Never again! Pompous owner & clueless servers! Went there for my grandmother in-laws 85th birthday (sweet woman), with my mother in-law and my wife. It seemed busy, but there were 5 tables open, 3 since we arrived. After about 20 minutes of standing around I approached the owner which was keeping himself away from everything by the kitchen counter. I asked nicely if there was a chance to be seated since the tables were available. He dismissed me with some attitude and saying that they knew what they were doing, which obviously they didnt. The staff seemed too scared to sit us, they had no host in front and one server seemed like he was trying to help but had no clue himself plus he had his own tables. Seemed they were scared to make any moves without approval. The server even snapped at Mimi (grandma). When they finally sat us at one of the empty tables that was available since we arrived (35 minutes later) we were quietly voicing our concerns when the owner came to our table and said "well you folks dont have to stay any longer". After that rudeness we decided to go. Not one rude comment from us, but very rude treatment from the staff. And Mimi was a regular at the restaurant! The food looked good but never got a taste and never will. The owner seemed to have the attitude that he was above all and that the customers were there for him and not the other way around. As a family we like to offer our support to our local non-chain restaurants but with an attitude like that no wonder they are losing the franchise battle. We wound up at the trusty Bahama Breeze with quick seating and a wonderful waitress (Nicole) who showed appreciation for our patronage. Go Bahama Breeze!

My husband, good friend and I went to this establishment for breakfast this morning. We arrived just before 11:00am. They were busy, but not overwhelmingly. Our waitress came by about 10 minutes after we seated ourselves. We took a few moments to look at the menus and ordered around 11:15am. I watched as 3 other tables came in and sat down and received their food before us. By 11:45am we were ready to leave. The power had gone out for a moment twice while we were there. When we informed our waitress, Debbie, who had seated one of the other tables that received their food first, her excuse was the power outage. I understand that can put a kitchen behind, but what does that have to do with the other tables receiving their food first? We never got an apology, only the power outage excuse. We were really excited to try a local spot since we are locals ourselves. Now were hungry and at Publix.

I decided to give the secrecy garden a spin today an for some reason i thought it to be kinda fancy but when you walk in, it is a old grandmother dinner place which isnt bad, to me at least. Service was good an Pleasant. I ordered 2 of the French toast classics for $5.99 each. thinking since it said classic i thought it was original in some way sadly I was wrong. No sides of any kind come with the toast unless you pay $2.25 more an at which point you should just op out for the French toast platter which comes with ur choice of just grits or potatoes for $8.95. When my French toast arrived they looked good an I thought to myself thinking they would be great even if I paid a little for it. Sadly on both of them they were not completely done. Instead of a fluffy French toast I had some soggy bread lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Never again, I agree with Mr. |Bombastik65, What a waste of time, |After waiting for over an hour to recieve our food, 2 salads, and no dressing and one way over cooked monte carlo. it was medioker at best, what little staff thatwas working were way over worked. The kitchen was smaller than the one at home, for the two cooks in the kitchen, who was over whelmed by the amount of orders. The spent 10,000.00 on paint and wall treatment,Whata waste they should have hiredmore staff, and tooka class on how to runa restraunt. Close your doors today save your self from embaressment, this place will never make it, people dont have 2 hour to wit for there lunch atmost 1 hour we arrived at 12:30pm and received our food at 1:45pm my daughteer only gets 1 hour for lunch she will be docked for the time she missed.

The secret is.....this place does not service large parties. My family and I decided to go to this place because the reviews were so good. Upon entering the lady at the counter says"not another large group" and walks off. Another lady approached us to let us know that a few minutes before we arrived, they had just seated a large group and that they could not accommodate us because it would slow the kitchen down, and that their tables are for parties of 2 and 4((THERE WAS 12 IN MY PARTY , WE COULDVE SAT AT 3 DIFFERENT TABLES))We werent asked to wait a few minutes or anything, just turned away. Apparently they dont need the business. The only reason we stopped in Jacksonville was to go to this place. So this is a warning to all large groups over 4 people go elsewhere.

OMG what a great place. Our family rates eating establishments across Jacksonville sending our family or friends to places that deserve business. Secret Garden Cafe truly deserves the high rating we gave it as 3 of our judges are super tasters who require less seasoning or food enhancement ingredients in food to get the same taste results as those over 60 seniors in our group. We judge on menu, quality and quantity of food, taste, service, price, seating and atmosphere. This Cafe deserved 5 stars! Excellent in every category...Menu, Food, Taste, Service, Price, Seating and Atmosphere. The staff was courteous, attentive and answered all our questions. One more plus, ample parking at 10095 Beach Blvd. This is one Cafe you dont want to miss.

I went to secret garden today and I was impressed with decor. I ordered a burger all the way except tomato. My BF ordered a Philly cheese steak. We waited 20 to 25 minutes for our food. At that point I was expecting a seriously delicious burger. Unfortunately, my burger came out with only lettuce and it was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. Also, it wasnt served with ketchup or mustard, those items were brought to after my food was served. The salad accompanying my burger was unimaginative. It seemed like a bagged salad with only greens and TOMATOES. My BF said his Philly ok but nothing he would return for. Due to the long wait we returned to work 10 minutes late. The service wasnt really note worthy. It isnt likely that we will dine there again.

Yum!! My husband and I ate at The Secret Garden for the first time last weekend and I can promise this will not be our last visit. We were greeted promptly and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Belgian Waffle with bacon and my husband ordered the Smothered Biscuits. The waffle was very good and the honey butter was incredible! The Smothered Biscuits were great as well. The gravy was seasoned little different than the typical sausage gravy that you usually fine. The flavors were very fresh and the price for the portions was on par. We will absolutely be adding The Secret Garden into our weekend breakfast places.
