The Sharp Edge name carries prestige in Pittsburgh for beer aficionados. For a Pittsburgh beer haven, the bar service is laking and under par compared to Fat Heads, Dees, Mad Mex and similar Pittsburgh establishments. The bar was not busy, yet the bartender was not attentive and seemed annoyed with us asking a few questions. She was more interested in talking with her workmates and watching TV. The Belgian draft beer selection is great, however the micro draft selection is lacking in styles and brewers, plus the online draft menu is not accurate. If bar service and selection of draft micros is a high priority I would not suggest the Sharp Edge Brasserie. The Friendship Sharp Edge or another bar mentioned above would be a better choice. Food wise its pricey, but tasty. Our food was brought out quickly and the food server was very helpful. Wish the food server was our bartender.

To call this place a "restaurant" would be very generous. Both times I have taken my family here I have walked out thinking to myself "that food would not have been worth it at HALF the price." Thats too bad, because the selection of beer on tap is pretty broad and interesting, despite the fact that the prices are way too high except during happy hour. When it first opened, I liked the atmosphere in the place, but it seems a bit on the dirty side now, kind of beat up looking as if nobody really cares. And every meal that weve had there has been awful. In the future, I might stop in for a beer during happy hour, but I would never order anything from the menu again.

Having been a customer of the original Sharp Edge since the 1970s, I was pleased when they opened a location in the South Hills very close to my house. Unfortunatly, that pleasure turned into pain with each visit. I have been there 4 separate times, in parties ranging from 2 to 10 people, and have had absolutely terrible service every time. We actually had to go find our waiter to get him to bus the table and get us another round of beers on one visit!

Firstly, I must mention the awesomeness of the Staff. They were fantastic and were on top of things on an extremely busy night (Friday Aug. 14). Secondly the beer is great and the variety is even better. Also, there are reviews on here about the food being bad, I had the food before and thought it was good for the price, but if it helps they changed the menu this month and I must say the food options look amazing and the Flemish Onion soup was just great!

Awesome beer selection. If you like Belgians they have an awesome variety. The staff is attentive and they are very knowledgeable about the beers and food they sell. The Garlic Bison burger is really good. The appetizers are also great. Definitely a nice stop after a rough day at work.

Terrible food. Burnt and cold at the same time. Pop and water tasted funky almost a well water type taste. Food did come fast. Felt bad for the waiter 6-7 on a friday night and were one of 3 people here. $12 for a 7 inch hoagie. $6.50 for a franziskaner I think not. Avoid.

Way understaffed, so even though there were very few customers, service was incredibly slow. Dishes were uninspired and execution was even less inspiring. Unless you want to buy some of their their highly overpriced beers, there is no reason to stop here.

Great beer selection and good service. The food was good. Only thing I would change, I wouldnt get the Buffalo bites again. Got a full order and received a small serving of chicken for the cost. Flavor was great, just overpriced.

Great place to eat and drink. Plenty of Belgian beers to choose from and every time Ive been here there has been a delicious chefs special on the menu. However, ones tab can get a bit pricey if theyre not careful!
