The Smith is located in the heart of Gallery Place, walking distance from the Verizon center. Perfect for dinner before or after a show, game or a night out dancing. The restaurant has the feel of an upscale diner with the classic diner tile floor, table and chairs and that hustle and bustle feel. The restaurant has a trendy crowd and a loudness that brings high energy. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. My porkchop was to die for and a great recommendation from our waiter. The service started off non existent but ended well as a waiter whose tables were not in our area decided to come over and take care of us because she saw we had been waiting for awhile. The Mr.s steak was ok but the starters and sides were very satisfying. When you go sit by the window and enjoy the fresh night air on a nice city night. I sat at the bar, and I have to say the food, drink and service was such a pleasure. If you need a place to relax and dont wanna go to a club this is the place. I had one of their, I believe it was a kicker drink, Sams Rum, delicious tropical drink that send you over the edge in a glass or two. As for the food, the deluxe burger is superb, with a nice heap of fries I was satisfied. The fried calamari was very good as well. I had the hot fudge sundae for dessert and itll fill you up if you have room. Its exactly what you expect, then some cause the hot chocolate is that some The enviroment is wonderful for friends and large groups (make reservations though, this place is a popular one) , a little loud, as it has a high ceiling, so maybe not a first date option but its still good nonetheless.

Went on a Tuesday for the Tuesday special of Fish and Chips. At $28 for the dish, I hoped that this would be some large portions or amazing flavor. The portions were moderate as was the flavor. The fish was cod in battered drumstick shaped chunks. The chips where non uniform cuboids of potatoes and were lightly seasoned. The batter stuck to the fish better than average and the fish held its shape well when cut with a fork into bite size bits. Overall, the fish and chips were good but I felt the price was too high for me to consider it a good value. I may go back to try their steaks, but Ill be looking elsewhere for fish and chips.

Maybe it was the timing of when I went, but the service was really slow and chaotic. Now, the place was really crowded during happy hour (note: they dont have happy hour deals on drinks here), but the servers seemed really disorganized. Took 25 minutes to get 4 drinks. Now keep in mind they just opened on Monday Jan 30th, so I think this is just growing pains. Ill go back in about two or three months to see how theyve improved. The food was good though, and the crowds do speak that theres something worth coming back for.

The Smith is a sort of semi-casual restaurant. The prices are on the higher end, but at least the glass bottles of water are free! The serves is amazing, and never let your cup go dry. The French toast wad good, but on the gooy side, and the Deluxe Burger is awesome! No complaints. This place is super close to The Spy museum, parking garage, and the White House. Id recommend this place if you dont mind spending a little extra, and dont have small children.

the service here was exceptional. when the mussels were deemed not up to par by the chef, our server comped us two desserts. we love Tucker! several other servers checked on us througout the evening. excluding salad, there was only one option that could be modified to vegan (the bibimbap), but it was amazing. each of our party of six thoroughly enjoyed their meal. the setting is great too. really nice finishes and atmosphere.

Great place! Pleasant, personal and efficient service. Delicious food complimented with well- balanced and flavorful drinks. We shared the table at the bar with other SMITHsers who were cool and fun as well :).l recommend: Calamari appetizer- great texture and vibrant flavors. Fries , so you can try their delicious ketchup (I think it was Sir Kensingtons), Cavateli -10 hour lamb short rig ragu + mascarpone (heaven on earth

For pre-theater, casual dinner, the food was fine. We ordered a carafe of wine for the three of us at the suggestion of our waiter. BUYER BEWARE: the carafe cost $81.00. Certain it was a mistake, we objected but were told that was the correct price. So why didnt our waiter alert us? (we might have ordered a regular bottle of wine instead.) He said we should have seen it on the menu. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

I want to give 1 star but the food was excellent. We came one night waited 30 mins, even though there were many many open tables as you see from the pic, left our number as they said it would be 45 mins, they never called. However came back another night and pork chop was very good. Typical DC scene, not very good seating, sort of like a diner packed in, high priced food that has above everage taste.

Over priced, very average food. Had the Tuesday special "fish & chips." Fish was good, but only 3 small pieces. Chips were nothing like chips - just odd fried "stuff" is what I suppose was intended to represent the chips. $28 for small portion. Place is extremely loud; nearly impossible to carry on conversation. Tight quarters, we kept getting bumped by guests and servers. Do not recommend.

Had brunch here. Wonderful food. Wife and I both got different egg dishes. Coffee was really good too. It was a beautiful day so we ate outside, and the outside seating was good with umbrellas. Fast service. I always appreciate restaurants that give you large bottles of water so you arent always waiting for refills. Two large bottles were put on the table at the beginning of the meal.

Decided late on a Saturday to come for Sunday brunch. Luckily we were able to make a reservation online, because it was extremely busy when we arrived! Nonetheless, we were impressed at how quickly the food came out. The monkey bread appetizer was perfectly portioned for two and we both enjoyed our selections. Overall, the setting was nice, if a bit noisy.

This place is loud and the food is horrible. The service is half standard as we went in on a Friday during lunch and our server seemed more interested in smoking outside than serving. We waited almost 30 minutes for this over price lunch only for it to be served cold and the meat was tough! Never ever again will I grace the doors of this establishment!

Stopped by for brunch, sat at the bar which has a large array of liquor and beer on tap. There are several chalk boards with specialty drinks. Had great service and food was delish!! Recommend the Calamari appetizer served w/a slightly spicy marinara. Shrimp roll was fresh and had a yummy lemon, herb flavor. The deluxe burger was enjoyed by the hubby!

I had eaten at a Smith in New York City and Ive wanted to go back there just for The Smith since I left. When I found out there was a new location in DC I had to go. EXCELLENT Food, EXCELLENT Service and an amazing atmosphere. I had a great experience here and cant wait to go back. If you are in DC its a must!
