This is one of those rare local restaurant finds that make traveling and exploring worthwhile. Al & Stella is almost a hole in the wall restaurant in a strip center (free parking in the rear). We came upon it while walking to another restaurant nearby that was far too noisy for our tastes. A&S is small, intimate, cozy and romantic. Limited outside seating is available on the sidewalk, and is great for intimate dining and people watching along the street in the evening. The food served is really quite good, featuring fresh ingredients, homemade pastas and a flair for improvisation. The Italian style seafood dishes are exceptionally good. The wine list is a little limited, but is very much in keeping with the reasonable prices of entrees. For desert, they have a wide selection of Italian gelatos among other sweets. Our service was also excellent, attentive and friendly. Again, this gem is one we plan on returning to!

Went here for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend and the service was terrible. I waited over 30 min for water refills and then never got offered my check or checked on once. I ended up pouring water out of my boyfriends cup because I was so thirsty. This is a small place and was highly unacceptable for a fine restaurant that they claim to be. The owner was extremely rude to me and blamed me for not understanding how restaurants operate. She claimed that she was watching on a camera and that I was lying to her. She said that it was busy when we were one of only a few tables in there and there were at least five tables that had not been bussed. Two for the entire time we were there. She told me it wasnt my concern, but it is if Im eating in a restaurant dirtier than my home when I expect a nice date night. Stay away from this place and save your money.

Calamari was good. Veal Picatta was okay. Asked for linguine but was served spaghetti. Asked about the linguine and the waitress tried to tell me the pasta she gave me was linguine. Really!? And I thought people in an Italian restaurant would know the difference. After convincing the waitress it was not linguine she went to the kitchen to ask about the pasta... maybe. Who knows what she really did because she was gone for about 8-10 min before coming back and telling me they ran out of linguine. Wow. Thanks for letting the paying customer know. Service was good until this point. Disappointed. Will not patron establishment ever again. Also the chicken for the chicken parmesan was grilled not fried. Thats a first.

Personale preciso e preparato.

Had an excellent meal at Al & Stellas tonight. We had the gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce and spinach ravioli and both were excellent. Their Torte Della Nonna desert which is a lemon custard torte is outstanding. Ive read previous reviews about bad service but our service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Also, I read about an automatic 18% gratuity added to all checks but there was no gratuity added to our party of three. So, I think what ever issues there may have been with the service have been addressed. Definitely worth a try and judging for yourself.

The worst dining experience in my entire life. I chocked on a shell that I found in my soup, very tiny piece that stock in my trough. Be careful what you order and watch everything you eat there. Owner Stella is a very obnoxious, rude and unprofessional. Raise her voice when I try to point out what happened telling me its my fault. I was never threatened like that in my entire live. There are a lot better places in Clearwater Beach for a diner and great atmosphere but NOT AL and STELLA. I will never come back there.

My husband and I have been coming here for the past 6 years. Weve always enjoyed the food and had a memorable experience. Recently we tried the new Sand Key location and decided its our new spot. Its cozy inside and has a water view. It reminds me of our fav Italian restauant we loved when we lived in southern california Its a rare find -a water view in florida with really good food. And believe me, Stella can cook! Looking forward to our next visit!

THE WORST SERVICE ON THE BEACH! And the owner said that is ok, she would rather serve less people??????? I saw tables leave because they sat there for so long. I had to get up to get silverware,I had to get my own drinks, had to go ask for water! I told the owner about our experience and she yelled at me and said I was insulting her. The server added a tip to our bill! We were 4 adults and 2 babies. They said was a party of 6 or more. The owner

My family and I were looking for a family friendly restaurant at night. We came across Al and Stellas in Clearwater Beach. Very friendly service. Great pizza fed the whole family. My son loved the fresh garlic bread/toast. Had a homemade, delicious cannoli for dessert. Eddy Dean provided live music - awesome. Quiet atmosphere, which we appreciated. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

The Gnocchi was awesome. hard to find it in Florida anywhere but they made it perfectly. Lobster ravioli was outstanding too. Great wine selection, service was great, we will be back. We were at the Mandalay location, parking was easy and free. Florida has thousands of restaurants, most are terrible, catering to the travelers, we are local and more discriminating, thats why we loved Al and Stellas.

Last night was busy, folks standing in line. Maybe they were short handed, but thats no excuse for ingoring a single diner. The salad was uninspiring, the dipping sauce unimaginative, the wine-by-the-glass had been opened, either too long or not stored properly. The gnocci gorgonzola was good, but not worth the total experience. TAt least the prices are reasonable. I wont go back.

Al & Stella's is one of those rare finds where the other reviews trully reflect the overall experience. The meal was true to traditional Italian cusine with reasonable portion sizes and fresh ingredients. If your in Clearwater and want a really good reasonably priced meal then don't miss this place.

They were really rude when I first walked in. No smiles or nice greetings. Walked to the back and all the employees were sitting and talking about me as I walked in. Pizza wasnt worth the price. Server was really nice. And everything is extra.

Our first time in Clearwater beach area we stayed for a couple days, had dinner at Al & Stella Italian Café. Very nice place and delicious pizza, 16” pizza for $15.95 plus $2.0 toppings, lovely seating outside. I would recommend it.

The food was excellent. Homemade true Italian food. When it is a family owned restaurant and you are use to going to chain owned restaurants, yes it may take longer, but I assure you its worth it!!! I will be back!

I am actively eating here. ...the pizza looks and tastes premanufactured, like an undercooked cheap frozen pizza. I continue eating only because I am very hungry. Find another place for your pizza.
