The Canvas menu takes inspiration from many places. Influences of Latin, Caribbean, New Orleanian and Cuban (a la a nice sandwich of marinated pork belly and house-cured ham) appear, and the items swing from super casual to moderately upscale. An interesting variation on standard Southern fare, the smoked fish dip is served warm, mixed with spiced cream cheese and a crisp house-made Parmesan-coated flatbread cracker. Which shouldn’t be confused with the separate flatbread offerings, where the base is a thicker, slightly chewier dough somewhere between cracker and pizza and fired in a wood-burning oven. Of note is the shrimp and chorizo, slathered in a parsley and cilantro chimichurri sauce and Mexican cotija cheese. The “Margarita” flatbread departs from the traditional Margherita pizza recipe to include rich roasted tomato confit, shaved Northern Italian Grana Padano cheese and (note to those with nut allergies) almond-based pesto. Mofongo, a Puerto Rican mash of green plantains, is another rarity found here. I liked the shrimp mofongo entrée although it was a bit small for the price. Pan-fried shrimp (Canvas does shrimp very well) are served in a crispy plantain shell with a subtle citrus broth and roasted dried tomatoes. Excellent shrimp and good plantains, very missable tomatoes. Better all around is a great take on mussels, meaty shellfish served in a blend of tart tomatillo and spicy chili.

Ho-ly cow this place is overrated. Party of 9, Sunday Brunch, with a reservation. It was not the brunch we had anticipated. The reservation was for 1pm, and food didnt start to arrive until 2:20pm (not all served at once either). I guess 9 people was too much. Why do they think they can charge $12 for 3 pancakes (See pic)? There is construction on one side and cow patties on the other. This is not Park Ave. or restaurant row! $12 for a 12oz beer was a bit high. $12 for a vanilla bourbon (which truly was nice and tasty), but to say it was a full 3oz is probably exaggerating. They have a kids menu (with standard unimaginative options of Mac&Cheese, Etc.), but oddly, no breakfast items on it. During BRUNCH. Okay, lets try a workaround...oops, we are unable to take a-la-carte (e.g., kids/single pancake) orders. Sheesh. The $10 bloody Mary was nicely garnished (celery, salted rim, and lime), but unfortunately, it was paired with a Benedict which was undercooked (runny egg whites). If Im going to spend $68 on a breakfast, I dont want to be disappointed. No, we wont be back.

Sunday about 11. First the food - the kitchen staff knows how to prepare good food. My wife had the breakfast sandwich which is very good. I had the Canvas Breafast which consists of three eggs, English muffin, and bacon. All properly prepared but had been sitting on the warming tray for a while. Now the not so good - no one else here has a clue. Menus were not readily available at the counter, so the chalk board menu names mean nothing to new customers. The salt and pepper were discovered near the coffee service after the food was delivered to the table. No butter, jam or jelly was offered with the English muffin. Upon request, a nice serving of peach/pepper preserve was brought to the table. However, there was no choice. Apparently it was either the spicy Jam or nothing. One should not have to hunt down a server and beg for these items. Whoever said the service was excellent must be an owner or a relitive or have very low expectations of service. Will I return - not likely

Beautifully done decor, both elegant and comfortable. I love an amazing meal, but feel peculiar in fancy surroundings, and this met me half way. The food was spectacular. My wife had the scallops, which was not filling but packed with flavor and paired with the best asparagus I have ever had, which the waiter explained is part of an all night slow cooking process they use to cook it evenly, then char slightly on the outsides. I ordered one of their newer menu items, the Shrimp and Grits, which was by far the best I have tried anywhere, with the perfect amount of spice. The beer list is a little lacking but was able to find some good local offerings. Our server Jacob was courteous, knowledgeable, always ready with a recommendation and very accommodating. We really could not have asked for more. Oh, and try the yucca fries! My wife is Brazilian, where they eat yucca frequently and these were still the best I have tried here in the states or even in Brazil.

It started as a pleasant experience for me and my family, but it quickly went south after having to deal with "Kyle", our server. The food was decent and we were really enjoying the atmosphere, but Kyles rudeness and laziness turned this 5 start experience into a 3. We ordered waters for the family, and my husband I were glancing over the wine menu (which was honestly quite expensive) and decided to pass. He urged us to keep looking and we passed again, and he actually rolled his eyes! My husband asked him f that wasnt good enough and he just walked away! We ordered the calamari (which was delicious) and a few other entrees, but the rest of the time we were there he was scarcely around and when he was, he was very curt, and would disappearing for another half hour. Our drinks were rarely re-filled and we felt a subtle hostility the rest of the night (who knows why). Overall, very disappointing.

What a disappointment! Coming from out of town my brother made reservations for brunch, to be told at the door we would have to wait 15min because of a private event and 1 server! An hour later still not seated and manager was unapologetic that we had to wait due to their lack of preparation. Did not even offer to give us something to eat in the meantime coffee, tea, muffins, anything! Instead said "if we are that hungry we should go somewhere else"! This is absurd! My brother said "this place has bad service but food was great" , but I would have not believed him until I experienced it myself! Very bad customer service, very bad way to operating any business!

Very nice place with a beautiful lake view. The staff is pretty friendly, but the food is hit or miss. Their better dishes (ie. Shrimp Mofongo from their dinner menu, and the Lemon Curd Pancakes from their brunch menu) are really awesome, but when they miss on a dish they miss BIG! I ordered a Cuban Sandwich for $13 and ended up with a giant piece of bread, and literally 2 thin slices of Canadian Bacon, and 4 tiny pieces of Pork Belly, I had to order 2 Arnold Palmers just to wash down all that bread...and I only ate half. I really like the place, just wish their food was more consistent.

Good food and a really great interior. There are seats by the water that will give you a great experience while visiting this new, upscale restaurant. You can see the some of the chefs and cooks preparing food, which adds to the intimate ambiance. There are not official kids menus, almost as if they want to deter you from bringing them. We ordered the Flatbread pizza and it was so crispy, my children couldnt bite through it. I was not impressed with the selection for kids our last 2 visits. Well have to keep this place in mind for date nights instead.

Walking through the doors at Canvas I was greeted with very inviting atmosphere. Easy to navigate through with warm smiley staff. I had an excellent salad followed by fish, and an amazing chocolate bread pudding dessert. The food was very good and looked better then the pictures while tasting even better than it looked. Very well prepared reasonably priced. I had a outstanding experience thank you guys delivering.
