Went tonight for the first and LAST time. To start they give you this tiny bowl of chips. I asked for a side of queso and was told by the waitress whom I later found out was the owner that "its not really queso, it is just velveeta". needless to say my wife and I passed on the "cheese dip". Make sure that you see the fine print about 2.00 for more chips. The entrees were decent. My biggest peeve is when I went to pay with a debit card, they charge you $1.00 to use it. This is ridiculous. Restaurants get charged to accept credit cards per transaction. Restaurants DO NOT get charged to use debit cards. They only pay a small fee to use the equipment. I asked the owner about this and she says she passes the cost on to the customer!!! I guess anyone can open a restaurant, problem is that some people have no business doing so. I should have trusted the reviews on yelp only 2 of 14 are favorable and now I know why.

The food has gotten better. My husband I first went here about 3 years ago and found it to be too expensive for the food being served. However, after not visiting the restaurant for a few years we decided to give it another try and found that the food looked and tasted better. Not sure if they got a new cook or used better ingredients but it has gained us as regular diners. The California Burrito is one of my favorites...and they arent kidding when they say this burrito is huge! This may not be the best Mexican restaurant but it is one of the best in our area. The negative comments I have about the restaurant are: nacho cheese is just cheez whiz...but in light of that they do make some awesome homemade salsa, some of the chairs seem to be needing replaced as they dont seem very sturdy, and they charge $1 for debit usage for payment.

The food here is more authentic compared to other Mexican Restaurants, and delicious. There is a great menu, and I always come home happy with whatever I eat. Now, on the matter of price, while a little expensive (and when I mean a little expensive I really mean that - the prices are not outrageous), it is completely worth it. You get a large serving (I almost always have leftovers) and taste that cant be beat anywhere else in town. Also, the atmosphere is great. It is never too busy or crowded and is well lit - not too bright or too dim. I cannot more recommend Tortugas than this and really hope I helped you find a new favorite restaurant.

This is by far my favorite mexican restaurant to eat in. The food is excellent. The guac tacos send my to heaven. The service is OK, every time I go the servers seem to come off as a bit blah. The decor is boring almost cold, its not a warm cozy feeling place. But the FOOD is sooo good!! They have great prices and I get very excited every time I go for some good affordable eats. I love that if you "check in" on facebook you can get some $ off your bill or a free desert some sort of deal. I like that a lot!

A friend and I ate here. Our order took forever to arrive, and when it did, mine was STILL FROZEN in the middle. I said something to the waitress, but she didnt believe me. So I had them feel it, and sure enough, they then confirmed it was indeed frozen inside. By the time the order came out correct, the place was closed and we had to take it to go. They gave me no discount or even a sincere apology. I will never eat here again.

Second best Mexican. Not exactly the most authentic Tortugas does manage to make some tasty food. They overkill almost everything with cheese, but the food is fresh and the service has steadily improved (it used to be terrible). If youre looking for REAL mexican in the phxville/cville area you should try Los Mariachis. But if youre into tex-mex and huge portions this is your place.

Great Mexican restaurant that has been consistently good for many years. Salsa is always fresh, guacamole is very good as well. Chips are always brought out warm. Portions are on the large size and value for the price. Have eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the US, Mexico and any where else in the world I can find one and those ranks up there as one of the better ones.

Tortugas is decent, always has been. It has above average quality food; very Tex-Mex and not authentic but still pretty good. The service has never disappointed me. As some other reviews have noted its a bit expensive but not outrageously so. I particularly like the generous portions and the funky Tex-Mex decor in the place.

While the food was average in quality, it reminded me someone combining panera plus taco bell. the ultimate outcome was..as good as Qudoba...and that is not saying too much, but its better. Overall portions were small, food was somewhat tasty but striving to be something greater than it really is. Overall, 2/5 stars.

I ate there yesterday and the food lacked flavor. The salsa was a joke because it tasted like Ragu spaghetti sauce. I even asked the server why the salsa tasted like spaghetti sauce and sent my food back. You shouldnt serve Mexican food if you can make great tasting salsa. It was gross! Ill never eat here again.

Kid friendly, yes. Authentic Mexican, not even close. Kids liked it cause the food was bland, but the grown ups thought it was mediocre. The highlight was the good fresh salsa with the chips. In a sea of Italian restaurants it is something different, but I wont likely rush back.

You have to pay 2.00 extra for additional chips and salsa (This is a first for me). If you share a meal add another 2.00 extra charge. If you use a debit card to pay, add .99 to your total. The price for the food is high especially since it tastes like something out of a can.

Nice place but I did not care for the food. The only salsa was Pico do gallo. Burrito ingredients were not distributed. One end was a small amount of chicken and beans. The other end provided big mouthfuls of guac and sour cream. Far too expensive for the quality.

Have been eating at Tortugas since the early 2000s. They are my favorite Collegeville area Mexican eatery. The California burrito is my go to! Skip the chain restaurants that saturate the area and have a fantastic meal at a locally owned, small business.

This is authentic Mexican food at its best. My wife and I really enjoy this restaurant. If you like spicy food, you will love their menu. Everything is homemade, so there is a little wait, however its worth it!

Not accepting of the autistic child we were dining with. Although he was being a little loud, he was not running around or making a scene; they all but asked us to leave if we couldnt "do something with him".
