I reviewed the Shake Shack in Dupont before, but I wanted to also review this Shake Shack since Ive been frequenting it a little bit more these days. Like my other review says, I like Shake Shack burgers for their decent meat-to-bun-to-condiment ratio, their buns, sauce, and things packed in between, as well as their crinkle-style cheese fries and shakes. Although I hear that the crinkle fries are leaving and new-style fries will be in soon. Im not a big fan of their regular fries. This location is in the heart of tourist country. Its right next to Verizon Center and Chinatown, in the midst of landmarks and museums galore. So you can expect that this Shake Shack is pretty busy and poppin during the tourist season. I came here on a Sunday around 3pm for a late lunch and it was still crowded with tourists and locals alike. At least Shake Shack has two lines, the regular one and the C-line for cold items. There was a pretty decent crowd gathered around waiting for their meals though and most of the tables were preoccupied. I had to share a table with another family. During off-peak tourist season and off-peak work hours though, this place isnt too bad, crowd-wise. I think I prefer the service of the Dupont to that of this Penn Quarter location. The person taking my order last time was aloof and standoffish. Ive never encountered nothing but enthusiastic, friendly service at the Dupont location, but it was vastly different this last time around at the F Street location. Somewhat disappointing but I can live with it. I anticipate that this location will only continue to be frequented more and more as time goes on. The location really cant be beat.

We recently visited and stayed at the hotel next to this Shake Shack. I figured it was just another greasy chain burger place but when we were really hungry and desperate for a quick bite, we stopped in and were pleasantly surprised by this trendy little hipster hole. Wanting the full experience, we ordered a burger, a mushroom burger, fries and a cement. I ordered hastily, being tired and hungry so when I pulled my mushroom burger out of the bag I was a little disappointed that it was breaded. That disappointment disappeared when I bit into my mushroom burger and cheese oozed out of the little fried puck of sunshine. Whatever mad scientist came up with that thing is a true glutton and I love him. Justin said the burger was good and he especially liked the bun. The french fries were well seasoned and the cement was quite good. I was worried it would be too sweet, but the chocolate custard base wasnt too sugary. Shake Shack was quite a pleasant surprise for us. We went in expecting a chain restaurant, but walked away appreciative that this chain has imagination.

Great burgers. Loved the cheese-fries. Water is complimentary and you dont habe to stay in line while your meal is prepared. Cause of the great food and the good prices its usually very crowded. 5 of 5 nevertheless!

I was curious to see what all the fuss was about with Shake Shack, so I went for lunch today. Im still not sure. My thought is that Five Guys has better fries and their burgers are more customizable. Shake Snacks burger (I got the Shackburger) is okay, its still better than McDonalds, but didnt impress me. Their fries were undercooked, and nowhere as good as Five Guys. One problem is that the toppings on the burger were arranged for display rather than eating. The burgers are served wrapped in paper, with one side exposed. This is fine when the burger is prepared symmetrically. However, Shake Shack (or this location, at least) places toppings, like tomatoes, to be only on the side that is exposed outside the paper. This gives appearance of a well topped burger without actually being well topped.

We ordered a side of fries and a milkshake to go. I saw our milkshake being made and put out. I also saw fries on the warming tray from the moment we arrived. Our buzzer went off after waiting 30 minutes but the food didnt arrive. We didnt see anyone getting their takeaway orders. Finally, the woman gave us the shake that had been sitting for 30 minutes and the old fries. We told her thday after waiting 40 minutes, i wanted new fries. She got an attitude with us. The milkshake had melted and the nee fries were still cold. It was the worst experience. It was our first time there and our last. Dont go here for good food... slow service, rude staff and disgusting food. I also saw a worker sneeze into the fries being cooked. She didnt wash her hands or throw away the fries. How gross.

The service at this Shake Shack was great. After a show at the nearby Warner Theatre, it was packed, and staff still found time to greet guests at the door; answering questions, handing out menus, and offering any help. The shakes and concretes are delicious, but for the price the portions are definitely on the small side. Nothing comes cheap at Shake Shack, and while I think its great for an occasional treat, the prices are prohibitive for me, especially because of the small portions. As a vegetarian, the options are limited. While I definitely enjoy the Portabella burger, some vegetarians dont like mushrooms and would prefer a typical veggie burger. For vegans, there are virtually no options as the Portabella burger is stuffed with cheese, which, if you eat dairy, is great.

Ive been here many times before. Expect to pay a little more than what you would usually pay for fast food to get the real Shake Shack effect. Dont complain about pricing. Here your paying for quality and different cuts of meat. Id recommend trying their shakes, chicken sandwhich and Smoke Shack burger. The regular Shack burger maybe small for some. Fries are the crinkled cut ones and they only have the usual ketchup and mustard sauces here. This location is always packed throughout the day expect to wait 10-15 minutes for your food. I wouldt go out of my way to try Shake Shack. This place doesnt wow you. Small portions, pricy burgers and crowded atmosphere doesnt justify going out of your way.

What the heck is all the rave about? The burgers were super greasy, and tiny. Im talking no larger than something you get at a fast food joint. The food took FOREVER to arrive and with limited seating, we found ourselves waiting for a table to just about the time our food was ready. Back to the burgers....the best I can describe these is the junior burger at Five Guys. But greasier. When I picked it up, it felt like a sponge with grease dripping out. Im being serious. Definitely not worth the $10 I paid for this. fries are a la carte, as are drinks, so the average PERSON can expect to pay about $12-15. yeah, Its DC prices....still over priced for what you get.

This place only survives on tourists dimes. Locals DO NOT EAT HERE. Their version of a corndog resembles the worst type of carny food and shakes are mediocre. The only thing Shake Shack is good for is updating your will. Got severe food poisoning (dehydration, dizziness, stomach pains, etc.) on my last and FINAL visit. It lasted for a week. I ate a cheeseburger which was raw or undercooked. When I asked an employee she said, “We always cook our burgers to medium. You have to tell us if you want it cooked differently.” Hmm, interesting. It was more like mid-rare on the outside and RAW on the inside. My mistake for giving them another chance.
