, and thus Ive rated them as such. I am not crazy for Americanized specialty rolls, so I wont comment on them, but the nigiri & sashimi sushi here is fresh. The rice could use a little bit more vinegar. I have to agree w/ some of the reviews of the inconsistency of some of their dishes, it may depend on the chef. Though overall the sushi has been fresh IMHO - Ive eaten there a handful of times over the last two years.

We were very impressed the first few times we went to Shin, then one Saturday we went there, the Miso soup tasted spoiled - it was really gross. We wanted to give it the benefit of doubt and went there again the following Friday. It was very crowded and the starter salad which is part of the Bento box had a lot of yellowish looking leaves in it. It seems when they are busy, the quality control is really not there. They also automatically added 18% tip to out bill (party of 2), which was not stated on their menu. I will not go back to Shin and will not recommend it to anybody.

This restaurant is truly Japanese owned/operated. Its a little pricey, but its high quality and no other 寿司 bar in town even compares. I used to eat at the other usual suspects just because its all you could get in this town. Now whenever I want real sushi, I tell my wife "were going to Shins (period)" My favorite sushi bar in the world is 寿司旭 in Tokyo (東京部北区上十条3-4-10). But this place is a very close second, since its just as good and also has all the modern American-style specialties. If Scott Joseph hasnt written a review yet, he better get on it!

Essentially Shin is a simple sushi bar. Not much design or decoration can be found here but the food more than makes up for it. The rolls may not be very large but the quality of the fish and rolls is what makes this place a must visit. I am not sure what the dinner crowd looks like but this place is usually packed during lunch. I recommend their salmon bento box. Its a little pricey for lunch $14 but is well worth it for the amount of food that you get.

Still one of the best sushi restaurants in all ofFlorida. The owner is Japanese and one of the most experience sushi experts, if not the most experience sushi chef in Florida. No sugars in the sauces for "American" tastes. No MSG. In fact, only high quality ingredients and fish. It sounds simple but if you really no sushi then you know how rare it is to find the right place. Look no more!

I have eaten here about four times. The food has been good every time. I reccomend the spicy triple tuna rolls. The service was excellent three times. One time they were really busy and the watress was a little slow and rude. Also, the tap water tastes like chemicals and can ruin the whole meal. So, order a canned or bottled beverage. The prices are pretty good too.

We have a 30 person birthday party at Shin sushi. They were incredibly accommodating, and everyone had a wonderful time. All 30 people left the restaurant agreeing that this is the best sushi in Orlando! The food presentation is amazing and the fish is flown in daily from all over the world. Added bonus, the prices are reasonable!

Shin is run by actual Japanese people who know what Sushi is supposed to be, yet have the business sense to offer the kind of sushi Americans go for as well. It has the best of both in my opinion and Ive lived in both countries long enough to feel confident in my judgement. Best sushi in Orlando (that Ive had so far).

This is by far the best Sushi in Orlando. We love Sushi and live 5 min away from other Sushi restaurants (that we sometimes settle for). Whenever we want GREAT sushi we go to Shin. Restaurant itself is very small. I would call ahead if you go there. Staff doesnt smile enough but food compensate for that..

Excellent sushi, generous portions and a number of inventive choices. In terms of ambiance, it has tasteful, modern furnishings but is sparcely decorated and too bright resulting in an atmosphere that is not very warm and noise that echos. Service was inconsistent but did not affect the experience much.

Love this place the food is great and the prices are perfect! But tonight was not such a good experience the waitress with the shaved sides was not very good. She seemed bothered any time you asked her for a refill and was not very attentive. Her manner was poor at best and not very friendly.

Sushi is everything to me and the quality of food here is above all other. Located in downtown Orlando area, this place is always full of bustling people. Many options to choose from and a beautiful ambiance. Will most certainly be back whenever in the area, and would recommend to everyone.

Best sushi in Orlando. Shari is good and Amura is nice, but the best, consistently fresh and delicious sushi is at Shin. Ken keeps the place up to his high standards, and everyone is always friendly. If youre going there for lunch, be there by noon to avoid the rush.

This place has excellent sushi, good prices compared to quality, and friendly service. The also have a nice industrial-esqe decor, minimal and romantic good for a first date, or a stop off for a good bite to eat before hitting the clubs.

Great sushi. Coming from California it has been hard to find a place that reminds me of home. Shin does exactly that. They use quality fish with a creative selection of rolls. The staff is always friendly and able to meet our needs.
