The decor is beautiful but thats the best thing about this place. The waiter took 20 minutes to get our drinks and not once but twice was the wrong food sent to our table. Two different tables that were seated after us were served there entres before we even got our starters. As we are waiting I see the manager rearranging the chairs and just standing around not doing much as the train wreck of waiters scramble to get food where its suppose to go. Finally our food comes starters and entres all together. My tortilla soup was just vegetable soup with some avocado served room tempature and my chicken tacos were dry after waiting another 10 minutes and asking the manager for sour cream Id say they were ok at best. The reason I am giving them a 2 star is because their shrimp tacos turned out great. We were never asked for refills even though all of our cups were empty. We could not wait to leave so when the check came with things on it we didnt even order and had to wait another 10 minutes then the electric went out... I was done! Never going back!

4/23/16 updated review: food was much better, except the Brussels sprouts. Service was amazing. Photos of my food ordered are posted on here. I ordered the butternut squash soup with toasted marshmallows and pumpkin seeds, the crab quesadilla and a side of Brussel sprouts. Previous review: Okay food, and just okay service. We asked for a wine suggestion and explained what we were looking for, and instead of offering to ask the bartender or anyone else, or server basically told us that they didnt know anything about wine. The food was pretty underwhelming as well. Might give it one more shot, and Ill update this review if / when I do.

My husband and I had an awesome experience! Our server, Paul, was great. He made great recommendations as it was our 1st time eating there. We had the truffle fries, carnita quesadilla, and chicken gastrochimi. Not to mention a pitcher of Margaritas. Everything tasted great, we enjoyed everything and left stuffed. Chef Josh was nice as well, stopped by our table to talk about our experience. I love Mexican food and Del Pez is now on the top of my list! Check it out, its a place you must visit!!!

The best and I mean the best. I love good food. Good ingredients and people who take pride in a good dish. I just had the best brunch I have ever had at this place. I have no connection to anyone there. I genuinely think you need to go for brunch, lunch or dinner and see for yourself. Other Main Street restaurants dont come close to the uniqueness of this restaurant. Not to mention their specials and prices are fair.

The waitstaff and managers here are very friendly and helpful. The brunch was delicious (we had the huevos rancheros and Mayan stacked hashbrowns, 10 great choices for $9.95) when I asked for a little spicer hot sauce the chef prepared me a fresh batch and brought it out to us. It was fresh and spicy, such a treat. Del Pez really went above and beyond making our brunch fantastic. Definitely give it a try, we will be back!

I like Mexican food and this was excellent. I called for takeout and my sparerib tacos were outstanding. The rice and beans were better than any other I have had and the meat was delicately spiced. All food was still very warm when I got to eat it. My dining partner had shrimp tacos that were equally exceptional. I would highly recommend this place. The atmosphere was better than expected for a place so close to campus.

Queso & chips are tasty. Veggie chimichanga is good, but needed lots of hot sauce. Pastor burrito is mediocre - too sweet and generally lacking in flavor. The churro sundae is awful - no flavor and the cut churro reminded me of stale cereal. Service was great at first, then we had to keep flagging down our waitress for items (missing silverware, more water, etc.)

My husband and I go this bar occasionally. We enjoy the atmosphere. We havent had a chance to try their food yet but it always look sdelicious. At the bar they have great specials, unfortunately the drinks are too weak but thats the case for most bars around here. Definitely worth visiting though.

TIPSY Critic... Today was half price yuca chips and pink margarita day. Yuca chips were delicious as i had never had them before BUT THAT DAMN MARGARITA THO! Im not a big drinker so 1 was good enough for me. It hit the spot. Service was a bit slow hence my 4 stars but Ill be back with friends.

Great new spot! Awesome brunch!!! Accidentally came in before 11 and my food was half price! patrick, the manager, is lovable and very engaged. The staff is knowledgable and overly friendly. Its my new favorite place! Cant wait to come back for Happy Hour

Tacos were a bit tiny for the price. Atmosphere was great and there was a decent beer selection, but not as big as I expected. Looks like a good place for happy hour but not to impress a date. Border Cafe beats all the Mexican restaurants on Main.

Took an hour and a half for delivery, 30 minutes from when Grubhub said the delivery left the restaurant. By the time it got here the tried plantains were soggy from sitting too long. The enchiladas were good once warmed back up.

There was an issue with payment through grub hub that I have never had anywhere else and the women I spoke to on the phone couldnt be more rude. Ive never had anyone speak to me like that on the phone. Repulsed.

We were able to sit outside on Main Street. The service was slow but the drinks and food were just terrific. Some patrons were loud, but having fun and friendly. The drinks were delicious.

Unable to handle our party of 8 effectively. May do better with smaller groups. Brussel sprouts were great, but tacos seemed anemic as Ive had better from most 2 dollar taco trucks.

Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in Newark and some distance. The tacos, enchiladas, burritos are all top notch. Servings are generous and the food is fresh.

Second trip for my wife and I. Both times, all the food has been great - today we had the short rib tacos and ahi tuna salad. Drinks are good too!

Wonderful mexican-american food with a big variety of drinks and with a different offer every week of the week. Everyday happy hour too

While we were in Newark we tried this place out. It was very good and a step up from normal Mexican restaurants. I will come again.

One of favorite places on Newark. Wonderful food that is unique from any other Mexican restaurant. Sangria is very good

Great food, atmosphere, beer list, corn nuts and happy hour. Just go there. Stop reading this and go. Now. Im serious.

CH

Takes forever to get food and price points seem arbitrary. If you like tiny portions, this is the place for you.

JO

Joshua Olney Zide

Not bad, but not amazing, and a bit overpriced for what it is. Also- beans OR rice? Really?

DA

Dakota Kelly

Good drink selection, the menu has options and is prepared well. Staff is friendly!
