We have gone here many times and have been happy. However, my husband and I have never gone with more than a party of 4. Tonight, we had a party of 14 for his 33rd birthday. We decided it was ok to have a separate table of 4 to accommodate (they can only handle 10 at most for hibachi). Unfortunately, the manager got very anxious and could not handle a large party. We said we would wait in the bar area for an hour to wait for hibachi. Their bar area is not really a bar area, and so the manager said we were making a scene, we're never welcome back, and to leave. I tried to talk to him to ask what exactly we did to make a scene and he walked away and refused to even explain. I really liked this place before tonight, so it's unfortunate. If you make reservations ahead of time (a week in advance) for a party of 10 they can handle it. You'll have a wonderful time. If not, go somewhere else because the stressed out manager will tell you to leave and that you are never welcome back. Now, we are at a friendly Japanese buffet that is in no way offended by our presence and we are all sitting together and happy. It is during times of stress that a restaurant can truly be tested. You decide.

We have been eating at Sakura for years because we used to like the food, despite the mediocre service and the usual attempts to rush us through our dinners. Over the years, the service has been more haphazard. Tonight, having made a reservation beforehand, we drove for 40 minutes, only to be told that the maitre d had made a mistake and that we would have to wait for 30 minutes or so. That would have been bad enough, but we stood at the front desk while the person behind us was greeted before us and were totally ignored by Emily, at the desk, while waiting for the maitre d to get off the phone and alert us to the fact that he had messed up our reservation. I have felt increasingly uncomfortable in this increasingly snooty restaurant over the years. I called back to leave a message for the owner, but we are done with Sakura, and I shall be sure to inform many of my clients, who are new to this area, just how rude these restauranteurs are. We wound up at the Pub in Redding. Great salads, burgers and no attitude!!!! Not to mention the spoiled-rotten kids.

The food is excellent here. They have the best hibachi Ive ever had, and Ive had a lot! You can get the full hibachi experience with the chef creating the meal in front of you or you can order it at a regular table. Theres also an extensive regular Japanese menu with dinners and a la carte sushi, rolls, and pretty much everything youd expect at a Japanese restaurant. Everything is always good. For a treat get the calamari appetizer. Yum!! There are multiple rooms including a large hibachi room, a regular room with bar and tables, a cozy intimate room with fireplace, and a traditional Japanese room with low table. There are even two budgies in a built-in wall cage to entertain! And of course a water feature. What more could you want? Good service? Check. The only downside is the distance from where I live. If it was near me, Id be here all the time. But I never miss an opportunity to go when Im in the area. Ive come with many people and everyone has always loved it too. Highly recommend!

Im literally writing this review from a hibachi table in this restaurant. We moved here from newtown where we were spoiled by the chefs at Toro who actually became our friends because we went there so much. We would pay Sakura to let us bring our friends who are hibachi chefs to this place to cook for us. We ordered sushi and it came right as the chef was arriving at the table. The salad came after he started cooking. Besides the timing being completely off, the food was sub par for all the awards hanging on the wall right in the entrance. We ordered filet and couldnt even finish it without two pitchers of water it was so salty. The noodles werent good at all. Just over all not what we were expecting when looking at the menu and is pricing. More than likely wont return here for the price we will be paying when the bill gets here.

Sakura is a stunning joint. The hibachi is amazing, and the chefs are very talented. The greatest family restraunt ever, with an easy location. Much better the other hibachi in the area. The food is outstanding, and it is amazingly cooked before your eyes. The best for familys and events. Though the check is not small, the food and experience if far worth it. The service is also amazing, and it is very fun to watch your own food cook in front of you. The chefs are engaging and kind and very entertaining, with fires and food tossed to your mouth and much more. And group, event, or family would love this delicious, engaging and entertaing and fun restraunt with the greatest sirvice ever!!

How would you like to experience a waitress walk up to your table and, without looking up from her pad, blurt out, "Ready to order?" without giving you your menu? Then coming back no more than 60 seconds later (!) and repeat the question -- again without looking up? Then again... you get the idea. Its often crowded for some reason (though the food is sub-par; there are much better Japanese restaurants in the area) so its very noisy; tables arent swept clean, floors are littered, and the prices are high. Why anyone would subject themselves to this fish market is beyond me -- probably because folks dont have much experience with good Japanese restaurants.

How can you not love Sakura? I had my birthday parties there growing up. I also had lunch and hibachi there regularly there in my 20s. This year I didnt want to celebrate my birthday but my nephews insisted on Sakura. Amazing as always!!! I ran into Helmi, my favorite waiter from years ago, and I was sad not to get a huge hug from Robert who always greeted me with open arms! My parents are several generations in this area and they no restaurant ever lasted in that location until Sakura came a long. A lot of good memories and fun times there...25+ years worth!

Lost our reservation for 9 people on New Years Eve and Manager had the worst attitude imaginable and was very sarcastic
<br/>Offered no solution and seemed not to care at all about ruining two families plans. We have been eating their for years but certainly no more. Food is just ok anyway and overpriced. 10 thumbs down for the manager who is low rent in my book. Take your business to people that appreciate it more.

These guys are awesome. Friendly staff, great food, and a performance to boot. Lunch specials are a win! The tuna hibachi is my favorite. If you dont have time to sit down, dont worry: you can get their hibachi lunch to go. Their white mustard sauce is to die for. Still trying to reverse engineer it for the home kitchen. Great location for birthdays or really any old time!

Showed up at 8:25 for an 8:30 reservation and wasnt seated till 9:15, didnt have our order taken till 9:45. The food was average, the service was uninspired. The price for what was delivered was far and away above anything else in the area. I heard rave reviews about the place, but based on this on experience I will not be returning.
