we were newlyweds staying in miami for a layover night after our cruise. we were seated immediately after showing up, but to avoid the noisy crowd and the kid with the dvd player in his lap, we asked to be sat off to the side. we were placed in a very italian alleyway with cozy tables for two and beautiful decor. our waiter, gregory, was very happy to wait on us and give his recommendations. as my wife is a vegetarian, there are usually not many options, but the selection here was more than adequate. you may not like a waiter that stays out of your hair, but i do; he got the information he needed and excused himself so that we might enjoy our own company. he was available when we needed him, though. the food runner was equally courteous. presentation, and more importantly taste, of the food was outstanding. given the atmosphere of our table, the friendly and courteous staff, delicious food at perfect portions, and the incredibly good house sangria, the price was perfectly fair: under $75 for three courses including drinks and tip. granted, you may need to catch a bus to the area, but the neighborhood didnt seem bad at all. the sidewalks however are not laid out to be pedestrian friendly; head back downtown for a lovely evening stroll by the bay ;)

I was very sad when leaving Soykas last night. I remember the days when Soyka was an experience. The food was good, the atmosphere great and the service superb. Sadly, the place has declined to what I would describe as a step below a low priced chain restaurant. The atmosphere is still good but the food is not even mediocre and is pricey for what you get. To start we ordered onion rings and got 4 large rings (yes, that means 1 ring per person for a table of 4) the breading was hard and the onion inside was so tough 2 of us could not eat it. I ordered a hamburger and it was a tasteless burger that came with a huge bun, definitely not worth the $11. The fries were cold and greasy. The service was slow and sporadic and the check took forever to get. Valet parking is more of a pain than a help and it would be nice to be able to park our own car and not have to wait for the (1) valet to pull around the car (at a price of $4). While the atmosphere is still great, I will not return. For the same money I can go to a place that serves flavorful food and has good service. I cannot recommend Sorkas anymore. .

I used to love the food here (except the mac and cheese..Tastes like kraft). I went every other week and had my birthday dinner there but I dont go anymore. They never refill my water and the waiter seems to be MIA almost all the time. Especially if you go during lunch, youre not a big party, and you dont order a lot, you will be ignored. I had to flag down a different waiter to fill my water and find my waiter. On top of that, the whole staff decided to have a meeting during their business hours while we were eating one day so we had to wait 15-20 min before our came back. On my birthday, they brought out a slice of chocolate cake that we didnt order with a candle. They had charged us $10 for the slice. I didnt mind since it was my birthday but I took a bite out of the mediocre cake and that was it. I dont go there anymore but I goto Balans which is a few blocks down. They have great service and good food as well(mac and cheese is wayyyy better). Such a shame since soyka has great food but I would like my dining experience to be comfortable as well.

Really, really, really liked this place. First off, they had a live jazz band playing and the woman that was singing was awesome! It was such a nice touch! Another thing I found that was really nice was that they have half portions. I never finish off an entire plate because portions are so huge, but the half potion was just right and let me tell you, it is still quite big. They dont skimp on the portions here. I had the half portion of the turkey meatballs with linguine and it was very, very good. Ralf (my other, better German half) had the hangover burger with the sweet potato fried and he couldnt stop raving about it. I had the house Chianti and it was very good. Ralf had coffee afterwards and he enjoyed it as well. hey have an outdoor seating area that makes you feel like you are in a little European cafe - very quaint and pretty with lots of greenery. Parking is only $5 if you valet which is a steal. Give it a try, I think youll like it :)

Great food, beautiful atmosphere. Be prepared to pay cash for parking. We were visiting the area and this spot came up as one of the most romantic restaurants in Miami, so we decided to try it out. We arrived and quickly learned that all of the parking for the restaurant was pay to park, and pay in cash. We managed to come up with $5 cash and get the car parked. When we walked in the door the atmosphere was very open and welcoming. The host greeted us immediately. We were asked about our seating preference and decided on the garden atrium and were given our choice of any open table. It was a very romantic area of the restaurant. I asked about an item that wasnt on the menu and the waitress offered to ask the chef if th dish could be made. They were able to make my dish. My husband decided on the meatloaf, which was very nice. Not too spicy not too bland. Excellent Ballance. Also in all I could not be more pleased with our experience here.

I just had a big birthday party for 30 people in their private vintage dining room. My party was perfect in every way. Service was par excellence. (If you are planning a party and considering Soyka, ask for Alain). I am a designer and super picky- potentially difficult to deal with.. who knows. He not only understood my vision for my party but accomodated me in every way.. Food was excellent and more than enough. I requested the beautiful roomwith antiques with a one long table intimate setting.. candles.. live jazz music from the lounge.. everything. Alain said no problem to everything. Prices were beyond fair. I recommend having the blueberry mojitos to start. That was a big party hit. My party guests stayed until the closing of the restaurant.. because they were having such a good time. I give Alain and Soyka an A+! I highly recommend... for dinner but especially for parties!

My experience at Soykas was truly indescribable. Me and a friend went to Sunday brunch and decided to try this restaurant for the first time. The service way amazing! This establishment appears to be very upscale, but we experienced a familiar comfort. The appearance, once inside, looks like a classic Italian bistro that you would see in France. The food was phenomenal!!! I tried the cheese blintz and I was in heaven. Ive never tasted any like these. Everything was fresh and I could tell that it was prepared by top chefs who knew what good food was all about. Our waitress was wonderful and friendly. She took very good care of us. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who has a passion for good food and great service. I cant wait to visit Miami again. Soykas will be the first stop on my list.
