I ordered 3 dinners: Hibachi Shrimp, Steak & Chicken, and Ny Strip plus 2 side orders of shrimp. I placed the order for carry out and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes later and was told "not ready yet." So I sat in a chair quietly and patiently waiting. Another 25 minutes passed before anyone checked again on my carry out order. After another 10 minutes, it was finally ready to go. I politely paid and then told Jenny that maybe they should have let me know that it was going to take between 50-60 minutes on my carry out instead of the 20 minutes I was told on the phone. Her reply was "Well, the kitchen is backed up, not that you care". I was shocked that an employee would say that to a customer, much less to someone who had just spent $75. I have worked in the restaurant business for over 15 years and never would have talked to a customer like that. The polite thing to do would have been to offer me a beverage while I was waiting or even a free appetizer, not be a smart mouth!! We have eaten at Sapporos for over 20 years but I doubt I will be back. The steaks were tough and the hibachi shrimp were very small. Not an enjoyable experience.

I GOT FOOD POISONING and will NEVER eat here again! I am a sushi lover, and this place has to have the worst sushi ever! Even the grocers have better sushi. Most of it did not taste right, nor look right. It sounds like a great deal and fast with the floating sushi, but it really wasnt. There was two selections that kept going around on the floating sushi for the whole hour we were there. They were not even trying to fill it with fresh stuff. The spicy tuna, did not taste spicy, just rancid to the point I could not finish it. I also ordered food to go to drop off to my boss. It was extremely generic Curry Beef and the portion was extremely small for $10. Just a cup of rice and a cup of curry broth with barely any beef. Not to mention, we went in the evening, and they never dropped the sushi plates to a $1. They got real busy and I guess they figured they would make more $ that way. Though putting more sushi out would have helped. I will never go here again. I typically go to Edamames where the sushi, the food and the service are amazing! Def sticking with them in the future.

Concerning the post below from vivian.galvano, Sapporo was clean when we came in there, and so were the bathrooms. I did not see any roaches. PROS: - They have a hibachi. - They have a fun sushi-boat style bar. - The waitresses were friendly. - Attractive restaurant. - Serves a variety of alcohol. - Seems clean. - They have some things for vegetarians. There is a vegetable sushi. CONS: - The bar can be PACKED sometimes, so dont come in confused if you arrive on days like a Friday or Saturday. Come early, especially if youre bringing family. - The food can be pricey. The things on the menu were a range of $6-25 dollars. - There were no oriental desserts on their menu. - I would suggest learning to use chopsticks. I did not see forks but they probably do have them if you ask. Thats all. I would recommend it, it is a nice place.

A little pricey for some (15-25 per plate) but you get the show of the chef flipping around all the food in front of you, and you get a HUGE portion of food! I can eat my fill and the rest that I take home with me is enough for another dinner. The food is fresh and really tasty (I usually get the shrimp/squid, but others have gotten the chicken and steak and it has also been great). Our family (5 of us) goes every year since 2005 and its been a great dinner every time. If you go as a smaller party it might be a bit of a wait, as they try to fit enough people at the cooking table, but it has never been an issue for us. We also walk there from our hotel (Ocean Walk), so parking isnt an issue for us. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting fresh flavourful Japanese food staying on the beach. -lots of love from Canada <3<3

Unfortunately, I am compelled to write this review. Normally I just let bad experiences pass and not frequent the offending establishment; however, this restaurant needs a "wake up" call. 1) The food was terrible. Rice was dry. Vegetables not fresh. Overall quality of food served was poor. 2) The floors through out the restaurant were dirty. My shoes made a "sticky" sound as I walked. 3) The hibachi chef was fine. He had personality. The waitress had zero personality and seemed removed. We celebrated my daughters 26th Birthday at this restaurant. Though the occasion was grand, the restaurant was not. In my opinion, I believe they cater only to tourists who do not know better. Well, I am a local and that will not work with me. Avoid if possible.

What happened to this place? A few months ago it was a 4 star option. Now they have reduced portions by nearly 50%, tableware is all falling apart, and food is prepared without the care once provided. The Japanese chef and a few of the servers are the only positive. The chef named JoJo prepared a soba noodle soup that tasted like Campbells Chicken Noodle soup...how Japanese is that? How does a Japanese restaurant that has such a high percentage of miso accented items on the menu run out of miso? Owner and management need to decide if they wish to continue in the food industry. They can suffer a long and costly loss of business or cut their losses and get out of the food industry with some self respect and financial assets still intact.

I grew up in Daytona and have been to Sapporos several times always with good experiences. My husband and I decided to have sushi there last night after not eating there in several years (we have since moved out of the area but are visiting family). Perhaps it was an off night, we were there a bit later in the evening, but the place seemed run down, staff seemed to not care very much and the sushi was mediocre. I do like that they offer half rolls so you are able to try out several different kinds of sushi, but none of them really impressed us. Definitely a dissapointment.

It was 5:30PM on a Thursday afternoon. It was only myself and my 2 boys, ages 6 and 7. We walked in, and there was no one at the front to greet us. We stood there and waited and a man came up and said that it would be a 2 hour wait. I looked around and there was no one in the place. I asked why, and he said because we didnt have enough people to fill a table for the chef. Excuse me? We are paying customers and you dont want to serve us because we dont have 6 people at the table? We used to come there every summer and now we just dont go back. Im so disappointed.

Stopped in on a Friday evening because my sister was craving sushi. The waitress was a bit forgetful and the food took awhile to get to the table. The staff seemed a little unorganized like they werent communicating properly. I heard other people complaining about mistaken orders and forgetfulness of the waitresses. The food, however, was great. I got a hardy bowl of vegetable tempura over rice and my sister sampled sushi. Id recommend this place if youre craving Japanese good but make sure you have time to spare!
