THE MOST ABUSIVE MANAGER I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH I have worked in the restaurant industry over the last 30. Because I do, I always try to give a restaurant the benefit of the doubt when things do not go well. I can honestly say that this is the WORST RESTAUARANT I have ever been in. I had never been compelled to write a review on any site, therefore I did not check the countless bad reviews on YELP, Trip Advisor, Google, etc. I wish I had and I sincerely hope that anyone reading this will look at the reviews and see a pattern of deceit and abuse of customers. LESSON LEARNED READ REVIEWS. I could bore you with every detail of the poor service we encountered, but would just like to share the worst parts. My niece ordered Beef Bourguignon and I ordered Risotto with mushrooms and prosciutto. When our dishes arrived we thought perhaps they sent out the wrong thing. The beef dish was looked like a small steak (or even a chopped steak), with a red colored gravy, mashed potatoes and baby carrots. The risotto did have mushrooms cooked (overcooked) in it, but there was no prosciutto, just a few slices of what looked like deli ham folded on top. (I’m sorry I did not take any pictures). When we asked our server if these were the correct dishes, he told us that he knew it was not what we “expected”, but they prepare/present their dishes differently and in fact he was also the chef there who created the dishes. When I politely suggested that he tell the customers when they are ordering so we would know they do not serve “traditional” fare, he became belligerent and told me he was “insulted”. I asked another server to send over the manger and guess what, it was our server/chef. At that point, we decided it was best to pay for the wine and crab cake we had and asked for the check. Not only did he charge us for the entrees, but he crumpled up the check and threw it on the table at us. We asked him to take the entrees off and I went to give him a Living Social deal that had expired (it was for a full dinner for 2, but I was using it for the purchase price of $41 dollars), that clearly states does not expire (it is just like cash). He refused to take it. Since it should have covered our costs, I left it on the table and told him as we were leaving (yes, I stopped and spoke directly to him on our way out, did not run out) that the voucher was on the table for our payment. We were a few stores down on the sidewalk and he ran after us threatening to call the police and to sue me in small claims court. As we continued to walk to the valet, he kept threatening us and trying to insult us with comments such as “we should be ashamed of ourselves, women of our age, 50 plus. Running out on our bill. ( I’m only 49, so shows you what he knows). When he told me that our bill amounted to $48, not the $41 I left, I tried to give him the $7. His indignant reply was “I will not touch your money”. I left it on the valet stand and showed it to him. We got our car and left. Ready for the best part?? He actually called the police, who stopped me a few blocks away. After explaining what had happened, the 4, yes 4 officers had a good laugh, told us that the manager refused to come and identify us and that we should have a good night. They dubbed us the “Groupon Ladies”, so we had to correct them, since it was a Living Social deal. Again, we all laughed and the “Living Social Ladies” went and had fabulous dinner at Zaika in North Miami instead. I hope this review will stop others from wasting their time and money on bad food created, served and managed by a HORRIBLE, SPITEFUL, INSECURE man.

My cousin and I planned Mothers Day brunch for our family. We came across the Groupon for Bistro 1902 and thought it was a great deal. Since the rules were 2 per table, we figured we would have two separate tables and pay the difference our Groupons didnt cover. When we arrived Sunday morning at 9:30am, half of our party was sitting at a table. When the other half arrived, we asked for them to be seated by us. Our waiter said because we are using Groupons we could not sit next to each other, they would have us sit at opposite ends of the restaurant because thats how the owner wants it. The owner comes out of the kitchen and said he was only going to honor 2 Groupons because everyone at both tables "knows" each other. He continued to talk down to me in my face in front of my family and other customers eating their meals. I told him I work as a manager and know he could make an exception and accommodate us because its Mothers Day. He was so rude and embarrassed himself in front of his entire restaurant causing a scene. I got my family to start walking out the door because I was not going to allow him to ruin our day and talk to me that way. I knew if we stayed we would have been treated differently and I was not comfortable at all! What kind of owner acts this way?! Clearly he does not know how to treat customers or respect other people having their meals. The worst part: he wanted to charge us for the mimosas that we at the table, which we didnt drink! He ran outside and started to yell at us! My cousin went in and dealt with him and she had to pay $15. He told her to be glad he only charged her for two mimosas, not the four and a coke. This is the worst experience Ive ever had at any restaurant. If you dont accept Groupons or dont like people that walk in with them, then why advertise or advertise as Mothers Day special?! They treat you differently and I hope this horrible experience never happens to anyone else. DO NOT GO!!!!!

I absolutely love this place. The food was delicious. So delicious, my husband had to personally compliment the chef. I highly recommend dining at Bistro 1902. I found a really good deal on GROUPON for this place and thus the feedback I knew I had to try it out. As soon as I purchased the GROUPON, I planned an eventful evening with my significant other and while eating here was also part of my night, things didnt pan out that way. I failed to completely read the GROUPON add as it states that one must call in advance and make reservations. MY MISTAKE. The owner stated that the crab legs are limited and it wouldnt be fair to those who did make reservations. And those walk-ins? I completely understood. I mean come on, Im not going to give negative feed back for assuming or for not completely reading the deal posted on GROUPON. A few weeks later, on a Thursday night, I made reservations for 7:30 and let me tell you that that night was so much fun. I went home stuffed and a little buzzed. Haha. I had wine, house salad, mashed and green beans (I could order a whole meal of just the green beans alone). And then the fun began. The first set of crabs came out. Three sets of 4 crab legs. Oh man. So good. Then after that one set of crab legs came out at a time. Which in my opinion is the smartest because one -crab legs get cold fairly quickly and two -why bring out so many at a time? Why the mess? All in all. Amazing. From the customer service to the calm environment. I will be back!!! And next time Im bringing my family. Oh and GROUPON doesnt include tip. I tipped generously because it was well deserved!!
