I am sad .. Ive been wanting to go to the new Kiku for a LONG time now. We had been to the location in Mt Dora multiple times, but just havent found the time to go to the new location until tonight .. 1. At the old location the owners would always greet & seat you. NOT HERE 2. At the old location the owners would come see how your meal was. NOT HERE 3. The staff here was robotic, unfriendly, and distant. 4. Our appetizer was brought to us while we were still eating our salad .. No concern to the fact that they took away our appetizer hardly touched even after we commented on the fact that the main course was brought out immediately after the appetizer. 5. The tempura was tasteless .. And does anyone really want fried carrots? And since when does anyone fry bananas and green peppers for tempura? 6. The main course was fine, though for the price there should have been more food. A gloomy experience :( .. We shall not return .. Sorry to see it is nothing like the previous location ..

I will try to keep this short and simple and fair. Place is nice and up to date. Clean and looks like they take care of the place. Everyone is nice and professional. Now the not so good. My opinion. Over priced compared to other Japanese Steakhouses. 11.00 for hibachi chicken If you want what everyone else serves which is 2 choices? Its 20.00. Down the street those same 2 choices of meat are $5.00 cheaper. The waitress we had was serving too many tables and messing up orders and took forever. May have been her fault or not but its up to Mgmt to address those issues. We dont think we are going back.

We recently went to Kikuyus and although the ambience was pretty and relaxing, the food was not as great, and the sushi was slightly overpriced. I ordered chicken teriyaki, which is a pretty simple dish, but the "chicken" they gave me didnt look like chicken at all, it looked like one of the vegetables and I though they hadnt given me any chicken. It tasted mediocre, and not really like regular chicken. Besides that the rice was very good, and the service was good too!

This place is absolutely abhorrent! The sake selection ranges from small to large Genkaikkan hot sake, the gioza dumplings we ordered were so overcooked they tasted like Pringles!!! I ordered the Steak Sukiyaki for my girlfriend and they tried to tell me that steak on the grill is Sukiyaki! The hibachi chef was boring! Save your money and go down to Gators and order some wings... like we should have. I would give them zero stars if I could. Aaaaaargh!!!

The food is delicious and the waiting staff is nice, however, I have gotten FOOD POISONING twice from this establishment. I LOVE Kikus, so after the first time, I thought it was a fluke and went again. Again I became horribly ill along with anyone in our party who had the delicious white sauce, which is what we now think it is. Not sure if that stuff should be refrigerated better, but I will never go back because of how awful I felt afterwards.

Drove 30 miles to go eat at this restaurant walked in sat behind the sushi chef he did not wash his hands or head clubs on when he was making sushi touching all the surfaces around him and then going back and then touching the sushi that he was working on for other customers and then served it I said something to the server behind him about that he just looked at and then washed his hands I wouldnt recommend anybody getting there

If I could give this place no stars I would. Over priced, understaffed, my sister ordered scallops and it wasnt even scallops I dont know what it was, food took forever, WAY too hot, they must be saving on AC bill, LOTS of flies inside--gross, just not good. I cant even believe this place has gotten 4 stars, after reading other reviews (too late after I went) someone has gotten food poisoning 2 different times, not surprising.

Called to ask if they were looking for a sushi chef and the first thing I noticed was the managers tone(rude) he then asked my nationality.......... seriously? Is being Asian a qualification for for a sushi chef position? Im from Miami and this doesnt happen. Im not saying not to eat here because of that but just warning anyone who might want to call in to ask if theyre hiring and isnt of the Asian decent.

Im usually here often but I went today and this one girl who worked there was very rude and our food was terrible! Are chicken was very cold and my friends fried rice had mold and the eggs were green! We talked to the manager and he said he can only give us a 10% discount! I should of took a picture and sent it to channel 9! I wish a can give this place a negative rate! Never eating here again.

Very disappointed in this place. Ive dined here many times, in the past 6 months, 2 different times I ordered filet mignon and the cook tried to give me new york strip. Sushi is good but when I order a partcular roll and pay extra, ingredients are left out. I feel thats purposely cheating customers, not to mention the very unfriendly sushi chefs and staff. Ill take my money else where.

Havent gone since they originally opened. Family found it expensive. We continued going to their competitor, Lampus, for their cheaper price at the time, but after awhile we realized their care and taste of hibachi was going down hill. We headed to Kikus and realized the extra few bucks and better tasting food was heck of a lot better. Also, very nice staff! Will be returning!

We three went to lunch today. I had the Filet Mignon with shrimp. Rice, veggies and small salad are included. The steak was tender as was the shrimp, the veggies were nicely grilled and all seasoned exactly to my likeing. I have no problem recommending this place. The bill with ice tea came to around $17.00, very reasonable. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I agree with Jill T., I am reqular customer of Kikus the former Mt. Dora location and staff was far better than the present location. I also concur the personal service from the owners was also greatly appreciated. The lighting and decor at the former Mt. Dora location was also much better. The service is HORRIBLE, but the food is usually good.

Was put on hold while wanting to place a Togo order for 10 minutes, finally hung up and tried calling back and rang busy for another 10 minutes. Manager recognized my review and apologized about the inconvenience of the phone ringing busy and about the staff putting me on hold for 10 minutes. Will return again.

The food was really good and the chef was amazing my only complaint is that with in a few minutes of the chef being done cooking we where. Brought to go containers and with in 5 minutes started seating new customers at the table and that just made everyone in my party of 6 feel uncomfortable so we left

We love Kikus. The service is excellent and its a great place to take the whole family. Lately, though, we have discovered that they serve the finest sushi around. We are going back tonight to enjoy the artistry of the sushi chef once again. Do yourself a favor and go--just not tonight.
