Visited their location in Southbury on Sunday morning, 11/27. I had attempted to eat there several weeks earlier; but on the initial visit, we were seated, and then left to look at the menu for 8 minutes with no service or acknowledgement at all - and then the table next to us, who had been seated after us, was attended to first. On todays visit, the time from being seated until a server finally approached us was almost as long. We placed our order immediately. Despite their restaurant being busy, the food was delivered in timely fashion. However, the quality of the food really was nothing exceptional. The pancakes were of a rubbery texture; I ordered two eggs sunnyside up, but they chose to cover them while cooking ( I assume to ensure they were cooked thoroughly, but the point of eggs "up" is to have the yolk remain uncooked on the top) so they essentially were served as "over light". The homestyle potatoes had a large piece of potato root still attached to a piece of the potato. For a restaurant that prides themselves on the quality of their pancakes, I was extremely unimpressed by theirs. I would not recommend this establishment to others.

Two stars is generous. Chips is for dips-i feel ripped off. How hard is it to make a decent breakfast? Lets start with the eggs- i am certain they came out of a box, no flavor, no strands of white, homogenous color, all telltale signs. The bagel- obviously frozen and reheated Hashbrowns-came different than ordered How about a simple cup of coffee- at a diner i dont expect starbucks, but this coffee was awful, especially paired with those little cream cups. How about the manager who stacked and restaxked the menus ten times, and didnf even notice that fhe pen he gave me was out of ink. Chips in my view is all about turning a profit rather than turning a good egg. I will bet you ten cents that Chip has multiple homes and drives a Lexus. Chips is a classic big advertising with little delivery. Pancakes were nothing special despite their slogan claiming "best pancakes in ct".in my view, bisquick plus aunt jemima. All for a mere $26 not including tip.

First time ordering from here. I changed my order to remove the 3 toppings within 5 minutes of calling in the order and she wants to justify for her mistake of the up charges for having to throw away the toppings which is ludicrous. The counter lady doesnt know her math. Over charges me when she said she wouldnt. I kept asking why the up charge, she kept saying we made it fresh. I wanted mt exact change back instead she throws 3$ at me and said that should cover it. UNPROFESSIONAL! Also the online prices are different then in the place. Maybe they are not accustomed to serving people of color. Ive had a bad experience once again in this stupid town of Southbury. The pancakes were okay nothing special. Dennys is better because its sweet on its own without syrup.

Maybe it was just the day and time we went, because we usually enjoy Chips in other locations. First time at this location and we were very disappointed. We went on Monday at 4:00. We walked in and nobody was there to greet us or sit us at a table. We stood there for over 5 mins looking for someone. I ordered an omelette and it was awful. Very dry and over cooked. Not even edible. Pancakes were pretty good. The waiter never came back to our table to ask how our food was. He never even came back to refill our drinks...not even once. We will not return to this location.

All the people saying the food was great didnt have an entree. The shepards pie was corn, chop meat and running mashed potatos...the seasoning was used as a decoration but not in the meat. The chicken marsala was unrecognizable and seasoned that way... The salad bar was disappointing and has really OLD vegetables.....DO not eat them. Nobody is watching quality or freshness. They are quick to call a manager when you question the food quality, but seriously...there doesnt seem to be any.

Im very impressed with this place. The food was tremendous. They had no problems accommodating my family of 7, which includes an 80 something crotchety grandpa and a grandmother with Parkinsons, on a Sunday morning with no advance notice. Everybody enjoyed their food immensely, except grandpa. When grandpa made an issue out of it (for no reason, I might add) the waitress handled it beautifully.

One star is generous.....approximately 12 people were waiting in the entryway to be seated while there were many empty tables available.....even someone leaving said he couldnt understand why we were waiting since there were so many empty tables......a couple of people waiting spoke to host/hostess to no avail.......we finally left after waiting approx 20 minutes.....will never return...

First time here and the service is great so far,but the amount of dead flies on the window sill of the booth we were at was disgusting and an immediate turn off and we havent even ordered our food yet.i made it a point to inform the manager,hopefully he will keep that in check from here on out

Surprisingly good. Ive been here a few times so far and this place has diner prices but the food is far beyond diner quality. This isnt an upscale restaurant but they arent trying to be one. This is a great place to take your family and friends. I only wish that it was closer to my home.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes, I still have not ventured beyond. They are too good to pass if you are at Chips. Sorry I cannot give any more depth on this review beyond the Chocolate Chip pancakes. Because it is all I have ever ordered, besides coffee. My kids love them.

Absolutely delicious! Had the German apple pancakes and holy cow they were awesome! Was part of a group of 7 this morning and service was fast, and the waitress was excellent too!
