Weve been at Sweet Tomatoes in Altamonte Springs for the first time. When we still were trying to figure out how the salad bar worked a service member explained us how to proceed after we told her that this was our first visit. She was very friendly and explained the procedure patiently. After the salad bar we payed the bill for the buffet-style food and sat down in a room that has a strong resemblance to a mensa/dining hall. The salad at the bar in the front is very fresh. You can chose between several ready to eat mixtures (e.g. cesars salad asiago) and raw cut vegetables. Theres a huge selection of dressings, so everybody should be able to find something that suits his/her fancy. The buffet is rich and very diversified. You chose between 8 soups, today my favorite was the tomato soup. Baked potatos (sweet and regular), two different foccacia breads, pasta arrabiata (spicy), pasta with halapenos ... I dont know what to say. A lot food, more than you can try on one visit. But everything I tried was marvelous. Theres a section for desert and they even offer a softicecream machine. So if you really want to feast on excellent food for little money, come here! The only big plate youre gonna be holding though is the one for the salad at the beginning. All other plates and soup bowls are miniature like saucers. But believe me, just have a bit of everything. Youre gonna love it. Oh, almost forgot to mention Jeremy, the guy that took care of our dirty plates and trays. He did an awesome job, very kind and polite. He was circling that whole ballroom with tables and did not leave a table dirty for long! (Thats really worth mentioning)

If all you want is a quick salad or some soup, this is the place for you. But if youre like me, who went there for first time expecting that I would have the option to add some meat, such as grilled chicken or steak to my salad, youll be disappointed. Had the price been more reasonable for just soup and salad sans meat, I could have gotten over the no meat in my salad thing, but at nearly $16 per person at dinner time (that includes tax and drink), I felt it was a bit pricey for some lettuce and soup. Yes, they do offer 3 pasta dishes, some muffins and bread, and dessert, and it is all you can eat, so there is that. But I have had better salads with steak, for less money, that I enjoyed more - so, to me, this place makes no sense at all. As for everything else, the night I was there, the floors were dirty and the restrooms were filthy, so it doesnt come off as being a very clean place. There were kids playing with the soft serve ice cream machine unsupervised, and just a lot of kids in general - so obviously this is a family place - so if you have kids, youll fit right in. My children are all adults now so I tend to avoid places that have a lot of kids - so going forward, this place is on my dont go there list. Overall the food was okay, the atmosphere is what you probably would expect from a low-end buffet place (that charges too much in my opinion), and the clientele is what you would expect to find eating at such an establishment. You wont be finding me there again though. Ill give most places at least a chance, and I gave this one theirs, and it was a disappointment. I wont be going back.

If youve never been, Sweet Tomatoes features an all-you-can-eat (huge) salad bar along with a variety of soups, breads, and other dishes. Its about $10 per person and one of the only "healthy all-you-can-eat" restaurants I can think of. This particular Sweet Tomatoes, which was in Orlando, had a rather odd layout. I think the space was under renovations but the various food stations were rather spread out. The salad bar was at the entrance of the restaurant and it was a little difficult to make return trips (it didnt deter us) and then the soup seemed to be over in a corner. Maybe they were trying to incorporate some exercise into multiple trips to the different sections of the restaurant? The quality of the food was consistent with every other trip Ive had to Sweet Tomatoes. The vegetables on the salad bar tasted very fresh and there was great variety. And I always enjoy trying the different pre-made salads they provide, particularly the Wonton Chicken Happiness salad, which makes me very happy. There was also a nice selection of soups, and I thought the Red Beans & Rice stew was the standout. And with it being an all-you-can-eat setup, you can try anything you want and not worry about whether or not you like it. Its always a lot of fun for Nicole and I - giving us an excuse to be adventurous eaters on a budget.

We usually love this place and have been going for years. Last week we arrived (2 of us) 16 minutes before closing. The lettuce dish was empty. Since lettuce is the main ingredient to build a salad upon we asked the attendant for more lettuce. She implied they were OUT of lettuce but we were welcome to the other toppings. Huh??? That is like pizza toppings without the dough. Having worked in the restaurant industry I know they were not out of lettuce; however she just didnt feel like opening another bag 16 minutes before closing. We left. We also informed the two cars parking, that they were out of lettuce. This workers laziness cost the store customers, not only that night, but in the future also. I was a member of their club, and just resigned. I tried calling the manager immediately after this happened, and no one picked up the phone at that location.

First time here for breakfast. I was very disappointed. I was looking for biscuits & gravy and the gravy looked nasty, it was curdled! Brought it to the employees attention and it didnt phase her. Brought it to the Mgr attention and he said hed make another batch, however, he wasnt sure on how to make it! By the time it was done, I was finished, but I thought Id at least taste it, it was awful, flour tasting and gritty, ugh! Scrambled eggs also very dry. I dont recommend breakfast buffet, no wonder there were only two other patrons there on a Sunday morning. Stick to lunch and dinner buffets! I was really disappointed.

It seems the several times Ive been, there have been noisy and disruptive children--obviously unsupervised. They run back and forth by the tables, make it difficult to navigate the food stations, and climb around on empty booths. Then there are the crying babies--please, leave your children at home if for some reason they cannot comport themselves adequately in public. Oh, the food--last time there were no baked potatoes (only sweet potatoes.) We were there about an hour and none ever appeared, nor was there any sign indicating what the problem was.

Soups are good, Bread is very good, Deserts are good salad bar good HOWEVER no good tomatos just cherry type is all for a restaurant called tomatos! If you dont want tomatoes then you will like sweet tomatoes , The pasta bar is sub standard terrible cheap type mac and cheese avoid the pasta bar you will see, When they offer sausage spaghetti its one small piece of sausage per lb of pasta like I said avoid the pasta bar, Everything else is good, Different types of salads and toppings to go along with it, I would recommend for soups and salads
