Note: this review is not about the food, only about the service. I will gladly change this review once the service improves. We walked in this afternoon, waited for our food for 25 minutes, and when the staff still hadnt started our meal still, asked for a refund. Btw, thanks Manuel at the register for being a good sport about it. Heres the problem - they had 2 people cooking the food in the back, and only one person actually putting it on plates. The process of actually putting the food on plates takes about 1 minute per plate (I counted), but somehow theres a 5 minute gap between how often different customers food arrives. What is causing this issue? This is completely unacceptable, especially for a place with Express in its name. Would serve you well to figure out what is causing this and fix it.

Dish size has been reduced to 75% of what you see on images posted on the internet by prior customers. Served on a black styrofoam 75% versus white cardboard 100%. Size of the injera remains the same, so I used for comparison with other images. I got served on a black styrofoam dish during lunch time. Serving size is only a spoon, thus reduced to 50% of what is shown on the images from their Facebook website. What a disappointment was that the bill also suggested a 20% tip. You end up with 37% of food (compared to what you expect to receive). This equates to paying "$25 to $30" for a meat dish!!! do your math before going...

Tasty Ethiopian at a great price. Its really hard for me to find single person sized meals of Ethiopian food and this place fits that bill and I still couldnt finish it all! I thought the portions were generous (my plate was overfilling with food). Everything was tasty. The carrots were my favorite. The shiro was a bit under cooked. I will definitely be back if Im in the area again. Or maybe they should open up a second store in southern Maryland...

Didnt think my neighborhood could get any better and then THIS place opened!! LOVE the food, its one of the best Ive ever had (Im Ethiopian btw, born and raised, and a foodie at that. So I know what Im talking about!) In terms of service, maybe a few minor kinks to work out but I frequent this place and 9 times out of 10, receive excellent customer service.

Very happy to introduce my out of town guests to your food. Everyone loved it. I especially like the great variety of vegetarian food. Ethio, but not Express. It took ~9 minutes to wait for any meat to be cooked. BUT! The food is *delicious* and fresh, the portion size is surprisingly filling, and best of all its in a very accessible environment for those of us who are new to Ethiopian cuisine (forks are provided!).

Great food! Never expected to see ethiopian food in a chipotle-like fast food environment, but I think it works. There is also a tofu option, so its vegan friendly, as Ethiopian food usually is! Great place for a quick and healthy fix.

Nice quick option for Ethiopian food. You choose the meats and sides you want to include in your platter, kind of like chipotle. Comes with injera or pita. Price was pretty fair and the food was filling.
