I brought my family here for the first time to celebrate my daughters 8th birthday and it was an awful experience all around. They have the most absurd free birthday meal policy. You must eat there the actual day of your birthday AND must also present a birth certificate, drivers license, state ID, or passport in order to qualify! Not kidding. I explained to the waitress that it was our first time ever eating there and that I dont just carry around my childs birth certificate. She still didnt care and refused to give a discount. I let it go and moved on. I spoke to the manager and asked for a surprise dessert to be delivered to my daughter and for them to sing Happy Birthday. No more than five minutes after I sat down, the waitress took our drink orders, then verbally reiterated what her manager told her to do regarding my daughters surprise dessert in front of the whole table! After ordering a beer, I kept smelling perfume. I realized that the neck of the bottle smelled like it was doused in it. I then realized that all of the items the waitress touched smelled this way. Unsanitary is the word Im searching for. I would have given one star, but I worked out a deal to return with my daughters birth certificate at a later date and was reimbursed for her meal. Stay away from here. The food was sub-par, the conditions were unsanitary, and the staff was complacent. Youve been warned.

Large group with 3 families and two tables to celebrate our sons birthday, kids had a great chef, ours was ok, but no problem there, and service was fine. However, what happened afterwards was appalling, the hostess accused our 12 yr old son of urinating on the bushes in the lobby. My wife asked the hostess if she was 100% sure, she said she was, yet there was no evidence that he had done that, and this is not something he would do. When we ask our son about it, he was shocked and was adamant that he did not do that. It upset my wife and my son (who likes to be accused of something you didnt do, especially something like that). I pulled the hostess aside and confronted her about the accusation, she immediately said she doesnt want to cause a "ruckus", a little late for that. I asked if she would appreciate being accused of something like that? Something wrong with that girl. We most definitely will not return.

Was at Kanki with a large birthday party during a week night. Although our entire group was present, still had to wait for a hibachi table even after making reservations. The hibachi chef was funny and interesting at first but slowly became less exciting, as he the night progressed. He was pretty good with his aim flipping pieces of egg into those that volunteered to catch it with their mouth. He also had to cook various meats and proteins in batches, thus some in our party were waiting significantly longer than others for their meal. Overall, service from our waitress was good, even with a large group, minus a slight mixup in the checks. Prices were reasonable or to be expected for a Japanese steak house. My teriyaki steak was just average.

**Edit: bad experience, 2 chefs available, about 7 hibachi table waiting, no one from the staff or ownership came to apologize or make us aware. Then another guest at my same table goes and says something to the staff, chef shows up but was not feeling it, just cooked all the food at the same time and left. I understand things happen, but make your customers aware.** Food is not what it used to be, strict rules for free birthday meal and for sitting at a hibachi table. Chefs are entertaining even though they perform the same show every time.

Watch the automatic tips they add to your bill for larger groups, they will add 17% tip in a spot that states its the pre-tip amount, when actually they have already added the tip. Then when you complain they become aggressive and refuse to help you when you end up giving an almost 40% tip because of their misleading receipt. An employee named Erin was completely inept. The chef was nice and the food was fine, but I will not be coming back due to lack of customer service.

I love their food, however their service is pretty rough. I ordered take out and when I picked up my order I asked for shrimp sauce. She brings me two tiny containers so I ask for more and offer to pay and she huffs and puffs and yells at a BUSY waitress to grab it for her when all she was doing was standing behind the bar. And Im pretty sure she was an owner.

place has gone down hill since the kids took over was great food . bust last visit was served raw foul smelling fish and shrimp. when brought to ther attention the young female owner was snobby and said she would eat that. and we would have to pay. I told her since we did not eat it we dont have to pay for it.

Food ok. Hibachi chef very predictable, nothing special. Same routine than everywhere else. Service is borderline ok but what I hated the most was we made a reservation and still have to wait half an hour for a table. Dont ask for reservations if you cant honor the time given!!!

I will never come back to this poor excuses for a Japanese restraint ever again. Poor service, low quality ingredients, long wait for below average tasting food. Also they use margarine instead of real butter because they are cheap. Buyer beware. TERRIBLE.

The food and service was extremely disappointing and lackluster. My family has recently moved to the area and were excited to find a close Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately this one failed to impress in any way. It was high priced food for what you got.

Tasteless sushi and horrible service!!! brought our food out 10 minutes after the other party we were dining with and would not compensate us with anything after complaining to two different managers. Never going back even if they were giving food away!!

Made a reservation for 5:30 and was not even greeted for 20 mins and left standing for 1 hour before finally being seated. No manager or staff to help or even acknowledge us. Very disappointed. You dont pay $20+ a plate for this kind of service.

A Japanese restaurant with a twist. The beating of a drum does not happen at a Japanese restaurant in Japan but it does here. Sushi was great but not like in Japan. Enjoyed a lovely evening with a very special woman for dinner here.

Deliciousness. PS: I just realized that is actually a word. No red squiggles (OMG thats a word too?!) underneath either one! Didnt know Reviewing was a solid grammar class. I learned more here, Mrs. Igganbotham.

Our hibachi chef had a great attitude and made it a lot of fun. The food was good and you for sure wont leave hungry because its very generous. Fun thing to do with family.

Terrible customer service. Had to send back the fried crab because it tagged awful and they were reluctant to take it back. Word to the wise: the customer is always right.

Waited for 30 minutes to be seated and a hour for the cook on Wednesday. Food was not even that good. Romeo (the cook) was the only pleasant thing about this place.
