The island vibe, decor, very beachy & fun! You can sit inside in the A.C. to cool off or sit outside the covered back porch at a table with a grass umbrella. The location is literally steps from the sand & beach but parking is limited so you cant leave your car there while you go to the beach BUT public beach access is right behind here and there are some parking spots at that beach access. Weve been here several times over the last 3 months & there has been available parking all but twice. The food at kooky coconut is great, fresh, homemade taste. I love the tuna stuffed avocado! My son loves their hot dogs & awesome ice cream selections. My husband loves their Cuban sandwiches & variety of beer. We have always had good service here. I read a comment below that mentioned a bald guy yelling at people in parking lot and I must say, I have never seen any1 matching that description working there, nor have we ever experienced such a thing there... Coming to think about it, Ive never seen ANY1 yelling at Indian rocks beach, anywhere. Weve been there a lot. Indian rocks beach is a safe, small, beach town, with a very cool, away from the world, laid back, island feel. Its not commercialised, theres many small, locally owned, unique, fun businesses in the area & the kooky coconut is our fav!

If you are in the Indian Rocks Beach area, this is one place you and the kids will not want to miss. From the outside, this place looks like dump, but once inside you will see it for the hidden gem it really is. All of the ice cream is homemade, and although they have the old standby vanilla, chocolate, and cookies and cream, they also have some truly unique flavors. You really have to try the Superman! If your looking for a light bite, this place is fantastic. The walking taco is a must try! A bag of Doritos all crushed up, with taco meat, and all the standard taco toppings. You eat it right out of the bag with a spoon! Amazing! The cuban sandwiches here are to die for, as are all of the other light bite items I have tried of the course of the last year! The staff is super friendly, and they also have a nice selections of cold beverages, and a small gift shop with shells, and other trinkets. Whether you walk in off the street, or walk off the beach, you are sure to find this hole in the wall at total gem!

Looking for a good Cuban? Look elsewhere. If you want something Jesus Christ would endorse, then you found the right spot. Kooky Coconuts has become Gods hands when it comes to making Cuban sandwiches. I have no idea how they do it, but EVERY TIME I get a Cuban, the aroma makes me want to rip it open in my car before I get home to eat it. The freshly made bread is pressed perfectly - not too crispy, but enough to give the perfect bite in your mouth. The mustard/cheese/whatever-else sauce on the sandwich coats your taste buds with a velvety, light layer of heaven. Then you get to the best part: the freshly roasted pork. The flavor explodes in your mouth and send chills down your arms and legs so fierce that you cant help but sit back in your chair to savor the moment. And thats just the first bite - you have several more left! Take a deep breath and take the next bite.

Go to Haze. Theres no parking. Went in here one night to get ice cream and then watch the sunset. The beach parking was filled up and their lot was COMPLETELY EMPTY but because I wanted to go to the beach after running up a $30 tab, they wouldnt let me park in their lot. They suggested that I go find street parking 3-4 blocks away (which by the way doesnt exist because theres no parking signs) and then walk back. Lol no. Your ice cream isnt worth walking 8 blocks for especially when you have a completely empty lot. Save your time and go to Haze. Haze has parking for miles and the ice cream is much better too.

Monday 16 October 2016, 9pm. Local Family of 6 stopped here for ice cream...4 kids all under ten and two adults. Sometimes it is a bit crowded here as it is popular. If there are more than 5 or 6 people in front of you it will take about 15 minutes to get served. Usually one person behind the counter and one in the back They have 2 benches on the beach but they ask you park in beach parking if you sit there. Its a great place to watch sunsets or even sit in the breeze at night under the stars. For 4 ice creams, a root beer float and a cookie, total cost was $19.92. Friendly staff always too.

This place is more Awesome than I normally expect from an ice cream joint. We had it multiple times while we had family staying within walking distance of the Kooky Coconut and loved their walking tacos, multiple different coffee drinks, and their malts. I mistakenly walked in one night at 10pm go get two malts, thinking they closed at 11. I quickly realized I had just ordered two malts at 10:01, and felt terrible. An owner assured me it was no problem, and they made two excellent Malts right at closing. Highly recommended!!

JoAnne, I hope you see this message. I just called and spoke with Joseph who HUNG UP ON ME. Is this the kind of Customer service you allow? I was told he was busy and he does not have time to handle my issue in regards to parking. After being HUNG up on I called back and another nicer gentleman told me you would be in at 6pm. I look forward to following up with you on this matter. I live in Dunedin and visit your shop REGULARLY at least I USED to. The girl working today already knew my order thats how often I visit there.

I first visited in March 2014 , I was in Florida, it was nice and warm, unlike back home in Massachusetts where snow was still coming down, and I was eating ice cream at the Cooky Coconut! I have been back every year since, if you are visiting Indian Rocks Beach you have to stop. Friendly staff, small but cozy place and they dont just have ice cream but thats all I can attest to. Ill be there this March and I cant wait.

Phenomenal! The service staff is the happiest Ive seen. They know their menu. They dont argue when you say, "were going to split it." The master in the kitchen is fast, precise, and knows how to make a damn good sandwich. We got our order so hot we had to stare at it for several agonizing minutes before diving in. It is our absolute favorite when we hit the beach. Please keep it up Kooky!!!
