We went there this past Sunday evening, March 7, 2017. This is an incredibly romantic restaurant with amazing service and fantastic food. The tables for two have red curtains around them that create an increased sense of privacy, there is quiet French music playing in the background, and the serving staff are attentive yet unobtrusive. I was there with my wife to celebrate 30 years together and it was everything I could have hoped it would be. The atmosphere was such that even mediocre food would have been ok, but the food was fantastic. She had the rack of lamb and I had the sea bass - both delicious. The wines suggested were perfectly matched to the dishes, and we topped it off by sharing an order of profiteroles. The bill was not cheap, but it certainly wasnt outrageous for what we got. Also it isnt a place where they focus on rapid turnover. We ate at a leisurely pace and never felt rushed. I should note that they have tables for larger parties and I would certainly go there with friends. I highly recommend Bistro Cacao to anyone looking for wonderful evenings escape from the outside world.

Amazing, just a wonderful experience! I truly had an amazing time. This place is truly a gem and Im so glad we stumbled upon it. Its decorated beautifully in a French Bistro style. The chairs are large and comfortable, the French music was adorable (although I didnt understand any of it haha) and the it was truly romantic, a great way to spend my birthday Superior customer service, amazing food and a great all around good time. I ordered the soup of the day, which was butternut squash, truly divine. The waiter allowed me to sub my side items for my entree although the menu clearly states substitutions arent allowed ;) For dessert I had some french chocolate cake that I didnt enjoy but it was nice to try something different. My only suggestion for a room for improvement would be to expand the vegetarian options as there were only two meal choices. I almost forgot the wine, it was amazing!

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on 8/28/2017. It was our first anniversary and the staff helped me to surprise her with her anniversary gift. Damian was our server and he was phenomenal, he really made us feel special. The food was amazing, I recommend these French onion soup, it is unlike any soup weve had before and it was delicious. The filet minon was tender, juicy and tasty. This restaurant will always be special to us from now on because they really helped to make our first anniversary memorable. Thank you to Damian and the manager in charge that night for all of your help! We will definitely be back to visit whenever we are in DC.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My partner and I frequent for birthdays and anniversaries. Its a prefect setting for first dates to anniversaries. Food is absolutely delicious and the staff is very friendly and helpful. For the times I asked for a wine recommendation they never steered me wrong. I recommend the bay window table, you are tucked away and feel like you are having a private little dinner. A romantic setting for a romantic evening. My only complaint is the dessert menu, its just okay.

This is the perfect restaurant for a date night. If you want an intimate setting, this is your place to go. We were seated at a table in the back room, and the chairs were so comfortable, I didnt ever want to leave. The lighting was perfect, and the ambiance was perfectly french. The food was also delicious. I ordered the duck, and it was delicious. The portions werent giant, but after eating my plate, and some french onion soup, I was satisfied. One of, if not my favorite restaurant in DC.

This block of Massachusetts Ave. NE is a restaurant row of old Federal-style townhouses with outdoor seating, but this ones romantic with good food, the others are kinda not. Inside is a series of quiet, color-themed rooms plushly decorated in a cute and eclectic old way that makes a nice mood for quiet conversation...which could be romantic. The brick patios umbrellas have continuous coverage for a nice brunch even in a spring shower, and is also very romantic.

The restaurant is extremely romantic and cozy, which makes it very relaxing. The service was terrific and very attentive. The food was delicious and options plentiful. This place is a little oasis in D.C. Perfect for a business meeting, lunch date, romantic dinner or meal with friends. Its unique and worth a visit!

Very quaint restaurant; loved the atmosphere and the food was amazing! You will do yourself a massive disservice if wonder out the door after your amazing meal without taking the opportunity to sample the chocolate mousse...wars have been started over lesser things. Ask for a window seat. Truly cant say enough about this restaurant; they have earned their spot among the top spots in the city.

5 stars for the atmosphere, 3 for the food, 4 for the service. Onglet steak was beautifully done, but the frites werent anything to write home about, and the desserts were so-so. Foie gras terrine was phenomenal, but it is made with foie gras, so thats pretty hard to screw up. Well definitely come back to sample more of the menu. Very quiet, romantic place for a couple or a small group.

Gorgeous, lush, intimate decor. Excellent french cuisine, I had a very well prepared steak frites and tried an exceptionally rich duck breast. The wine list was extensive and varied, with some inspired cocktails as well. I would recommend for a date night or a small family dinner. Price wasnt too bad either. The service was on point, without the stuffiness of a typical French restaurant.

Wonderful French bistro with big menu, good service and prices that wont break the bank. Lots of outdoor seating with most under huge umbrellas, so dont worry about the hot sun. Roasted chicken and mahi mahi were our entrees and both were terrific. With cocktails, a bottle of wine, dessert and some wine after, we did get over $200.

Brunch is very good...although the skimp on the side dishes... great new addition to capitol hill...and needed restaurant on the Senate side---which has alway been the lame side of the hill. and it is very pricey. If you are looking for cheap eats...forget this. It is the the old 2 quail...and it continues the eclectic tradition.

The service is impeccable and the food spot-on. If you want to experience fine French food, look no further when in Capital Hill area of DC. The menu is inventive, creative, and the staff very attentive. Its a great place for a romantic dinner with its cozy tables and victorian decor. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

Intimate, romantic European decor. Perfect for dates and close friends gathering. Authentic French food, while price points are reasonable. My visit of two people, ordering a four course meal costs us $140 (before tips). What are the dishes that we love? * spinach soup with crab meat * snails * lamb rack * seafood platter

Wow! This place is awesome and I had no idea it was here the whole time. Nestled on Mass Ave just a quick walk from Union Station and absolutely fantastic all around. Great food, great service, cozy atmosphere. From our apps, to my amazing venison and her wonderful duck, to our dessert and sauternes, everything was perfect.
