On April 17 2015 during Happy Hour, my wife and I along with 6 other adults were sitting on the north side of the bar consuming drinks and food. Nothing out of the ordinary, just your typical Happy Hour. The bar was full and the place was loud. Out of nowhere, the new manager, who refused to give us his name, stated that he had received a "complaint" that we were being too loud and that he had decided to close out our open tab. To me this was absurd, since I have been going to this restaurant since it was inaugurated and originally named Houstons, and have never been told here or at any other bar/restaurant that I/we were being too loud? After having spent literally, tens of thousands of dollars at this location since its inauguration, I guarantee you that I and members of my family, friends, business associates, etc will not step foot into this establishment until this "baby face" restaurant manager is either terminated, transferred or he voluntary quits. The same holds true for the other members of my group who were insulted at the treatment received during this evening. This 21 year old looking restaurant manager knows nothing about this community, its people, the city, is arrogant, and knows nothing about the hospitality industry. Before this night, I had already heard stories from other patrons who have had other bad experiences with this manager, etc, but didn’t believe it. And then, it actually happened to us! In the meantime, I will be taking my money to Mortens across the street, which has a manager that is very accommodating, professional, experienced, and knows how to take care of the guests. Thank you for your time.

Typically Id rate Hillstone 5 stars but sadly yesterday was the first average experience there. Usually the service is above par, the food is cooked perfectly and we leave completely satisfied. Last night was sadly a unique experience at hillstone. Firstly, I made the reservation a week prior and made sure to tell the hostess how important it was to have a key lime pie brought out at dessert time with a candle and presented to the shaved headed person at our table. When we arrived I had my husband remind the server to ensure everything went without any issues. Well it didnt. Our server asked us what we want for dessert and then failed to bring it out without a candle. Really disappointing considering all the steps I took to ensure my friends birthday was special. Secondly, the birthday boy orders the Hawaiian rib eye medium only to have it come out medium rare. Literally a light sear and bloody red on the inside. At Hillstones price point, the steak should have been cooked properly the first time. Not the best experience for the birthday boy to have to eat his steak alone as we watched since our meals had been finished minutes before. The manager did comp our appetizer and dessert but didnt make up for the poor experience for the birthday boy.

Las dos chicas que habia hoy dia 12 de diciembre a las 4:30 p.m dando la bienvenida a las personas que entran al local fueron de lo mas antipaticas , desagradables y arrogantes conmigo cuando llegue,aunque lo solicite en dos ocasiones no quisieron prestarme 5 minutos una pluma o lapicero para rellenar una aplicacion de trabajo.no creo q la politica de este restaurante sea tratar a las personas de esta manera,por eso dejo esta critica aqui para que la persona encargada de seleccionar al personal pueda entender lo que yo experimente con estas dos senoritas.

What prompted me to write this review of a great restaurant with lots of fantastic steak and seafood dishes is their veggie burger. I know, veggie burgers are usually an afterthought token menu item to justify restaurant owners saying that they offer vegetarian options. Usually its the same pasty black bean and corn patty everyone else serves. Hillstone makes their own and it is AMAZING. Im not even a vegetarian. Im at most an occasional recreational vegetarian. This veggie burger was great. Yes, it has some black beans, but its balanced with brown rice, figs (YUM), jalapeños, and some other stuff I cant remember. Theyve optimized the balance between nutrition and flavor. Its meaty and sweet with a kick and its served with melted jack cheese on a slightly sweet brioche-like bun. I was really impressed. Service was professional, attentive, courteous, non-intrusive, knowledgeable. A billion stars.

We go to this restaurant almost every Sunday for the delicious Onion Soup some Caesar Salad and one of their huge Chesseburgers for me. Also, the bread they give you is out of this world and we usually ask for seconds. They have steak on the menu but for the price you are better off getting steak somewhere else in my opinion. You could get just as good a steak at Outback and pay half the price, or you could pay a similar price at Morton’s and get a much better steak. This past Sunday we decided to try something new and got the Spinach and Artichoke dip, we were very disappointed that we had not ordered this amazing treat before! It was so good we down it in about 5 minutes. I highly recommend Houston’s for a business lunch or a casual night out, it is even good for a semi-formal night out. If you are in a rush for time or rolling solo you can also eat at the bar.

Well lets start with the great atmosphere, lively and festive. The staff from the hostess to the large number of servers were all so friendly. Random servers would come by our table and offer to take plates or refill your drinks, a great teamwork environment. Now the very best part was the food. I had an "Off the menu" bone in Prime Rib which was cut to my specifications (20oz). They dont have this on the menu, you have to be in the know. Im telling you it was perfectly cooked, the Aujus was so perfectly seasoned for dipping. It was a close your eyes and remember the felling of pure ecstasy while you taste steak perfection. I had a side of Mashed potatoes which they make to order.. umm yes too order, this makes for an outstanding flavor to say the least. I will absolutely return, this was a fun and super enjoyable experience.

Tappa obbligata quando siamo a Miami. Il sushi è spettacolare e qualsiasi altro piatto... anche un semplice hamburger... assolutamente sublime. La scelta dei vini per noi italiani non è straordinaria... ma alcuni tentativi su etichette sconosciute non ci hanno deluso.... Il servizio è meticoloso fino al limite delleccesso... ma i camerieri campano di tips... e a loro modo ti coccolano...

"Consistent" is probably the most frequently used word to describe Hillstone - and with good reason. The quality of food and service are something you can always count on, a reliable dining experience that isnt just expected when you walk through the door, its guaranteed. Thats why locals, like me, continue flocking to Hillstone. Amid Miamis ever-changing restaurant industry, Hillstone remains impeccably consistent and its culture of excellence is always perceptible. The winning strategy of this restaurant is how theyve mastered simplicity and transformed everyday menu options into a fine dining experience in this vibrant and energetic location. It is by far one of my favorite restaurants of all time, not to mention they make the best martini in town!

As a vegetarian I had low expectations for this place. I fully expected to be eating a salad or a few sides, but Ill tell you this, I was proven wrong. Hillstones veggie burger is now on my personal top 5 best burger list. It might even be the best burger Ive eaten ever (and thats compared to meat burgers as well). I couldnt event tell it was a veggie burger. My taste buds only knew one thing, it was DELICIOUS! I also ordered the grilled artichokes, which were to die for, and tostones. Overall the meal was great. Our server was great as well. She was friendly, courteous and professional. I will definitely be frequenting this establishment again.
