People youve got to be joking, right? A four-star average?!?! If you are desperate for breakfast and cannot get to Perkins on Kirkwood Highway, I would recommend skipping the meal. But, if your car broke down right in front of this diner and you had to wait for AAA, stick to the eggs. Dont even think about having dinner at this diner. A couple of years ago, I had one of the worst meal of my life at this location. I blocked out the name of the dish but it was pasta with shrimp, which cost $13 or so at the time, and it was one (bite) and done. Then we made the mistake of taking home a slice of Lemon Meringue Pie , which was taken from their dessert case. After the container was taken out of the refrigerator and opened, mold was clearly visible along the back of the pie and had spread underneath. We are talking about a significant amount of mold. Do yourself a favor and stay away from all diners on Rt. 40. Especially if you are from out-of-state, you will not be able to stomach what passes for edible in the area.

Service: Was very slow, then waitress came by and gave us our check even though we were only about halfway through our meal. Did not even bother to ask us about dessert. Food: Younger son had the ham omelet with home fries. It looked good and he said he did enjoy it. As for my older son and i....we had the beef burger. Obviously just a thawed out frozen patty of.......meat? Patty was room maybe temperature. Neither my son or I finished our burger. On the up side, fries were good. Price/Portion: Portion sizes are good and prices are very reasonable. This review is based on my first experience at this establishment. I think I will go back and give the breakfast a try. If I wanna go out for a burger, I will gladly pay a few extra bucks for a quality beef patty somewhere else.

The food was AWFUL, with the exception of the chicken noodle soup. We both ordered pasta and soup. My split green soup was bland and pasty. Same was true of the alfredo sauce (x2). Even after adding copious amounts of salt and pepper...just bleh. The crab meat in the pasta was basically a disassembled crab cake - breading and all. We got through 1/2 (only because we were raised not to waste food). When I mentioned it how poorly it tasted, the cashier shrugged and said "you should have sent it back". Never again.

Came here for the first time today and I was very pleased. I came for breakfast, around 845ish, it was quiet, not many people in the restaurant. So, I got my food fairly fast of course. I ordered 3 Pancakes, Cornbeef Hash, and the Sausage Gravy over Biscuits with Homefries. The Pancakes were HUGE lol, very good, and every thing else was also great. I ordered all that and it came out to $14.48. Which isnt too bad in my opinion, right? Id recommend this place and I would come back to try lunch and dinner for sure.

To start this off the service was very slow from the start. We had a 7 people eating with us and they messed up 4 different meals and we had to send them back to get fixed. Than when the meals came out again they were still not right. By the end of the meal the chicken tenders had an actual TOENAIL in the chicken!!!! Than there was a booger on the plate. DO NOT GO HERE. and on top of that three people got sick and had stomach pains. STAY AWAY!!!

Breakfast was incredibly bland. Home fries were barely cooked and french toast tasted like they just buttered the bread and threw it on the grill. Looking around at other tables the food we ordered looked as tasteless as what everyone else was getting. Tried it on a whim because the place we wanted to go to was close for vacation. Will not be going back, no idea why it was so packed.

This was our second time eating here. First time we went for breakfast and I was good!! Second time was today we went for dinner. It was GOD awful! I ordered chicken Marsala and my husband ordered shrimp creole. Both were served with white rice. It was minut rice, over cooked, mushy and soggy!! We went in hungry and left hungry after only taking a few bites of our meal.

First off the food was great the burger was simply amazing and the pancakes were light and fluffy, however the whole experience and atmosphere was so so, its was small cramped and the waitress was rude, this would be a great as a stop on a road trip , but could be more family friendly and less overwhelming.

Had a hamburger with actual dirt on the bread and lettuce. The manager kept telling me that the health department said they are perfect. Never again!!!!! They feed a lot of older customers. They need to be very careful serving them.

Been to Bear twice in the last month & half, visited Route 40 Diner 3 times drug those visits. Dinner specials were great. Service was excellent. Plan on relocating to the area, and this will definitely be one of our go to spots

AWFUL service from Cynthia. She was too busy talking to her friends at 1 table to pay attention to the rest. Food was cold and flavorless. No wonder this place has been through so many owners. I will NEVER come back.

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place for breakfast. The pancakes are A+ and he always gets (and enjoys) an omelette. The food is great, fast, and affordable... and the staff is always super friendly.

Food was bad and had next to no flavor the only reason they are getting 2 stars is the waitress was very nice. Just as an added bonus my wife and I have stomach pain.

Breakfast is excellent and reasonably priced. You will not leave hungry. The classic diner lunch and dinners are quite good as well and you will not leave hungry.

Absolutely disgusting. Cold, tastless food. They do not use salt in anything. Not very busy at any given time makes the food not fresh. Wont be back.

A place to avoid as a vegetarian or vegan. "Greasy spoon" diner type place. I went with non-veg folks that seemed to like it well enough however.
