TLDR version - lunch-bucket, diner-style atmosphere in funky neighborhood; very well executed, creative dishes. Unique focus on multiple vegetable dishes. Seemed slightly over-priced, but definitely would return. Reduced from 5 to 4 stars (cant do 1/2 stars) only because of potential parking security issue. ATMOSPHERE - Blue Collar is a no-frills, postage stamp of a restaurant on busy Biscayne Blvd in NE Miami, Upper East Side. Adjacent streets are an eclectic mix of thriving businesses, vacant buildings, and well-established residential neighborhoods. I read the recent reviews by patrons who unfortunately had their cars vandalized in the nearby parking area. We did not experience that and never felt unsafe during our Sunday evening dinner, but the designated parking is not visible from the restaurant (a budget motel sits in-between), and doesnt have assigned security. Owners should address this if possible. - Outdoor patio was tightly spaced, and youre right on Biscayne Blvd, so there is the background road noise, but we never felt overwhelmed by either the cars or other diners. SERVICE - Arrived just prior to 6pm opening time to schedule a 7pm reservation. Glad we did, because 15-20 people were already waiting outside for the doors to open (a good omen). We were able to reserve an outside-patio table for four, and when we arrived at 7p, the host quickly prepared our table for seating. He even moved another group from our table who had not reserved so we could sit. That was much appreciated. - Members of our party have food allergies/dietary restrictions, and BC staff were very accommodating, helping them to select suitable menu options. - Restaurant was very crowded for the 90 minutes we were there, and the staff is not large, so service was understandably a bit slow; but we never felt ignored, and our servers were very helpful and attentive. FOOD The best part of a very good experience. Nobody was disappointed in their choices. Highlights included: *Awesome veggie options - over a dozen creatively-prepared vegetable dishes, plus a 4-Veggie entree. We researched a lot of restaurants, and this was the only one with such attention to vegetable dishes. *Cuban Sandwich Spring Rolls - decadent, deep-fried w/ serrano ham, manchego cheese and pickles. Small portion but delicious with mustard-mayo dip. *Sauteed Kale - simply amazing mix of bitter, salt, heat and almost-fermented-flavor warm kale goodness. *Crispy Red Snapper - fresh and flavorful *Salads - Fresh ingredients with excellent dressings *Dessert - Bread pudding with a Cayenne kick! A buttery, succulent finish to a great meal. Deserves its great reputation.

Since opening its doors in 2012, Blue Collar has been a constant favorite of our’s with a solid menu of tried-and-true dishes. And while plenty of those favorites remain on the menu, over the past few months Chef/Owner Danny Serfer has added a brand new selection of brunch, lunch and dinner items that we got to try firsthand. New on the mid-day meal menu are dishes like a Conch Fritters Po’ Boy with spicy tartar sauce and Fried Green Tomatoes with buttermilk dressing along with a brand new selection of the restaurant’s signature veggies like Spaghetti Squash with Parmesan and butter, Sweet & Sour Cabbage with sautéed apples and Roasted Fennel. All great in flavor and working perfectly with the already established menu. We got a taste of the dinner menu too trying out the fresh Grilled Rainbow Trout and the Scallops with fennel, peas and clam jus. Other new dishes included the Pan Roast of Mussels with sausage, garlic, beer, chili flakes and blue cheese and NY Strip served with house fries, compound butter and garlic aioli. Helping execute these dishes is the restaurant’s newly promoted chef de cuisine, Ervin Bryant, who joined the team in July 2014 as sous chef. Hailing from Morgan’s and Pacific Time, Bryant has more than 15 years’ experience in the industry.

A $50 gift card. No, thank you. This was a menial, sloppy and ultimately, insulting attempt to salvage what could have been a swell Sunday brunch. Upon completing our meal, we made our way outside only to learn that our vehicles stationed in the designated "blue collar parking" lot, (per signs allocated by the establishment) located mere steps away from the "restaurant" were damaged and broken into, in broad daylight, some time between noon-2:00p. As patrons of this facility, I foolishly believed that contacting management on-site would be a logical step. Unfortunately, they couldnt be bothered to address this incident. In a failed attempt to provide, at the very least, mediocre customer satisfaction; both the managing and supporting staff informed us several times that this was a common occurrence, yet no steps have been taken to mend this problem (i.e. security personnel, cameras, etc.). Rather, they have an individual working the valet, who found our situation to be laughable. The staff and management made it exceedingly clear that professionalism, common courtesy and customer satisfaction is neither emphasized, nor valued here at all. Our mistake for visiting this glorified Dennys. Appalled. Disappointed. NOT worth your personal safety.

On vacation you would expect to get something youve never tried before. So our group of 6 went to this place to try it out. The atmosphere was great when we got there & some of the staff were amazing. But when we begin to order our food many items on the menu were not Available to us which forced us to order something else. One of my friends ordered something and didnt like it so she decided to send it back. The "owner" and our waiter began to talk about it. So the owner begins to say I dont believe it and was kind of rude about the situation. I told our waiter that I heard everything the boss said and that it was very unprofessional and he begin to apologize for it. But the owner didnt so I wouldnt recommend this place because he was extremely rude & they didnt have the things we wanted on the menu.

Another of my favorite places here in Miami. Ive been a couple of times, and havent been disappointed yet. The service is always spot on, and great. Even though its a small place, they dont rush you to turn the table, which is a blessing in such a cozy location. The portions are big, each time I have gotten the steak and fries (the fries are really good btw) and Ive only been able to eat about 1/2 of it - "free lunch" the next day folks! Go early, this place is in high demand, and each time Ive walked in on a Friday night around 6pm and been seated right then and there, only too look up 20 minutes later to say "we got here at the right time". You wont be disappointed. This is a go to place in the up and coming neighborhood of Upper Eastside.

I love Blue Collar. I live close and this is a frequent stop for me. I just posted a review of Phuc Yeah (avoid) and Soyka, since Im a local. I think most of the reviews on google in general are fake by the owners so be wary of all the five stars guys!! However, this place is phenomenal. Truly the chef is a master here, everything Ive had has been TO DIE FOR. The sea scallops, the big ragout, the Cuban spring rolls (omg), the brunch menu :) Plus it is so vegetarian friendly! One of my favorite places in Miami. Truly original flavors and constantly new menu items. Its also Fairly priced compared to local competitors (*cough* Soyka) who dont even have original food! Seriously mouthwatering dishes tho.. Mmmm. Keep it up guys!

Had a great time at this place. Even though valet parking is very limited and there was a huge pot hole in the entrance that can catch you off gaurd easily, there is additional parking around the side. The space is a bit limited as well. I went there on a Saturday for lunch and it was packed but the service was super fast, the hostess told my group of four about 20 mins wait time and we where seated with our drinks and food orders in within 10 mins. The fact that it is on the design district bumbed the secnery up alot. Food of course was phenomenal and the table water was especually good too. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice buzzing but cozy atmosphere get a good helping of good food.
