My friends and I were visiting for a bachelorette party this past weekend. We went into this restaurant on Friday and the service was great. However, we went into the restaurant on Saturday and we basically were racially profiled by the manager and a waitress on duty. We sat at the bar to order some sushi to go, and had been sitting there for about 2 to 3 minutes. There were 7 os uf, but only 3 of us at the bar getting ready to order and the others had went to the restrooms. All the customers, who were white, were staring at us. The manager on duty comes over to us and we thought he was asking if we saw a coverup, but he said we need a coverup. Well, I had on a full coverup and so did my other friend and the girl he was speaking with tops looked like a tub top. He basically asked us to leave because we had on our swimsuits with coverups. He didnt even make eye contact us, but asked that we not sit at the bar with our swimsuits. He didnt say, you can sit in a booth or anything, he basically just wanted us gone. We were the only black people in the restaurant at the time. The server that we had the day before sat us at the bar, so what was the issue. We assume that someone complained about us being in there. It was extremely unprofessional. I pointed out to him that a young white lady was sitting right beside us at the bar who didnt have on any clothes and his response was I will mention it to her, but he didnt. The waitress that was being rude said, it is a bodysuit, but it was a bodysuit that looked like a swimsuit. It didnt really have a back which was what my friends top looked like. I walked back in the restaurant because of how I was feeling to get the General Managers name, and the young white lady was still sitting at the bar, but the black girls were not. I took a picture of what she had on. We are in 2017 and were racially profiled for being black. It was a terrible experience and I have not ever felt so disgraced in my life. If you are black, you may want to think twice about visiting this restaurant.

Food is great! I came during happy hour without knowing which was a plus! (5pm to 7pm) Heads up: Service sucks! My service experience with Andrea was bad. Greeted by a "lovely" hostess that was very vague, and no eye contact as we requested for a booth. Needless to say today was the first day I ever been to Miami as I always wanted to come here, and this was the first restaurant I chose! I regret that terribly and wish I chose other competing Japanese restaurants in Miami. Our waitress Andrea was absolutely terrible! Lack of eye contact as she answered my questions, and didnt listen to me as I told her some special requests to my order but nodded in response while looking elsewhere. I had to repeat to her again when the food came out and she acted as if it was her first time hearing it. Look, I understand its busy during happy hour times, but my boyfriend and I noticed Andrea was attentive and attractive to other customers in front of me and behind me that she was serving. Those customers looked more appealing than my attire. (I just got back from Everglades). I gave her a little note to not judge people from their outfits, didnt know there was a rule to how to dress as I work at a Japanese restaurant as well: I was really happy when I arrived in Miami, in awe of the city, happy that I am on vacation away from work and home. Im upset I chose here.

Ive been to Doraku several times over many years of being a resident and non-resident of Miami Beach. The sushi here is always solid, prices are good, and the location on Lincoln road cant be beat. If you want a light late night snack before hitting the bars this is a good choice. Its always busy, but the wait is never too long. They have a good selection of Saki and bottled and draft beer. On my last visit we ended up getting a couple bottles of great saki (dry and very tasty, one of my favorites). We had a few beers, and split several rolls and nigiri. Being somewhat alergic to shellfish I couldnt have very many rolls and ended up ordering some salmon nigiri and spicy tuna rolls. The nigiri was very good and fresh, they serve Scottish Salmon here. The spice tuna was okay, nothing to really rave about. The rolls I tasted were interesting, and the other folks we were with loved them, so overall it was a hit, but there is nothing really amazing about Doraku aside from it being consistent, well priced, and good sushi.

Awful service - just rude. We settled the check by card and were about to leave a cash tip (which the waiter was seeming my too impatient to wait for). He left to come back to remind us that the tip wasnt included in the total. Thanks for that, you just lost an extra couple of percent. This was the tip of the iceberg. We should have known to go elsewhere when we had to seat ourselves when we arrived as the front of house was too busy on the phone to even acknowledge us. This was a Tuesday lunchtime. There were plenty of other staff. As for the food. We the ceviche and the salmon carpaccio were great. The sushi rolls would have been much better had the rice been fresh and the ahi poke was pretty chewy. As a footnote, its $12.95 for a 16Oz of beer.

I have dreams about the sushi at Doraku. It was so satisfying and memorable, we came back for more just a few days later while on vacation in Miami. Things I loved about Doraku. - Thick, extremely fresh pieces of delicious fish over slightly sweet and perfectly stuck together sushi rice - Your spicy crunchy salmon roll doesnt come with tempura flakes but rather crunch balls. I love the flavor and texture this change makes. - The brownie tempura is OFF THE CHAIN and comes a la mode. Drool. Things I dont like - the seats at regular tables are awkward, low and dont support your back. - Service here is hit or miss. The female waitresses tend to be more standoffish then the men. - Its a bit of a walk from Collins Ave but totally worth it.

let me just cut to the chase . this is bangin pan asian food and happy hour is a friggin steal. must haves: vegetarian : eggplant miso (happy hour) sweet & spicy edamame brussels sprouts (happy hour) crudo: salmon carpaccio (happy hour) tuna tataki (happy hour) hamachi carpaccio the poke and lobster tacos are also worth a try, but in my humble opinion they dont compare to the items listed above. outdoor seating, great people watching, (usually) great service, & dogs allowed! it can be tough to get a seat outside during happy hour, so it would behoove you to put your name on the list and walk around for a bit.

LISTEN UP. This place does have good food, but unfortunately the staff couldnt be any ruder. I usually never write reviews, but after this pretentious waiter STOLE from me, I couldnt just ignore it. Since the moment we got there, this long hair waiter, treated us like trash just because we were there for the lunch specials. Long story short, we ate, had an ok time, ordered the check and left. A couple of days later, I noticed I had been charged almost triple of what I was supposed to originally pay. Then I called the restaurant and told them of my situation, and noticed the waiter had added 0s to the tip.
