Kobe is a well-known hibachi chain that offers a bit of a show with your meal. Weve visited this location a few times and its been consistently good. It is, however, loud, and communication is difficult for someone with hearing problems. This is a little on the expensive side--$100 for 4 adults is probably the average. Parking is not difficult, and the bank next door allows Kobe patrons to park there after 5 pm. There is not much handicapped parking available in either lot. With a long extra walk around via the driveways (a few stairs lead from the bank lot to Kobes lot), the bank lot can be used by chairs. The restaurant itself is handicap-friendly, although the hibachi seating is pretty tall so wheelchair-bound patrons will miss most of the show on the grill. On the negative side, mgt. seems to have forgotten about cleaning the paper lanterns and neat accent lighting. Wait times are not unreasonable for this area, but a reservation does not guarantee you will get right in. That is understandable because of the nature of the experience, and we wait only ~15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The dining experience is of a casual pace once seated, so dont go here for a quick meal. The bar area offers food and drink that might be okay for a quick visit, but I have no experience with the front of the house. Due to the number of people conversing and the nature of a hibachi place, the ambient noise level is pretty high. On the positive side, the teppanyaki chefs are entertaining and cook well. Food allergies are noted and dealt with carefully. The food is consistently excellent and portioned generously, and the staff are careful and accurate with food and drink orders. The Japanese themes are pleasant, without being disorienting to people with no experience of Far East architecture. The koi pond is a nice way to spend your wait time, with food available for the fish (.$25) and comfortable seating all around the front room. There is also outside seating in front and a bar area with barside and table seating. I dont know the a la carte menu choices, so I cant comment. Several TVs and a large drink menu can also help while away your wait. I definitely recommend Kobe for a special occasion, especially a birthday, with a significant discount for the lucky person! Enjoy an excellent teppanyaki meal with a bit of showmanship in a nice atmosphere, despite the rather loud ambiance.

My family and I visited the new location in Longwood and were immediately disappointed by the extremely long wait. We were hoping to be seated at a booth, however, I guess they are now corralling everyone around cook tables to save money on wait staff, etc. We waited quite sometime for our orders to be taken and then waited again quite some time for the cook to show up. Our cook lacked personality, coupled with the fact that he burned the food. The cook burned the vegetables and then proceeded to do a terrible job of cleaning the cooking surface leaving burnt residue to carry over onto everything he prepared. I ordered shrimp and scallops and was given such a small portion of overcooked shrimp which I guess I wasn’t suppose to notice how small the portion was as it was supplemented with burned mushroom pieces which I didn’t order. The scallops were undercooked which was followed up with rice that was still cold after the poor cooking job on the cook top which now had a collection of burnt food on it. I will not be visiting this establishment again and hope they get their act together.

First rate place for special occasions. Hibachi, for those that dont know, its a Japanese steakhouse in which they cook the food on a grill in front of you- similar to a Benihanas. There is a front, outside patio area, and also a bar. When you enter, the ambiance is dark, and cool. There is also a fairly good sized koi pond which your little ones (or you) can feed them pellets for a quarter. They are fat fish. We were fortunate enough to get the executive chef, Fuji to cook for us. He was astounding, energetic, and entertaining- flipping food, and accommodating with the precision of someone whos been doing it for years. Food was superb and seasoned to perfection. 6 course meals range from $22-30something, 8 course meals are a bit pricier. If there is a special celebration going on, be wary that the staff will show up with a mini taiko (Japanese drum) and bang off- my mother stated that she was getting palpatations from the thuds. All in all, an exceptional place for feasts and jubilation.

Amazing! We decided to try the Longwood location this time since its a bit closer and the Altamonte location was getting a bit... how do you say...blah! - felt like they were just going through the motions... Anyways, we ALWAYS eat at the Altamonte location and we get the same guy, same jokes and the staff,well... they all seem tired..LOL. We stopped at the Longwood location (on a Thursday) and this Kobe kicked Altamontes Kobes A$$! The food was delicious, the staff was incredible and I mean INCREDIBLE, attentive, helpful, caring and interactive and the manager.. he was amazingly sweet! Our cook DOM, well... he was THE BEST - hilarious, skilled, VERY interactive, he really made it an EXPERIENCE! This trip was GREAT, every staff member made it fun again, reminded me of my first trip to Kobe (many years ago)..where I got hooked! Thank you Longwood Kobe! We will only being going to your location from now on!

I have been to Kobe restaurants all over central Florida and can say that this one by FAR has the worst service. They are closest to my house but Id rather drive to another location than deal with their employees. Im not sure if its incompetence or just bad attitudes but theyre always understaffed and running behind. On one occasion we were seated an hour and 15 minutes after our reservation time and on another occasion we were told that the waiters were running behind and they didnt speak to us until 30 minutes after we were seated. Ive never heard of a wait staff being behind especially when theyre not even serving most of the food. The food itself is below par compared to other area locations and not worth dealing with their snobby and incompetent staff.
