I went to Beach Road this weekend and pray I never go back. I was totally disgusted when I left. I do not know what happened to this restaurant but it is not the same. I went in and placed 2 orders which I wrote out separately and explained to the cashier what I needed, each order in separate boxes as I am dropping off food to our grandsons and the other order will go home with me. I have ordered this way before and always have been thanked for writing my order out in advance. Well this time was different. First they brought out my 2 orders combined into one box, which I asked to have separate. They took the chicken back to split into 2 boxes and when she brought it back out, she said you mean you want the fries and biscuits separated too. I said yes and again explained I was dropping off one order. Then they proceeded to give me sides that were individual servings instead of the pints I was supposed to get. I again asked that my order be as ordered and I guess she was the manager took the sides back and said "Oh my God" and walked back into the kitchen. I guess when you order two large dinners you are supposed to accept what they want you to have not what you have ordered. By this time, I had enough and asked for my money back which I spent $96.00. The cashier and I guess the manager huddled in the back and then the cashier came out and said "Did the chicken not look good?" I told here No the chicken was fine, it was her managers attitude. I explained to her that I had been a customer since we picked up food under the old oak tree years ago and I had never been treated like this. She said she was sorry and said the girl was having a bad day. I told her she needs to learn not to take things out on the customers as this is one customer that will not be back. We had planned to order for Easter Sunday for all of our family as we do every year, but I told her I would be using Popeyes from now on. I left there and went straight to Popeyes since I had promised our grandsons chicken for lunch. I went in ordered the 2 large dinners, asked for separate boxes and in less than 5 minutes was on my way with exactly what I asked for and only spent $53.00. I think Beach Road needs to reevaluate their customer service and remember it is hard to replace long time customers. I have also set up with Popeyes to take care of Easter for us.

We had always heard great things about this place and it was always packed so we figured one day last week to give it a try. First off, the place is nasty, hot and smelly. Waitress was friendly until we started asking about why the dinners were so huge and expensive. Then she got all snotty. The smallest dinner you can get is 4 pieces of chicken! And if you wanna share with another member of your party, its a $4.99 share charge! Yeah the sides might be all you can eat, but they only bring small amounts at a time. And they are not all that great. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant, rice was instant, french fries tasted like they had been refried. The all white chicken bites are 4 chicken tenders and was over $10.50. The chicken was greasy and tasted as if it was cooked in old grease. Oh and the best part, you cant take ANY of the sides home with you, only the chicken and the hard tack biscuits that my dogs wouldnt even eat. We learned our lesson to never, ever eat here again and discourage everyone we know from the same. This place might be a Jax landmark or icon to some but not this lady. Yeah, I believe it opened in 1939 and the building and air conditioning show their age. Not impressed what so ever!

I use to come here at least once a week. My boyfriend and I love the chicken here. About a month ago we moved further away, so we stopped going. Yesterday we decided to take the drive to get some of this chicken we love. And it was the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant, from the moment we walked in. We werent greeted when we walked in, and a women just asked us if we wanted the table that was next to the door. We sat down and no one came by to even ask our drink order. We sat and waited for 30 minutes until another waitress said to the women you havent helped that table. She finally came and took our order. Which took another 20 minutes until we received it. Meanwhile other customers came in, were greeted kindly, and received their food before we did. Our waitress seemed bothered by us the whole time and didnt really care to check if we needed anything. When we fished our meal, I had to flag down other servers for to- go bags and the check. Im not sure if this women just didnt like us or didnt like the color of our skin. I guess Ill never know what the issue was, I just know I wont be coming back.

Well it was my first time that this location. I must say the service and attitude of the staff was not very welcoming nor professional. My co-workers and I went there for lunch and about six of us in about 2 or 3 of them refused even order they got up and left because of the attitude of the staff and that they were very unaccommodating to us period we did not know they had two different menus one for dining and one for taking out and they did not try to explain that to us. It was very rude very rude. So we decided to get it out cars drive around to the take-out area to place the order for the food that we wanted for the price to be wanted. The food was nice but the attitude of the staff makes it very hard to go back there. I dont know if its a race thing or not I dont know I hope not because and is there a time trust me we are already going backwards because of our political government we dont need everybody to go backwards. But I dont think Ill be going back there again knowing their right now for my job I dont know

My coworkers told me about this place a while back and since I was on that side town I figured I give it a shot... Wow this place was AMAZING! Got the 4 piece dark meat dinner and man oh man was it good! I couldnt believe how much food you got with the dinner cream peas, biscuits, I chose mashed potatoes, and a huge bowl of brown gravy to go with it. Their sides are bottomless so if you run out just ask for more! Everything was very good!!! The mashed potatoes were not home cooked they were instant but still mixed with that brown gravy my god I couldnt stop eating them!!! The cream peas were also very good (and thats coming from a person who hates peas) and the biscuits were also great! Overall its a great place to eat and you get a TON of great food for a very very very good price!The building is a little old and dated (pretty clean on the inside though) but do not let that turn you away from such great food for a very good price! Two very big thumbs up and I will go back again... very soon!
