Odd mix at the Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet. Tonight my wife and I went over to try this newly opened buffet just around the corner from Tinsel town and boy were we surprised. Upon entrance we were greeted with hellos and smiles by what seems to be an all female staff. We were escorted to our table by our kindly hostess and placed our drink orders. The tea was hot and strong, just the way I like it. At first glance, the selection of food is very impressive, the location overlooking the lake with deck seating out on the water was gorgeous, and the blue/red lighting on the ceiling added a nice aesthetic quality. From chicken and beef dishes to shrimp and assorted seafood, you almost can’t go wrong. The full sized ribs covered in barbeque sauce are especially tempting. I highly recommend the crawfish. Few places take the time to cook and spice them just right. Tonight was particularly nice; having a whole roasted beef tenderloin on display soaking in its own delicious gravy was absolutely perfect. That being said, I do have a few issues. The fresh “sushi” bar had the smallest selection of any buffet I had been to in Jacksonville; furthermore, I’m not sure you are allowed to call it sushi if there is no fish in the roll. Wrapping a slice of avocado and cream cheese in rice is not sushi. The few other rolls available had a micron of fish on the very top as if it were a decoration or possibly the chef was pulling a fast one thinking customer wouldn’t notice. Another rice ball had a piece of fish on top that was so thin I admired the chef’s skill for managing to even cut it. At least the fish was fresh. After sampling every dish, I was overall satisfied with the flavor and quality of the food, which is why I was so shocked to find these needless tricks being pulled. This could have been a five star experience if they didn’t try and pull such cheap tricks on their customers. Please note that the treasure shrimp is merely a ball of bread with a tail sticking out. Rarely have I ever encountered a place that cut such unnecessary corners in order to save a buck. Finally, although their advertisement in the paper clearly shows big beautiful crab legs, I was very disappointed to find out that they only serve them on Friday. Afterwards I went over to the fruit and salad table. They have everything you could need to make yourself a very nice salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and even shredded cheese for topping in addition to the assorted dressings. The fruit table had a nice selection with assorted melons, pineapple, bananas in cherry sauce, rice pudding, and flan. From there I moseyed on over to the dessert section to find whole assorted cakes and real ice cream. Not some frozen whipped powdered milk from a machine, but real ice cream. Again, I must say that I am very surprised that the buffet has such high quality on with all their other food, but seriously cut corners in the seafood area. As soon as I sat down with my dessert the waitress pounced like a ninja and slapped that check down on the table, with a smile and a thank you. Having sampled all there was to offer, I was feeling slow and in no mood to be rushed out the door; especially with my ice cream in hand. So my final assessment is: 4 out of 5 for the food, 3 out of 5 for the service, 4 out of 5 for food selection, and 4 out of 5 for the atmosphere. If you can tolerate the cutting corners and rushed ending, this place can be a very enjoyable dining experience that I would recommend to anybody. Just not to a sushi lover. ;-)

Me, my mom, and my kids usually go here at least once every 2 weeks and enjoy it very much. So we decided to take some friends and family there was like 15 of us, as we walked in we told them that there was 15 ppl 3 where babies that needed highchairs. First they tried to sit us at 2 different tables and said that they didnt have a table to sit all of us i asked them if they could open the back room so we would all be able to sit all together i was told NO that room was closed, so we moved the tables around our-selfs to make room for everyone to sit together. We had just left the movies and i was still really full off popcorn so i decided i wasnt goin to eat. I made my 3 kids plates and my 9mth old nieces plate and sat down with everyone. When got our drinks the 4 sprites we order where out of syrup all u could taste was CO2, the apple juice they gave us for 2 of the babies and 1 other person was hot we had to ask 3 different times for ice. took them about 20mins for them to come back with the ice and the sprite to be fixed. 1 of the guys found hair in the sweet-n-sour sauce and the pizza, and told 1 of the ladies that was cleaning and fill food on the buffet. After about an 30mins of sitting there with everyone and feeding my neice and of coruse smelling the food i said umm i going to eat it smells to good lol i ignored the hair that we found. So i went to make me a plate on the grill which always my favorite thing about this place. As i got to the end i found a dead FLY in the chicken i showed it to the guy and he just picked up the dead FLY and left the chicken sitting there instead of pulling the dish off the buffet. So i went to talk to the manager about all the PROMBLEMS we had been having. She called us liers and we didnt find hair in the food, she kept laughing and rolling her eyes the whole time i was talking to her. Then they brought me my bill i told them to take the bill some where esle because i was paying for FLYS AND HAIR in my food. They said they where calling the cops i told them i didnt care, and walked out they chase me and my 3 kids outside in the rain and kept trying to stand behide my car so i couldnt leave and get my lincese plate number. i told them i would pay for my kids which did eat and i would pay for the ppl that didnt find HAIR in there food they still came chasing us outside screaming and yelling saying i needed to pay i told them never even ate when i was going to eat i found a fly put my back down and the waiter kept trying to say i did eat, that seen me making plates which once again was my 9mth old and my 3 yr olds plates. I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AND IM CALLING THE HEALTH DEP. AS SOON AS IM DONE WRITING THIS.

We went to Royal Buffet Hibachi & Sushi on Monday from 1:30-3:00 pm. We were seated promptly upon entering the restaurant. The hostess took our drink order & left the ticket on the table for our server. Our drinks were on the table when we returned from getting our food. We ordered Two Hot Teas & One Water to Drink. I got Fried Rice with Vegetables, Rice Noodles with Vegetables, Sesame Seed Balls, Egg Roll, a Small Piece of Fried Fish, Honey Dew Melon, Cantaloupe, Orange Jello, an Orange Slice, Two Half Scoops of Mint Ice Cream, A Few Sugar Coated Peanuts, & A Small Piece of Peanut Brittle. The fish was not thoroughly cooked, the cantaloupe was not fresh, the ice cream was nasty where people had not rinsed the scoop between kinds, the water to rinse the ice cream scoop was nasty, & outside the front door needed sweeping & papers picked up. Everything else was either perfect or very good. The tables & floor inside was very clean. The buffet lines were clean, the hot foods were hot, & the cold foods were cold. The server picked up our dirty dishes quickly & nicely. She was very nice & business friendly, but not too friendly. My husband ate Green Beans, Sweet Potato Soufflé, Fried Tomatoes (I think), Bananas with Red Sauce, Honey Dew Melon, Red Jello, Butter Pecan Ice Cream, Cookies, & Several Other Items I didnt get a good look at. He said that his food was all very good, except for the fried fish not being fully cooked. He also complained about the ice cream & its area being nasty. Overall, we were very pleased. The price had gone up from our previous visit when it was Hibachi Grill & Buffet, but seemed to be fair. Since the server brought our drinks & removed our dirty dishes when we put them to the side of the table & would be cleaning the table after we left we gave her $3.00 tip. We feel thats fair. We were able to stay longer time because they were not super busy. So we didnt lock up a table the server needed for more customers, because there were plenty of vacant tables. Also, we didnt see but maybe one person from the previous crew working. All the employees seemed to be on their toes & staying busy. We will return & will tell our family & friends about the changes in the restaurant for the better. Thank you for a very enjoyable lunch. Xia xia nyee!
