Known for its beautiful views of Biscayne Bay and its high-caliber level of service, Azul at Mandarin Oriental, has been an acclaimed mainstay of South Florida’s dining scene close to 15 years. Named one of Forbes Travel Guide’s “Five-Star Restaurants” for three consecutive years, Azul recently appointed Benjamin Murray as chef de cuisine and this month, Murray unveils an inspired new menu of modern American cuisine with Asian influences and we were invited in for a first taste. Murray’s menu starts with a new selection of Snacks that offers a variety of seasonal modern bites like Smoky BBQ Eel with Japanese Worcestershire and Shiso Leaf and creamy Buttered Popcorn Polenta made with Saint Andre cheese. For larger dishes we got to try the Alaskan King Crab served with umeboshi butter, Asian pear, star fruit and Thai Basil. This vibrant, refreshing dish is the perfect representation of Murray’s style showcasing a variety of flavors in one bite. Another table favorite was the Grilled Short Rib in a sesame glaze served with black garlic, Swiss chard, tamarind and lemon balm. A variety of new Sweet Endings are also available including the Nashi Pear Mousse and Coffee Cream with almond chocolate daquois and bourbon ice cream and the Marbled Hazelnut Praline with cocoa volcanic earth and passion fruit gel.

The decoration is a little bit outdated, definitely would benefit from a renovation. The scenic views compensates somehow for that, but first impression is a step short of being great. Food was simply FANTASTIC. The bright spot of the night. Its a pity that the rest of the elements were not up to that. It could have been one of my greatest dinners ever. Good selection of wines. Sold with a high margin, but thats ok, you dont come here for the cheap prices. The servers were just ok. Somehow nice but they mangled badly with my card. Charged me twice for the dinner (my dinner AND another tables) They apologized but I was told that the bank was closed on a saturday night and that they couldnt cancel the charge until the next day (?). I was quite easy on them, a mistake is a mistake and it could happen to everyone, but three days later, I am still trying to talk with the management to get the charge rolled back, but no answer from the guys at the desk (werent too friendly either). As much as I would like to repeat and try the rest of the menu, my impression is that they dont care too much about customers repeating. As I say, a pity, because the food is really excellent

We were a large group and naturally we arrived with some time apart so those of us who came in early enjoyed the bar and the cocktails it has to offer. We were seated inside (on our request as it was too hot outside) but I would definitely recommend eating on the waterfront there. Service was lovely and friendly with a touch of humor which we appreciated. Most of us took the Miami-Spice menu that was offered at the time (August) and sported a very short but surprisingly tasty selection of various foods. It was very enjoyable and with the Miami Spice deal it was an awesome deal!!

One of the best dining experiences Ive ever had. I sat outside and started with the King Grab dumplings which were ok and the Short Rib Gyoza which was amazing. For the entree I had the Swordfish which was unreal. Being from the west coast Ive never had Swordfish but loved it. The service was fantastic and always on top of everything. One slight negative for me was the desert and cocktails being a little over priced compared to the food. Not a big deal as I was expecting to pay. Overall, great experience and I hope to be back before I head home.

Excelente servicio, el personal súper amable. El menú muy pretencioso, tiene una buena intención de lograr sabores originales pero no sorprende por la calidad de restaurante que es. Recomiendo sentarse afuera así podes disfrutar de la excelente vista.

Wonderful experience - Great service and impeccable food! Our waiter was attentive, quick (but not too quick) and accurate. The ambiance is wonderful. We ordered from the Miami Spice menu and our meal began with a soup as an amuse-bouche which I didnt particularly like, but it was complimentary so I cant complain. I ordered the beef tartare and grilled short rib and I feel like I won dinner for the night. Each dish was exquisite in presentation and taste. I would absolutely visit this restaurant again.

A new chef but the website hasnt caught up with the new menu (pretty sad for a major, expensive hotel.) I came specifically for the tasting menu shown on the web but was told "sorry, we have a new chef and he will eventually do a tasting menu--but not now." Nonetheless, a beautiful location (if the weather is good, ask for a table on the balcony) and nearly perfect service. The menu is brief and well executed, but not imaginative or unusual.

This restaurant is in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which is an architectural standout and Azul follows suite with great views, a clean fresh look to the dining room and outstanding food. Great wine list, raw bar that is superb and inventive cuisine. Great for a special occasion or business dinner. Outside tables are available for drinks or dining. Service was OK, not as attentive as I would have expected but maybe it was a busy night...enjoy!

Wonderful experience! Ive read some reviews that the food was not up to par for the prices, but I totally disagree. The short rib entree was spectacular and the king crab appetizer was light and delicious. The timing of the courses was perfect and Claudio went out of his way to create a special experience. I highly recommend Azul for a special occasion or just a lovely night out.

Brent (waiter) is the best, he made us feel so good, his attention was excellent, very professional , courteous, awesome people skills, polite and funny, also Giovanni was very special and kind. Azul staff has the best attention to detail, and human talent...besides that the food was divine and the view superb.

Some of my colleagues and I came here the day before valentines day for dinner after a long day. I have been to some of properties owned by the same company as this, but was not as thrilled or impressed like I was at the other spots. The server was great and very helpful, but the food was lacking a...

Asian flavored western cuisine. I love this balanced restaurant. The testing course makes you full. I love its presentations! They always open new bottle of champagne if you order glass of champagne and they find it is not bobbly enough.

Consistently awesome. Good mix of new cooking methods but still healthy portions. Service is always classy and unhurried. Service and Food not cheap but the good feeling they give you here is a great contrast to other establishments.

The Food was Fresh and delicious. We went to last week and were offended by the service and the quality of the food. I really impressed with their services that was really quick & polite. Atmosphere is too natural I love that….

The sleek surroundings do not detract from the eye-popping food on your plate. Best if someone else pays, but the August restaurant month deals are a steal! Go, even if you have to mortgage the condo!
