Last week I had the opportunity to check out a one day trial of Catered Fit. Catered Fit is a healthy food delivery service (similar to Fresh Meal Plan) and they have just started deliveries here in the Orlando area. So how does it work? It is very easy! 1. Choose A Meal Plan – there are 5 options 2. Call Or Order Online 3. Food is Made fresh daily 4. Food is delivered daily – for a one time fee of $10 they give you a cooler bag & ice pack that your food will be delivered in. This works out really well if you won’t be home when your food shows up. Gotta make sure the food is safe! 5. Eat and enjoy! How easy is that?! Catered Fit meals are 100% natural and are free of high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, modified starches, man-made dyes and table salt. These meals are cooked fresh and delivered 5 evenings per week, Sunday-Thursday, between the hours of 3-9pm. Every Friday the menu for the following week is posted on the website. They change things up often so that their customers always have a good variety. I decided to try out the Smart meal plan. The Catered Fit Smart Meal Plan is designed for those simply trying to eat better and maintain their current healthy weight. The Smart Meal Plan that provides all the nourishment and energy required for your body to function and go about your day. I told them that I didn’t eat red meat and that wasn’t a big deal at all. On Sunday afternoon around 4 pm I got a delivery of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack/dessert. Here is what I got: BREAKFAST: Crust less Pizza Breakfast Quiche with Provolone (Cal: 252 P: 22g C: 23g Total Fat: 08g) LUNCH Main Course: Spanish Fire Roasted Pork with Guava Gravy Side: Boniato and Yucca with Mojo and Braised Spinach with Roasted Apple Dessert: Black and Blueberry Apple Cobbler with Almond Crunch (Cal: 456 P: 32g C: 37g Total Fat: 20g) DINNER Main Course: Savory Hawaiian Island Turkey Stew with Fresh Mango Side: Green Onion Brown Rice with Organic Carrot and Parsnip Medley (Cal: 402 P: 28g C: 32g Total Fat: 18g) I took the breakfast and lunch meals with me to work on Monday. I love the fact that I can just throw these in the microwave and TA-DA a fresh home cooked (sorta) meal. I hate to admit it, but I was not impressed by the breakfast. It really wasn’t very appetizing to to look at, but I decided to give it a chance anyway. Unfortunately it didn’t taste any better. The eggs were overcooked and the whole meal wasn’t very tasty. Oh well, two more chances to win me over right? Lunch was SO much better! It looked a lot better than breakfast AND it tasted really good. It had a lot of flavor and was the perfect amount for lunch. I usually don’t eat a lot for lunch because it tends to make me really sleepy, this was just enough to get me over the mid-day hump without putting me in a food coma. And I couldn’t get over how moist the pork was! They actually do different portion sizes and calorie content for men and women, so it works out nicely for everyone. I was super excited when dinner was even better than lunch. Turkey stew is now one of my favorite things! Lunch & Dinner definitely made up for breakfast being sub par. Pricing varies depending on which meal plan you go with and how many meals per day you choose. For the Smart plan it factors out to around $8.30 per meal for a 5 day plan (or $8 per meal if you do a month plan). But you have to remember that you don’t have to find recipes, shop, or cook. Its cheaper (or about the same) as eating out and its definitely a lot better for you. For someone that doesn’t cook (like me) or is short on time, this would be a fantastic option. I really enjoyed my trial and would definitely consider giving Catered Fit a try if the budget allowed for it. I’ve been trying to cook more but if that doesn’t pan out this would definitely be a good alternative.

Ive been on the fence about subscribing to a meal service in general. It seemed like a good idea but I was pretty certain that the food would taste bland and would be an overpriced experience altogether. Recently I switched to a new job that has me working out of my home on a permanent basis. One of the downsides is that you dont often make enough time for yourself to eat properly. I decided to give Catered Fit a try and I am very happy I did so. I chose the 3-meal Athlete menu to supplement my home-cooked early breakfast, dinner and late meals. Within a few minutes of placing my order, a representative contacted me and went over my plan. She was very courteous and helped get everything in order. I added Catered Fit to my guest list at the security gate to avoid any of the delivery issues I had read about. That Sunday evening, Ed, the delivery guy, showed up at my door with my delivery. Once again, very polite and helpful. He gave me some helpful tips on where to leave my cooler bag and when to expect him. He heard our 1-year-old singing in the background and volunteered to avoid knocking or ringing the bell in case the baby was sleeping. So far, the food has been great! Very tasty, filling, and made with decent ingredients. I heat the food up and eat it right in its tray. Easy cleanup, no mess. The food has arrived on time everynight. Ive not experienced any disruption of service. Ive very happy with the plan and expect to continue using Catered Fit

Had a very bad experience with this company. After being with them for about 4-5 months and bringing in multiple clients they decided they werent going to work with me on a billing issue. After 5 months I decided to cancel my meals because I was getting a little tired of the same old thing. They then sent me an email that my final bill was $1050.00. As you can imagine I was shocked! Why was my final bill so high? I then went and looked on my credit card statement and noticed that they had not been charging my credit card on file for a few months. Yes, my fault for not checking my credit card statements, (as I have them set on automatic payment) but their fault as a professional company for not billing me weekly (as was stated in my contract). The worst part is, they werent even willing to work with me. I told them that was a large amount to put on my credit card all at once and if we could do it in payments, that would be greatly appreciated. They told me that could not be done and if I would have requested this before I canceled they may have been able to do something? I was never not willing to pay my bill and I recognized that this was partly my fault, but not once did they acknowledge fault on their end. Just make sure you check your statements to make sure they are charging you (you have to do the work for their billing department apparently). As far as the food, it was good in the beginning but it does get repetitive, which is why I cancelled. Just be careful.

The food isnt anything to brag about. Its convenient to have your meals ready for you, high quality meat and produce (so they say), but the food is overly spicy, especially the dinner plates and some of the tastes dont blend together nicely. I had constant heartburn from their breakfast as well, something not common for me. But my biggest issue was with their delivery. The delivery system they have in place is very limiting, with no leniency to their policies. I was out of town once and had my food sitting at my doorstep with no ice packs for 10 hours because the driver and the company refused to put an extra ice pack in the bag. I canceled my service after that because I didnt want to deal with a place that isnt wiling to work around such a minor issue. After canceling the service and complaining to costumer service I got a very rude call from someone at Catered Fit just to try to school me on how I NEEDED to follow their rules and policies. Im sorry, but I dont think its unreasonable to ask for an extra ice pack in my bag one time when Im out of town and wont be able to get to my food on time. If a company doesnt respect my food, my time and my money there is no reason for me to continuing hiring that service. Especially when there are other alternatives in the market.
