This is a review for just the restaurant. Ive been here before several times and never reviewed, but I feel like Ive been enough times now to give an accurate appraisal. Ive had good experiences and bad, but the whole thing has averaged out to about three stars. Pros: Quirky. There are tanks with little live gators in them. The back room has a lot of windows and a great laid-back kid-friendly atmosphere. Good fries. Cons: Cleanness is not a priority. The wait staff are hit and miss. Food: The food itself is pretty good. About on par with a TGI Fridays. You can order gator and frog legs, mostly for the novelty value. I have tried both and havent felt the urge to have again, but theyre fine. Ive never had a disgusting meal here. But Ive never had a great one either. I will say that I like the fries, which are nicely seasoned and battered. Of note: on one occasion, the soda had a foul aftertaste. Value: Prices vary from fairly priced to verging on overpriced. EG: Burgers are around nine or ten dollars depending on toppings. This is on par with most restaurants in the TGI Fridays quality range. But the catfish and shrimp platter is about 16 and the piece of catfish could literally be eaten in a single bite and the four or five little fried shrimp look sad all lined up there in a row like theyre trying to spread them out. You get one side and a salad. Service: Ive had times when the server was quick and polite. Other servers seem harassed and/or are inattentive. It would be nice if the tables were wiped clean before you sat down. This has been a reoccurring problem. Atmosphere: This is a quirky, local, back-woodsy (in a kind of touristy way) little place with character where you may or may not have a good experience. Kids especially will enjoy the gator tanks and the jungle theme. A group of friends getting together to relax and drink and eat may appreciate the very laid-back attitude. Its got the vibe of a beach-side restaurant where you pay for the location and the feeling of pretending to be a beach-bum local for a day, and you overlook everything else, except that its near a lake instead of a beach. Summary: All in all it can be a not-unpleasant change of pace, but if you visit often you will notice the inconsistency and the novelty will start to wear off. Note: there are some other activities and bar areas on the premises that might make a trip to the restaurant more worth-while because of the convenience-factor. I am rating the restaurant alone.

I just started coming here because its a Pokemon GO Hotspot. Literally only reason I started. Well tonight I received very poor customer service from the female bartender, in reference to being a pokemon go player. She referred to us as "crazy" and was annoyed that she had to know more then she wanted about the game because there is a pokemon gym at there location. Ive gone the last 4 nights in a row there each time brining 2-6 people, and being curtious we always buy beverages, generally alcoholic and play for a while. After tonight however I felt very unwelcomed there and will just take my pokemon go adventures to other local establishments that welcome pokemon go players and are smart enough to use this current fad to increase there sales respectively while they can. This place just lost a lot of potential revenue as I plan on telling all my pokemon go friends that we are not welcome there.

Honestly... Ive never felt more welcome or at home at a bar... I had a great time and i hooe to go back next week... Met the Mayor... Ed... who was awesome... And they took me out on a boat ride.... not having any idea who I was... offered me a beer and really just genuinely made me feel as if Id been going for years... The bartenders are great... attractive without being snotty about it... very attentive and genuinely just cool ass people to talk to... So... check it out... good energy, good location good view... You can literally fish for gators with hot dog bait... Capt. Rob will take you out to the middle of the lake to watch the sunset... Anyway... yeah... go there... and if you dont have a good time... Its most likely YOU and you need to go home and meditate on your life journey and ask your inner self when you became such a dork...

This place is wonderfully tucked away , perfectly hidden from the rest of civilization. Living in Orlando, its hard to find isolated places such as this one to enjoy respite from the rush and hustle of Central Florida. That said, this restaurant provides excellent meals at decent prices. Service is fast and friendly. And the atmosphere is as relaxed as the location, although I have noticed that more people are migrating out here on weekends especially. Call before to make sure its not too crowded. If it is, relax at the bar before hand and escape to the little peninsula that harbors the air boats. I noticed not many venture there. Great place to view a sunset on the lake.

I like to ride to the Black Hammock on the weekends, the kiddos will like looking at the gators. The staff in all areas of the fish camp are really great, and the food is good to great depending what you order. Id say in my opinion a little over priced, but all in all a good dining experience, and I like bar food a lot, oh heads up bring your own plastic ware if your dining at the tiki bar area of the camp. or youll be dining with you fingers. Plenty of motorcycle parking there, so take a ride or drive and visit Black Hammock Fish Camp. Ive not yet had a bad experience..

Amazing relaxed-atmosphere restaurant and bar tucked away off of Willow Cove on Lake Jesup. Moist and tender gator bites, fried and blackened were my fave of the sampler we ordered. Tons of other options whether seafood, po boys, or burgers. Great drink menu and happy hour specials. It sits next to a parrot enclosure and gift shop that you can look through as you wait for your airboat ride. You can also buy a package deal for the airboat and receive a $10 credit towards your meal at Black Hammock. And the prices are already economical! Will definitely be going back.

The only reason I give three stars is that this place is beautiful; definitely a slice of "real Florida." However, this is my second time here and this time the service was horrible and they were not busy. I feel my lack of service is due to informing a family it was against the law to throw rocks at gators. I was very matter of fact, but the waitress felt the need to apologize for me. Should have been her job in the first place. Since then, no service. A few beers and gone but definitely beautiful here.

Humm, what to say. Im sure the food was good. But my wife has a dairy allergy. ALLERGY! She stops breathing if she eats MILK, BUTTER, CHEESE. DAIRY!!!!!!!!!. I called this place ahead of time and asked if she was going to be able to eat their food. We specifically told the waitress the wife was allergic to dairy. We asked if the Sweet Potato Fritters had dairy in them and was told no. Yet one bite and the wife had to use her $50.00 Epi Pen.
